I feel like the game does not do a particularly good job of pointing out the vows even exist. And this player only had the vows they start with (repanse gets all of hers from the start, and Mogen gets the first by default). My guess is when you opened the vow tab it was news to this player. I only noticed it when watching you play Bretonnia (luckily I had never play the Brets myself or I would have likely had the same problem this guy did).

10:13 Yeah, maps not scaling with unit sizes is pretty stupid, especially in sieges. On ultra, armies barely fit into cities.

I’ve never known why when fighting battles, especially stacks like this, they don’t have 4-5 groups. That would be so much easier for targeted approaches and minimal casualties

Until you just get to the "all grail knights/guardians" point, then all cavalry armies are fine.

This video actually made me want to play Attila now.

I get what they were possibly going for with the cavalry, but that strategy only works if the enemy is going to be easily broken and has a spot in the center you can reliably break. Which means they need a massive weak spot where they should be strongest. Basically your goal with a massive cavalry unit when going up against infantry is to slam into the center of the formation and break through. You then send your horses to slam into the sides of nearby enemies while having the ones that broke through slam into the backs of the enemies in order to cause a mass panic as units begin breaking all over the center of the enemies formation. I actually used this tactic in my current campaign in Rome: Total War against the Julli. So this tactic can work on normal difficulty fairly easily if the enemy is largely packing light infantry and skirmishers. Even so, I really wouldn't recommend relying on this strategy since it can be easily screwed over if the enemies have high morale or if the AI has a large number of units wielding spears.

tbh this would be more of a disaster campaign if the sender was playing as the tomb kings. No archers, barely any anti cav, heck even AI "moron charge" would be deadly

I did Repanse campaign 1 month ago. I had previously played Brettonia but before their rework and, if I remember correctly their vows appeared in the skills tab it wasn't its own separate tab. I wasn't able to find it so I spent like 100 turns playing the campaign before I found the vows tab... Needless to say I restarted the campaign so I could do it properly.

I've done 2 different Bret campaigns on VH and Legendary and I didn't even know vows existed

Wouldn't be better to form a train line to roll over 3 enemies using 10 cavalry and wipe them out like that girl tied to the train rails? Does this game allow this? that would be the optimal way to use them but no idea how the mechanics works on this particular scenario when using charge (new to the game here...) Or at least try to clean them like water to rocks with charges on the flanks using several lines of attacks that narrow with each wave (done in a single move)

You don't get extra credit for not using your charge bonus. You're allowed to back out away from shitty slow infantry and re-charge and only fight with your charge bonus. Combine that with wedge formation and this battle is 100x easier. It's a bit micro intensive, but everyone bitches about how 'weak' cavalry are because they don't use them correctly.

Calvery in a large battle is better than no calvary at all, they are meant to flank archers and attack behind engaged units.

Huh, I have several hundred hours in both this game and the first game. And yet, despite all that time and me playing brettonia for a decent portion of that time and I had no idea about the Vow xD

I've yet to play as Repanse, but I was impressed with how she just tanked like 3 units. What a savage. Assuming she is a pretty strong fighter?

If you have units with perfect vigor are they fresh or exhausted when caught out in forced march?

in medieval II i could easily beat a full stacked army with a full army of cavalry. just split ya army up a lot and force the enemy into split up their armies too. and when they are too far away from each other, destroy lose infantry armies.

Even a bunch of club levyes with 2 pikes and 4 missiles make a army of cav not mean much. My suggestion so when you start a new game is you think more tactical. Cav against pikes nope. So easy way to think about it I have pikes cause I have archers and cause I have archers I have support cheap units and cause I have cheap units like club levy I will have cav.

So what's the best all round Repanse stack?

I had no idea that Bretonnian lords had vows that assisted in the campaign/battle, i have over 500hrs played of WH2 (200 with WH1) and won with Couronne. Goes to show you can always learn something new in WH games.

If you surrounded a skeleton spear unit and charged does the spear unit even matter there getting charged by all sides

I’ve never seen the AI play so poorly! I’m at a loss on how to split them, kite them or lure them. They always seem to know what I’m going to do even before I do and they set themselves up accordingly. If that had been my game they would have ignored my lords and swarmed my army and hit me in the flank while trying to flank them. On the other hand I’ve never made it far enough to even get knights. Maybe they are better at luring. I’ve only ever made it to turn 107.

I don't like Bretonnia but I love killing their soldiers with monsters. Feels like I am destroying a defended castle from the medieval ages.

turn 51 and Repanse is level 8. I am not an expert on TW2 but thats one thing i am sure qualifies as a massive mistake.

Keep cav in rear lines, other portion of cav to help the one surrounded by enemy forces, from 3 sides while infantry March to their aid.

I was wondering if I was the only one, the cavalry just feels so weak in warhammer total war games which is a shame. In previous games it was quite the opposite. I guess the bigger variety makes cav bit more redundant.. but it is a shame

I got the game this week and almost finished my first campaign as the pirates of sartosia. Even with a ton of pirate coves all around the world I never seen 10k gold pop out in a single turn so easily and with so few territories. Pirates get miserably poor if they stop raiding for a while. But who needs to keep gold when you can buy explosive zombies in the local market? lol

It looks like he's autoresolved or attritioned his army into that state based on the evenly distributed casualties in the starting army.

Big fan of the vids, but still feel like there's probably some key aspects I (and I'm guessing other inexperienced players) are missing out on. (I have no aspirations to play on Legendary or anything, but the tips and tricks like dealing with sieges, for instance, have been mega useful :) )

I've never seen anyone run a whole army of Knights Errant lol that cant be an efficient strat. I wouldnt be seen dead without some peasants to hold them in place while I "courageously" charge them from behind 24 times.

Can we talk about how amazing of a legendary lord Repanse is. For three quarters of the battle was surrounded by infantry and was fighting a lord and was winning for half of it and never began losing the battle
