You say they play quickly, yes so it seems, although it can be said that they are also using your time as if theirs. Great videos with much pleasure, many thanks
I love your content brother. You've made great progress since starting this series, and obviously it's incredibly tough. I've used your opening resources heaps and its really heartening to see you relentlessly focus on improvement. This is what the work looks like sometimes! One game a day with no days off is also super tough. One percent better every day, brother!
Thank you for sharing your games with us! As a 40 something who is trying to improve at chess at my own level, I learn a lot from your comments and the way you approach calculation. Good luck as you continue your journey.
I don't think the opening was the problem here. You had a good position. The king definitely belonged on g2, not e2, so 17.Kf1 looks good. Moving the rook off the d-file you just put it on was silly. Sometimes you get too hasty, you need to sit on positions that have potential and get all your pieces to good squares before you start getting frisky. Why the rush to play d5? Your center is strong where it stands! Yes, down the road maybe. It's tough because forcing lines win games so you want to look at them, I get it. Chess is so hard. Thanks for uploading
Agree with this - the other thing to mention is your opponent was playing quickly because their attacking lines were very natural and were made in combination with the moves before them and their expected reactions from you; you never really played any move that didn’t stop them doing what they wanted to do (like castle Queenside, which was a clear plan as soon as they activated their second knight (given the pawn structure on the king side, that was clear too). Compare your opponent’s attacking focus to yours in this game - where you kept switching between focusing on attacking flank pawns or attacking through the centre - it then becomes clear why they out played you. But I will say - this game was so much unlike you that I wonder if you should just take a break from the daily training games; and possibly mixing it up a little with your openings (play a few D5’s, or some sharp gambit lines).
Ooooof, sorry you missed the threat of the queen and rook coming in. It seems like one of your weaknesses (mine too) is board blindess/fixation that results in you missing threats and opportunities on parts of the board, away from which you're concentrating. But man, why not play thus game out with your obvious rook move? I mean, as you said yourself, it's a training game. Worse case, you still lose but gain some insights, best case, your opponent screws up and you draw (or win). Thanks, as always, for sharing your chess passion and journey!
Well the game was not decided in the opening... I probably would have missed Qb4 as well. I guess we always have to ask ourselves what is undefended in our position (as well as the opponents)
You seem to have survived the opening just fine. 6.Bg5 e6 and engine say's +0.5. From the engine analysis, the biggest issue seems to have been missing Qb4. In anticipation of 20...Qb4, engine recommends 20.Rd1 so that if 20...Qb4 you have 21.Na2 and the d4 pawn is defended. So I wouldn't think you were outclassed. Thanks for making chess content.
Sure you were losing but why not at least play Na2 and see how he reacts instead of resigning? Slav games are often sharp so just one slight oversight by your opponent and you are immediately back in the game.
I have a recommendation for you instead of immediately using the engine in the analysis why not analyzing the game without the engine first then maybe check the opening book then checking what the engine says about the analysis and if the analysis done was correct or not and see where we went wrong! This way I think we will benefit from the analysis. I think you will agree with me but the problem is the video will be much longer
The video will be longer la..then u all will complain why long video is created..humans are always good in criticizing and complaining..appreciate what you have in front of you rather than condemning
Please don't be discouraged by such a loss. In rapid controls I've also been spanked down like this by a kid who asked to play practice games (after I easily beat him in a tourney). These kids are genuinely very very sharp with their tactics and this kind of player is every bit as dangerous as your arch-nemesis FDunne.
Its probably because you main the London and not the d4 c4 complex. Classical Slav is very interesting! 6.Ne5 will lead you to crazy imbalanced positions, very fun to analyze
The funny thing is I learned this a week ago after watching his video I didn't think he would forget theory on move 6. Happens to me all the time (1950 lichess)
20:28 how is ra3 related to not giving up your d-pawn? If g4/gxf4 Nc4 wasn't best, wouldn't black still win the d pawn (In probably every variation that doesn't hang a bishop that is)
Stepjan - to put it bluntly, that was awful (sorry 😬). So as much as I love your daily videos - it might be an idea to take a couple of days off, let the chess brain refresh, recharge and come back sharper?
through too many of the games i’ve watched, you are so quick to voice ‘i’m resigning.’ most top players, commentators, historians etc all talk about the fighting spirit that all grandmasters share. i am very concerned your efforts would be better spent on a different career path. drilling/construction noises destroy your concentration, a single fly drives you crazy & in most other games you spend too much of your time & energy ruminating on what moves you should have made, when all efforts should be directed for the challenging positions you are then faced with. i’m seeking other adult improvers to switch my attention to, hopefully more instructive and morale building.
It's interesting that you're telling him not to give up, but you're yourself giving up on him lol. Kinda contradicting yourself. But I get your point, although it is carried in a not-so-nice way. And some people just have trouble concentrating, for example I'm autistic and I can't play chess without noise cancelling gear.
@@Victor-ji1rz It is his career. I've not watched every single video, but I recall Stjepan saying he had decided to pursue chess full-time. That said, I agree the tone in the original comment is unnecessarily harsh as Stjepan is trying his best and is dedicated to chess.
