Played this at my late wife’s memorial service. N.C. was our first concert together - they were virtuosos then. Harmony only developed from years playing together. Melody and instrumental abilities from talent and hard work. First time I have been able to listen to this song in 4 years all the way through. Happy tears now. Thanks for the memories, NC. If you never play together again - your time together was so worth it.
Wow. My heart goes out to you. I love this song, and found this version recently and thought I would share. Be well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GRVbD4QwF20.html
Absolutely haunting. Amazing to listen to them perform this once more as fully matured adults & musicians. These three individuals influenced me more than any other group of musicians when I was young, and I'm eternally grateful for the inspiration they gave me. So wonderful to hear them making music together again.
These three are entirely responsible for the majority of music that I listen to and play today... either directly, or because of the great group of musicians within their extended circle. This was one of the few songs that ever really touched my soul.
Saw Nickel Creek perform an acoustic version of this song last Friday (27th Jan 2023) to close their show in London - an absolutely brilliant song and performance!
I first heard this song about a week after my x-wife announced she wanted a divorce. I was at the lowest point in my life. The depression haunted me as I loved her so. I purchased the album and played it often. The song gave me hope as the music drove me to tears with each play. The power of music can bring a good man to his knees, and this song serves as a perfect example.
Such a talented group. So sad when they split. Love Nickle Creek. enjoy they individual directions but there is no comparison to when they are together for this fan. Makes my heart happy to see and hear them together. Tour again please!!!!!!
So thankful that I got to see them twice, once at the Fillmore in Denver in ‘05 and Coachella in ‘07. To this day, they are one of my favorite bands. They are one of the few that I can listen to on an all-day loop. 👽✌️
Words cannot describe how much I love A Prairie Home Companion, especially with Chris Thile as the host. I loved it with Garrison, but Oh. My. God. the current iteration is like the soundtrack to my soul. I have been listening to this particular performance on repeat, but I could easily do it with so many others from last season and this current one. My happy place is Saturday evening (and Sunday morning!) listening to the magic of Prairie Home. Thank you, Chris for nailing it times 1000%.
I loved their original music video for this song. It’s haunting, and hard to believe if you compare that video to this one. They have aged tremendously and I think they sang it better years ago compared to this recent video...by a mile. However this is still one of my favorite songs of all time!
My husband just passed away...and i came across Nickel Creek's song..."No Place like Home" trying to find the full lyrics...with no success. Can anyone help me please? Thank you dearly.
I played this for Ben, whom I loved deeply, for my sister Laura and my Mother Ena, they have all left the world too early I miss them all. I'd love one more day with them. I see them in my dreams, hate to think of them all together, they would hate each other, I have been seeing them in my dreams and its time for them to stop hanging out together. Just Stop! I want a break from the insanity.
