@reply to nobody's comment bingo, they have every right to lock your device out of updates and any online services. However them bricking the devices in the way they do would probably be found illegal if it ever went to court seeing as it is functionally just destruction of property. The devices can be run entirely independent of their services and costs them nothing. You own the hardware, they own the services.
Yes homebrew with softmod you do not need to open the console but for The 2018-2019 Switch es Switch Lite and oled Switch you need a mod hip and it costs arround 200 dollar sooo i reccomend a 2017 switch
@@awildmoose6541 nintendo actually care about jailbreaking. If they found any jailbroken switch, they'll ban the device from doing anything that is related online.
Slightly off topic, but my most w0000 console hack was the PSP Go, if you screw it up the thing is bricked, it's got no way back. Older Nintendos you just bought a cartridge thing for and you were good.

@@Natalietrans there’s guides on how to switch to atmosphere with mod chips I believe, but I could be wrong. I’ve only ever used The Jig Method and the new clone chips for the OLED so I could be wrong

No, they don't. Emulation is not illegal and never will be. Once you purchase the device its yours to do whatever. Homebrewing isn't illegal either. Moment it becomes illegal is if you sell homebrew hardware or software, like modchips.

It's possible to homebrew the lite with a mod chip. The problem is with Nintendo taking action against team xecutor it's really difficult and expensive to get a mod chip.
