I took my younger siblings to see this in theaters and right at the scene where Moses parts the sea my youngest brother spilled his drink all over me. Afterwards it was a family joke that he made the movie a 3D experience for me.
I hope you're okay, wherever you are. May you stay safe and strong out there. May you take care of yourself, and others, as much as you can. I pray whatever happens to you, may you fight the Good Fight and keep the Faith. God Bless you. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have Mercy upon us, sinners. same. Being told most of my life not only how weak hope is but that it doesn't make sense to trust in hope. Hope is a light in the darkness. Even the weakest hope gives us strength. However small, it is enough. This is actually the first time I felt vindicated or confirmed that I am not an idiot for holding onto a 'baseless' hope for a different future.
my oldest sibling called me childish and a simpleton for 'buying into the comforting lie' that there is a God and the world isn't completely hopeless. For me, Hope is frail, it's dim but it's there, it's eternal. And it doesn't need proof. it's just there, if we find it, if we fuel it. And I chose to hope. This song reminds me I'm not the only one who clings to hope despite the darkness.
A-shi-ra la-do-nai ki ga-oh ga-ah x2 (I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously) Mi-cha-mo-cha ba-elim adonai (Who is like You, oh Lord, among the celestial) Mi-ka-mo-cha ne-dar- ba-ko-desh (Who is like You, majestic in holiness) Na-chi-tah v'-chas-d'-cha am zu ga-al-ta (In Your love, You lead the people You redeemed) Na-chi-tah v'-chas-d'-cha am zu ga-al-ta (In Your love, You lead the people You redeemed) A-shi-ra, a-shi-ra, a-shi-ra... (I will sing, I will sing, I will sing)
Whether you're a religious person or not, there's no denying how powerful this song is. It's been over fifteen years since I first saw this movie, and this song still gives me chills.
@Tamseel Ahmad I suppose it just doesnt make sense to me. Most religions are old and outdated as well as lost in translation. Many things contradict themselves and it makes me think of them as flawed and untrue.
Christianity matches whatever time period because it tell you about history then so on to teach you about Jesus life and his teachings which what Jesus teaches, is what true Christians follow. Also Greek is spot on for the New Testament In the Bible because the New Testament was written first in Greek so you shouldn’t have to worry about translation lost. And the best correct English language is the King James translation. That’s the accurate of the accurate in English.
I can tell you about Islam it just teaches you do good deed to get to Heaven that’s it. Which I didn’t really find that reliable because there’s no justice for any sort of crime. So if you do a crime no consequence. I was close to converting to Islam phew thank goodness I didn’t
Just ask if you want me to explain more religions I’d be more than happy to help you so the whole religions doesn’t confuse you and then you can make a choice 😊
@@manuelorozco7760 That's good to know! I know there's something to love in both versions, and I respect that. In the end, it's all a matter of preference. :)
Manuel Orozco though I must disagree with you, I will say that How To Train Your Dragon & the Kung Fu Panda movies are really amazing. But Prince of Egypt has to be the best because it handles the story of Moses very well and they took a great risk considering the fact that a lot of religions easily get offended by material like this and they made it work.
Manuel Orozco Indeed, both great movies. I’m glad that you gave your opinion in a respectable way and I really wish people would express their opinions in more civil ways. Good day to you sir.
@@SamuelKristopher Empathy maybe in us all, but it's the means to unlock it, that's what people need. Through a personal relationship with our God, eternal life can be given us all. Through Christ, all if all be willing shall be saved. May God bless you my friend, Samuel.
I just watched this for the first time the other night and when the little girl started singing in Hebrew I completely LOST it. Children shouldn't have to be subjected to the horrors this movie portrayed, but to see them come out of it with more hope and joy than ever was so powerful. And to do it in a way that's historically accurate and culturally sensitive? I'm not religious in any way, but I can appreciate a masterpiece when I see one. Bravo, Dreamworks. Bravo.
Why not be religious. Our civilization is disconnected from all others, and to allow yourself to explore orthodox Christianity will absolutely blow your mind. It is truth, reality and makes skepticism seem so easily defeated. But you have to do it justice and study!

The Hebrew children are singing a condensed version of the “Song of the Sea,” or “Shirat HaYam,” which can be found in Exodus 15:1 - 18. Ashira l'adonai; ki gaoj ga-ah Ashira l'adonai; ki gaoj ga-ah Mi chamocha baelim adonai Mi kamocha nedar ba kodesh Nachita v'chas-d'cha am zu ga-alta Nachita v'chas-d'cha am zu ga-alta Ashira, ashira, ashira I will sing to the Lord for he has triumphed gloriously (2x) Who is like You in the heavens, O Lord? Who is like You, glorious in holiness? In Your mercy, You lead the children You have redeemed In Your Love, You lead the people You redeemed I will sing, I will sing, I will sing
don't get me wrong, i like the mariah and whitney version i really do, but this version is more meaningful, more personal, than the other version mostly because of the hebrew lyrics that are being sung, but also the sense of victory and achevemnet that you hear in this version compared to other version! listening to this song after facing some sort of anti-semitism, helps me heal, and makes me remember that i am proud to be jewish! AND WOULDN'T GIVE UP MY JEWISHNESS FOR ANYTHING!
It's from the Exodus, Chapter 15. It's something like: I will sing to the Lord for he has triumphed greatly I will sing to the Lord for he has triumphed greatly Who is like You, O Lord among the gods. Who is like You, glorious in holiness. In Your loving kindness and guidance you redeemed this people. I will sing, I will sing, I will sing.

Appropriate because the were literally making an exodus after Moses freed them.
@Tamseel Ahmad He is the Lord among the Gods meaning yes there are many many Gods like the egyptian Gods there but the Lord of the hebrews is the Lord of the other Lords. Raj is a God but the hebrews believe Lord is superior than him like that.
Why should we wait for the end? This song marks the beginning of new hope, of complete faith in God and (although they did not know it) marked the beginning of extreme difficulties for the Israelites. I think we might be missing the point of the song if we're waiting for a 'better time' to blast it across the world. :)
@@nutgop If I am not mistaken, there will be no music in Heaven. Before the fall, Lucifer was in charge of orchestrating the harps. Makes sense. Music/Frequencies MATTER.
Well there's a Broadway musical about the story of Joseph called Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat, and there's Jesus Christ: Superstar, and those are both pretty biblical

To think that this happened in real life... Not talking about the whole god thing because that's debateable, but the slavery, the cruelty of the Egyptian sovereigns... To think that this happened for thousands of years and the people were stripped of their freedom... As a person living in this age, I cannot even begin to imagine the pain, the suffering, the torment. This movie really is a masterpiece for portraying history so perfectly.
Civilized society, as we think of it, is a precious exception in human history. Those who take the broadness of prosperity and large scale freedom for billions we have today for granted are fools, to be blunt.
Listened to this around the 35th kilometre of a marathon. Couldn’t feel my feet at that point and my quads were in major pain - But this song really made me dig my heels in: when I started marathon training I honestly didnt believe that I’d make it. 40km seemed crazy. But here I was 5km away from the finish, and I realized my belief had brought me up to this point. One full year of running almost 1800 km in total, and throughout that time I slowly began to believe in myself, and have faith in the fact that if I left it all out on the race course then it wouldn’t matter how long it would take for me to finish. Probably one of the most tunnel-vision kinda moments of my life, but this song was a huge part of that moment

Yes but the songs were written by Stephen Schwartz who is the composer of Wicked and co-wrote the music of Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame and Enchanted with Alan Menken.

I am in a very dark place at the moment. Much of my believes are being shaken to their core after being exposed to so many "truths". It is funny, I never really expected this movie to stay with me like it has, but this song gives me hope. That there is a God who cares for me, that I am not alone, and that I will endure the dark times I am in. If there is anyone else out there who goes through the same, know that I am empathetic to your plight, but together with the help of our God we will endure it. I do my best to help others. Though it can hurt to see so many hurt themselves when they are capable of so much more. It gets hard to bear witness to the evil in this world, but it is even harder to not let it overcome you. Do not let it overcome you my friends. Do not allow your heart to harden. Let it be soft and gentle. Even if people will take and abuse it. Our God showed us that we cannot hope to live if we live only for ourselves. Live for each other, and love one another. Then maybe you will find that the world seems at least a little bit brighter than it was before.
Awww🥺❤ I teard up reading this thankyou because I'm in a dark place right now and I've thought of giving up(if you know what I mean) it's so hard to be strong when I'm going through insecurities, depression, and anxiety and just lost of hope.
As a Messianic gentile this makes my heart happy. I watched it as a baby Christian and it still holds the same value. From child to adult this song has kept me.
The children singing is what gets me everytime. It's beautiful in its entirety but the children... gosh. Their singing sounds so joyful after so much pain, it's so powerful
This was one of my fav movies to watch as a kid, i never really realized it was about god. My family never took me to church, but i could watch this movie everyday i still have it on VHS from when i was little. It was nice it showed a man saving people and changed the way people saw them. Now i want to watch it again
I only listen to the film's version( I'm not into those ''ya~~~hmmm'' stuff in another version). You don't need to perform too many singing skills to make a song sound great. It's the meaning of it that touches your soul.
I love this version SO much more than Mariah & Whitney’s (*not saying they’re bad*), as this kind of hymn-like melody and the themes explored are better expressed as purely as possible, without all the fancy riffs and runs. HOWEVER can anyone explain to me what’s up with the odd half-step at 2:37 (between ‘hard’ and ‘to’) that is not echoed by the 2nd singer?? Obviously it’s an intentional choice that made it through to release, but it seems super weird to me (esp since the 2nd singer then does the usual whole-step minor 3rd descent) and no one ever mentions it? Am I going crazy? Help
The problem with Mariah and Whitney is that they're not feeling the song. They're not actors who can put themselves in there. Also, the two divas spent the entire song just competing in skill, not performing it as best it deserved. Because much as I can't stand them, Houston and Carey are extremely skilled singers. I just think they're dull as dishwater.
CHORUS: There can be miracles when you believe Though hope is frail it's hard to kill Who knows what miracles you can achieve When you believe, somehow you will You will when you believe. VERSE 2: In this time of fear when prayer so often proved in vain Hope seemed like the summer birds Too swiftly flown away Yet now I'm standing here With heart so full I can't explain Seeking faith and speaking words I never thought I'd say. *REPEAT CHORUS^ *key change: There can be miracles when you believe Though hope is frail it's hard to kill Who knows what miracles you can achieve When you believe, somehow you will Now you will You will when you believe You will when you believe
An absolutely gorgeous song for a gorgeous film I especially love the bit in Hebrew and I have always wanted to know what it means This song and this film never fail to make me cry
At my synagogue when I was younger we used to watch this movie after the Passover Seder and this makes me so happy because of all my childhood memories singing along in hebrew😊😊😊
i watch this every year at least one for passover to honour my background since i am not religious but have connections etc....and this song never fails to make me cry, even more when the children start singing, it is so meaningful, especially since my cousins, who are jewish introduced this film to me and my sister, i am sad i couldnt watch it with them this year
I will sing to the lord for he has triumphed gloriously, Who is like You, oh Lord, among the celestial, Who is like You, majestic in holiness, In Your Love, You lead the people You redeemed.
+Breanna Davis As said below :good music is good music", no matter where it comes from. My Place In This World is another great one if you like soft rock.
ASHIRA, ASHIRA, ASHIRA! This was my mom's most favorite song in the film and it was definitely the one song that she loved to sing along to the most, when I hear this song and sing along to it I can hear Jesus speak to me and remind me that there really are such things as miracles even in times of pain and suffering, my mom believed it growing up as a Christian and now so do I. I know that there are miracles even during this time of confronting the Corona virus because I believe they're there and Jesus will help us to find them as we continue to try to know where to look. I think of my mom every time I hear and sing this song, and I know and believe that she is here just like the miracles Jesus has waiting for us. This is for you mom, and especially you Jesus my Lord and Savior from now until the end of time! ASHIRA, ASHIRA, ASHIRA!!!!!😄😄😄😄😄❤❤❤❤❤😇😇😇😇😇💖💖💖💖💖😃😃😃😃😃💗💗💗💗💗
This song is such an inspiration!! It doesn't matter if you believe in a God or not , aslong as we people believe in ourselfs we can achieve more❤️ It doesn't matter what religion or beliefs we have , we are all ONE!! Spread peace and the world becomes a better place ✌🏽️ Big respect to Hans Zimmer for making such beautiful music , he's a true genius
Don't forget Stephen Schwartz since he wrote the songs and he had Zimmer's help. Other than that, I agree. I don't really go to church on Sunday mornings like I used to but I do appreciate my religion.
This was always, always my favorite song from this movie. ... To those that are moved by the beauty of this song -- it is the Holy Spirit, don't ignore it or turn away from it -- embrace it. Listen to it ... listen to it whisper and call out to you from the annals of the very real but distant path that beckons from this song, urging you to seek Him out. ... The Hebrew in this song, it praises the Father! "Ashira Adonai Ki ga'oh ga'ah." -- I will sing to the Lord for He has triumphed gloriously. "Michamocha ba'elim Adonai" - Who is like You, Oh Lord, among the celestial. "Mikamocha nedar bakodesh" - Who is like You, majestic in holiness. "Nachitah v'chas d'cha am zu galata" - In Your love, You lead the people you redeemed. "Ashira, ashira, ashira" - I will sing, I will sing, I will sing.
V Hammond I am moved by the beauty of this song. I’m also moved by the beauty of Wagner’s operas and Strauss’s Four Last Songs. I’d like to believe that’s not the spirits of Nazism and anti-semitism urging me to seek them out. Beautiful music has its own power.
This scene is so beautiful and haunting at the same time, as we see the Hebrews embracing their newfound faith and hope we also see the aftermath of the plagues on the once great empire of Egypt, toppled/broken monuments and even a couple Egyptians shedding their weapons and headdresses in dismay, where one people find the strength to believe there's another group whose lost theirs
When Moses leaves Ramses and breaks down sobbing, that feeling of "we got what we wanted, but at what cost?" is so dark for a "kid's movie." Then the hope and joy of this song hits, this movie is amazing.
I love every song an everything this stands for I love Jesus an Jehovah Jehovah means rebirth but god will be whatever he needs to be in our time of need
i don't remember when i first saw this movie but i do remember when me and my sisters would sing the part where the kids sing i still remember the part my heart
I think adding in Hebrew was one of the best movies this movie could have made. Every time they start singing in Hebrew my heart is warmed. It's amazing to me that texts of those living in oppression survived this long and this extensively, and that we still tell the story all over the world. Salem!
This film played a role...however you wish to look at it...in restoring something I once thought long gone...my faith. I am no Christian nor Jew. Yet I will gladly proclaim that Adonai is the Creator.
I hope you're okay, wherever you are. May you stay safe and strong out there. May you take care of yourself, and others, as much as you can.
