Had this problem too. Sometimes I have to try 3 or 4 times to get a good load. I can always tell it’s a bad load if the response to “same as us and that thief over there “ is 3 to 13 seconds delay. “Damn you storm cloaks “ should only be a 1 sec delay if it’s a good load
I mean, as someone who didn't know any Bethesda games until last year when I decided to try Skyrim, this would have been a better intro. It would have prepared me mentally for the rest of the game. The closest I've gotten is Hadvar's horse on the character creation screen.
I would say, look up tweaking your skyrim.init file to add more buffering, a lower limit on the number of scripts etc. or better yet, just avoiding the scene altogether with a convenient save file or a mod that bypasses the camera control tutorial cut.
The opening sequence is very sensitive to bugs. Some of the early videos during development are hilarious. It is surprising as to why it had to be driven by the game engine and couldn't just be mostly a video cut background with the engine only driving your point of view. It's almost as if management was obsessed with the game engine. It's no wonder that occasional updates to the engine would destsbilize it. However, a reasonable engineer would recognize the behaviour as a under damped feedback loop and that adding a reduction in gain and or a delay would stsbilize it so simply increasing friction in the physics model should prevent this. Of course, it's likely that friction isn't even in the game physics. Sigh, this is what happens when scientists and applied scientists aren't involved with a computer simulation of reality but the egos of management are...
Just download the MOD *Alternate Start - Live Another Life - SSE.* It give you multiple different starts _(One of which is a hunter just north of Helgan, so you have to go back there as though you've done all this, but no cart ride or jumping from a burning tower into a burning building.)_ to the game. However, you can still do this original start... *_If you really like punishing yourself_* 8-))...
