@thatxmas

“The Thick of It” is the show you are thinking of. It is a much meaner show than this one seems to be, like “Veep” in the US is a mean show. Most of the humor in Thick is Capaldi viciously insulting people that work with him. This show, like Yes, Minister, is poking fun at the absurdity of government.

The fact that this video has a “context” label about climate change, where the government tells you how to think, is SO perfect for this series. Its just confirms even further that this is a documentary.
@howard5992
@howard5992 Месяц назад
Of course it is a documentary. The actors are portraying real life politicians putting profit above having a sustainable environment. That there is "context" label simply indicates that there is lots of misinformation about this topic. How do you suppose it is the government telling us how to think ?

I guess coal itself isn't clean, but the technology that burns it has become way cleaner. Or else the skies over my city would be disgusting.
@qichen85
@qichen85 5 месяцев назад
Technology is cleaner, well it is cleaner in China. European plants has been lagging behind on technology development and equipment upgrade and US is even worse in this regard. Modern plants (again, in China) has been using grounded coal powder since the 1980s (which will increase the combustion efficiency and has less particles in the exhaust), the modern combustion chambers and turbines are also built with heat recycling ability to improve the higher efficiency. But to be honest, the biggest improvement is probably that they moved the power stations to more remote corners of the country and then just transport power using newer ultra-high voltage transmission. The practical reality is that in order to accommodate the growing renewable energy penetration in the grid, you need to maintain a certain percentage of coal/gas based plants to deal with grid demand swings. The Chinese were trying not to rely on Middle East back in 1990s (since it was controlled by US back then) and the Russians were trying to sucking up to Europeans. So the Chinese were mostly using Australian/Indonesian coal and Central Asian gas for quite a while. This is, of course, until the Chinese can finally make nuclear fusion power generation commercially available, which is actually not that far away (as in, probably will happen within 30 years).
