I've been camping for several months now but not looking for free camping and what I've noticed is that state parks are almost void of people tent camping. The park I'm currently in is 22,000 acres. It's only $10 a night to camp in a tent in the US in a state park, which is close to being free and it's clean, quiet and beautiful and people aren't crapping on the ground and leaving it there. There are so few people camping in tents that the areas for tent camping in some parks are closed off. It's really strange how it seems that people apparently buy into certain ways to be in nature like a wave. I asked myself who camps in a tent anymore? Only mountain climbers and the homeless? Most of the parks I've been to I feel like I have the park to myself.
We need to link up those ancestry sites with a DNA outlet where we can send in the shit people leave at campsites, find out who they are and return it all to them.
The best idea yet. Excellent. Devon's moors are full of human waste, I spend most of time looking down at my feet and where to put them, then able to take in the breathtaking views.
Thats smart.. Rocko is a wild child... doing my best to teach her its not ok. When shes walking with me she will sometimes steer clear.. but when we're lounging and she gets bored... 🤢 It still feels gross to camp within 15 meters of a pile of human feces. Especially when i want to cook over a fire.
I keep coming across people not cleaning up after their dog on walking/hiking trails. Makes sense now, if you don't clean up your own mess no way would you clean up after your pets.
@@UCCLdIk6R5ECGtaGm7oqO-TQ This is on so many hiking trails. I carry a plastic bag, the heavy duty type, and pick them up hike them out. Sometimes the bag is full. Disgusting!
The older I am getting the more I have come to understand that humanity in general is dumb, intolerant, inconsiderate, and dirty. We are like farm animals really, easy to control and live in our own waste consuming everything around us. The fact that individuals do this type of stuff is no longer surprising to me. One really has to venture out to nowhere to find a clean place to enjoy nature. Sorry for my bleak outlook on people, there are plenty of us curtious and kind folks out there, but the ignorant population is growing fast.
We are going thru an interesting transition again in my lifetime with millions newbs in the backcountry with little to no outdoor ethic. it happened in the late '60s but people did learn, or got weeded out when they found 'getting back to land" involved some ethics and work. When I was a early child in late 1950s', my parents charred their camp garbage, left TP under rocks, dug out campsites for drainage. They learned in the '60s to pack it out and lead by example. That learning can happen again but there is resistance in my community of "don't tell me what to do", or shooting up public land signage is "getting back at the man".
I hate slobs. It's so easy to take camping with you, a bucket, construction garbage bags and kitty litter. Wrap it up and tie it shut when done, toss in garbage at next opportunity.
I know what you mean when say Rocco will be right into it. Dogs can be so disgusting at times. Very wise of you checking the place out first. I do the same thing when myself and Eli [my dog ] go camping for an overnighter. Some people are just so uncivilized when camping in remote locations.
Yep, other camping channel I watch also find piles of human crap and toilet paper all over camp sites in provincial parks that even have thunder boxes to use.... and remember few years back, they saying there was piles of shit all over the trail to mount Everest causing problems. . . People are animals, what do you expect.
Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that it is now mandatory that ALL human refuse be packed out of this area (Everest). [Edit: I looked it up, and both the Nepali and the Chinese governments currently require that all human refuse be packed out. Last year the Nepali government spent $850,000 US dollars to have personnel from their Army clean up refuse, including four bodies, from Mount Everest and four nearby peaks.]
It’s so sad but true! Not just perfect camping spots though my favorite dog access walking trail at the lake this summer was impossible because of human feces and toilet paper. It smelled like a porta potty and my dog was not safe.
Oh man thanks for posting, our daughter's dog rolls in it every chance she gets. Have to keep her on a leash, people stop doing that!! Pick it up!! Come on.
We have the same problem here on Dartmoor Devon, UK, I try to stay away from the tourists spots, lots of human crap and toliet paper, trouble is, its my local area so I have to travel further away, but UK being a tiny island, there isn't much I can do to escape mankind.
@@johndoe-lr9if exactly! When my son moved there and started to camp, I bought him a GI style fold up shovel. I was shocked to see so much of a mess in places we visited.
Beautiful mountains! Looks like it has snowed on those mountains recently. Or maybe this area had snow on the mountains all summer(?). Love the autumn foliage!
Bummer. I remember when I used to hike a lot, there would be almost no place where I didn't find a coke can, a plastic bag, a broken bottle or McDonalds wrapper, etc. People can really be inconsiderate pigs.
Wow so beautiful mountains . ! Sad that people act so dirty. No respect for self or others. They are way behind in the game of life. Keep on Trucken!😎😉
humans are nasty that's for sure. my best spot was a 2 mile walk up a valley with ice here and there and no trail. got to the tree line and setup just before darkness took over. then in the morning i woke up to a spectacular view of zero human activity. i'd bet maybe, maybe 5 people had ever been there. when i left 3 days later i made sure no one could tell i'd ever been there.
@Moresty Forest We find this is happening more and more. Garbage and crap 💩 left behind. 😠 Soon there will be no good places left due to litter or closures. 😞 Currently near Kimberly, BC. Some nice spots here. 👍
LOL, you need to feed her more human food so she doesn’t eat shit. My father was veterinarian and he said to much dog food would push them to eat anything they find, because they don’t have enough variety in their food. We Fed all our dog table scraps, most lived past 15 years. Stock dogs.
I dunno bout this I feed my dog everything I eat when were full and he'll still eat anythings poop, anything dead, and he'll kill something to eat it if he has to
Yea every dog we ever owned survived off scrap of what we ate with a little dog food here and there. They even get lucky and get a stray rabbit or something. They always live long healthy lives, can't remember a time where any had a medical issue of any kind
I guess I’m just in the wrong place. I truly don’t understand why anyone would want to “camp out” at all. I love cities myself, with all-day cafes, all-night diners, endless shopping and a large variety of bars and nightclubs. Love the variety of people, cultures and languages that you find in urban settings. Too many unnecessary difficulties and bothersome inconveniences involved in “camping out”. The beautiful views simply don’t make up for them.
Some of us enjoy the peaceful solitude of being away from the noises associated with the cities. If you're reasonably prepared there really isn't any difficulties or inconveniences involved.
@@danoalex2977 We are a part of nature. A really big part in fact. Cities can be, if properly planned and cared for, just as beautiful as anything the other part can create. I'm as progressive as any other reasonable person, just not nature crazy ... lol, yourself, buddy.
I lend a hand on a farm. Cows love chicken shit because chickens only digest 30% of what they eat, and they usually eat well. Cow shit is great for growing weeds, regardless what they ate in the first place, but also veggies with proper care and attention. Pigs can survive and get good and fat on horse shit alone. Pig shit is hot to start off but when it's calmed down it can be a great addition to garden soil. Rabbit shit grows mold. I haven't investigated. The cats and dog seem to know not to shit in my garden. Now as for our shit, humanure needs a system. That place did not have a system.
Rocko is still a young dog. Be patient and train her not to snack on it. She’s shown herself to be very smart and will get it! (Of course, this doesn’t solve the cooking next to a pile of feces problem. 😳)
A minute to dig a hole and put toilet paper in a ziplock bag and in the van, forest service rangers should fine people for not having a shovel while out in these areas. And pee on the ground where the nitrate will be beneficial and not on the trees where the uric acid can cause damage.
I don't live in a van, and when I go into the forest I take a contained sewage system with me, and the only time I'm going to shit in the bushes is when it's either there or in my pants so I genuinely ask what is the answer? Obviously I agree just leaving it there is not the answer so do you bury it or put it in plastic bags and add to the landfills?
Too bad a few disgusting people wreck things for others. We truly are living in a Narcissistic society. So sad. Hope you find a nice location without garbage.
People suck, this afternoon in my apartment complex my dog took off and behind the dumpster got in human shit. I so badly want to rubs whoever did it nose in it. Your apartment is just steps away and you have to shit outside. Dig a damn hole, its not that difficult
Choose a site at least 200 feet away from camp, trails, and water; somewhere out of the way where other campers won’t walk. Proper catholes must be at least 4 inches wide and 6 inches deep. (But again, check your campsite’s rules!) Most camping trowels will be about 6 inches long, perfect for measuring a proper hole. Once you’ve done your business, fill the hole with the original dirt, and disguise it with debris to make it look natural again. So what do you do with your used TP? Pack it out. Toilet paper doesn’t disintegrate like waste does, and even burning it isn’t effective; you’re still leaving traces of ecosystem-harming TP behind. A duct-tape covered Ziploc bag is the best place to store your used paper; that way it’s discrete and smell-proof. go.campendium.com/campers-guide-to-human-waste/
And this will be reason someday, they will start banning/controlling/request license to people who go to places like this...It's because of the bad few, the rest have to suffer.... But hey, quick question, where do you poop when you're out there?
Funny part? Your dog likes to eat human waste and that bothers you, yet that's what you feed your dog as a staple. Industrialized waste processed into something labelled as dog food. Little do you realize, and as gross as this sounds, human feces is more nutritious and less toxic than the crap you feed your dog. And it doesn't matter how much your dog food costs, it's all processed industrial crap. If you feed your dog properly with real food, she wouldn't seek out sh!t as a supplement to the sh!t you feed her.
Rocko gets the best quality human grade meals... i want to make sure shes healthy considering the difficult hikes we do. And yup, just always shown interest in eating all kinds of poo
@@morestyforest4325 I've seen what you put n her bowl, it's made from human grade industrial waste, processed into cereal. You, like 99% of all dog and cat owners, are just a sucker to marketing bullsh!t. Dogs are carnivores strictly designed to eat raw meat, organs and bones, not cereal made from industrial food waste.
@@Madzguy007 Coprophagia as a reoccurring behaviour in dogs stems from malnutrition as a puppy. Canis is not naturally coprophagic any more than they are kibblevores.
