@@ok9418 a back story will give an idea why Al's parents are like that. It's a mix of a chaos. A mother that's overly doting when it comes to her son and a father that overly dotes on his wife. Within their family circle, Al's is the only normal character.

I read that it’s common in Japan for the parents/couples to have their own rooms. It’s not necessarily an indication of a bad relationship. It’s generally true everywhere too, depending where you live. More couples should honestly have their own space.

Actually, it wasn't uncommon for couples to sleep in different rooms. Don't know how common it is now, at least in the US, but i imagine some still do.
