Would definitely help a lot more people than the constantly revolving door of psychologists. That’s probably the worst problem is the constant reliving of the trauma because one can’t just get the same therapist that already knows and can keep a consistent treatment plan.
he could add to his TED-talk that his dyslexia was truly his kryptonite... and superpower! (Look it up!) There are A LOT of successful people who have it!
Listen folks, former Officer here. Stop telling your kids they aren’t good enough to be an Officer. This guy had prior Enlisted experience in two career fields, gutted out a degree while in service, and was decorated. I have no doubt he would have made a fine Officer and literally made twice the income, but his dad tore him down. Don’t do that, Officers are just people that shouldn’t be on an unrealistic pedestal.
Plus it's not like there's a penalty for trying to get commissioned. What's the worst that can happen, they say no and you walk back to the enlistment office like you originally planned? May as well give it a shot.
As both a former enlisted and former officer in the Navy, I can say without question that there are many officers who shouldn't be let out of the house, let alone be in command of anyone or anything - but they have a college degree and someone agreed to let them in. We really need to end quotas and focus on quality. But yes, I'm also a combat-wounded disabled veteran and this guy is great. I have no doubt that he would have been a fine officer and certainly could have been an asset in leading men, if for no other reason than he'd already been there and done that, and that's what a lot of it is.
As a disabled Vet who has come close to being one of those 22 a day too many times to count, thank you for giving me a new way to live. i can do 300 too. I saw your video yesterday when my husband played it, and wanted to come back today to rewatch it on my own to let you know that those 5 minutes have helped me survive another day. I can do this too. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can count to 300 everytime. God Bless You.
As another Vet, I hope you realise that, despite not knowing you personally, you are important and you are enough. Be strong, you will prevail. I believe in you.
Got discharged in May 5, 1988 .94B , food specialist.. Had room board, food. I'm only 40%, I turned 55 years old , last month . The song I can't drive 55. Actually I didn't think I was going to live this long. But yes, waiting like 35yrs. For my. 100% ...they hate young honest working females. I left home at 17yrs old. Did bootcampp, 2nd semester of high school. Turned 18in July, 1987. Flew to Alaska the same day. Ft. Richardson, Alaska. 90505.? HHC 6th I.D. Grizzly Bears. Had knee surgery at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska cuz that was the nearest hospital at the time. I fell , had a concussion, tore knee up, woke up in the hospital, at Ft. Wainwright... somehow these in secure little pricks. don't wanna pay me . Cuz they hate women, especially making the same income. But yeah. True story. God bless all DAVs. Thank you for your service. So I can have freedom, .of speech. And God bless all veterans. Sorry for rambling. Amen. 🇺🇸
God bless ya baby. I’m a vet of the Air Force served during desert storm and I didn’t see the things you did. I’m just a wrench turner keeping the planes in the air. Sending prayers and love.💕
You wrote that blank check he was talking about, the one dedicating your life if need be for our country. Thank God, that check wasn't cashed but you did your duty and what was asked of you. Most of the military supports a small portion that does the dangerous stuff and is as important. Thank you for your service.
I was Army and used to tease my Air Force friends. Then I was stationed in Germany in a joint Air Force / Army community and lived in Air Force housing. Good times.
That was great, so great! My dad was Staff Sargent in the Army...and he went on to raise 2 men , love his wife and help other Vets for 30 years at the VA with his struggles too. Bless you all. 😊
I am not a vet but am surrounded by several in my family. Some came out positive, some ngative. But all are glad they served. I am proud of them all. Am also proud of you! Thank you for serving to protect our nation. I am grateful!
Best closing monologue I’ve ever seen on DBC hands down. Seems like a man who’s had to fight to survive. May God take his demons and replace them with laughter and love. ❤
Great set. I did the opposite of what you did, active Navy, Army Reserve and Guard, and finally retired from the Air Force. I’m also 100% p&t, I’m going to start using the 300/ 5 minute rule. God Bless you Brother.
Love you! Thank you for your help with your testimony 🙏🙂😂😂😂😂 it was healing and very funny! Keep spreading your story man. My brother was in the military. He came back, he wasn't able to adjust back to civilian life after the war. Thank you for happiness you spread.
Probably why I drink so much now. When I got to my first base, they had me open the door to my dorm room, throw in my luggage and then lock it with the words. We’re going to a party now. Welcome to Bentwaters.
@@TarotTarot1the military helped create a huge population of alcoholics. Ask any Veteran. I, myself, served four years in the US Air Force, and then used the GI bill to go to college.
What an inspiration this guy is! Brave and funny, I hope to see a lot more. Thanks a million, bro, for serving our country and standing up for freedom! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍🏻❤️
I like this guy!. Took a little bit to get into the groove but he was awesome 👏!! I like his comedy mixed with story telling style. Would luv to see more of him!!! Thanks DryBar!
Sir, you've raised your hand three more times than this civi. Thank you for your service. We need more people like you. Keep fighting through it. A great video like this can help a lot of vets through their 5 minutes. 🇺🇸👍
Teared up at that last part. My dad served too, for nearly ten years right out of high school, both Navy and Army. Thanks for your service Will, and thanks for the laugh. You're a real one 🫡
I salute you, brother. I have wanted to serve ever since I was a tike; but never got to. I would still go if asked, but nobody's gonna ask at this point. I'm way too old. 🇺🇸
You're a true man of character Sir. Your sense of humor and faith will see you through. May God bless you and your family. Thank you for your service and your love for our country.
God bless you sir ... I was active in the AF.. during desert storm..gulf war.. transportation.. I was responsible for shipping things to what ever base over there... aircraft parts.. vehicle parts..etc . this was how I supported our troops.. getting what they needed..ASAP..GOD BLESS AMERICA
My machine shop teacher made me take the ASVAB while I was in high school. I ended up with one of the highest scores in the nation; 3 or 4 fully decked out sailors came to my house and my school to recruit me on multiple occasions. My dad, most of my uncle's, my mom, my grandparents, all veterans convinced me to not go. My mom (retired) is a naval architect(also did some tank and submarine systems), her youngest brother (became a mercenary) had the in on bad things coming. They weren't wrong; I still question taking their advice. I remember being a little kid hanging out on various ships all over the world, I sat in more captains chairs than I sat in seats of cars I owned. I'm happy with where I'm at; sometimes I wonder if I would be happier if I pursued what put the biggest smile on my face as a kid..... I'll never know. God bless anyone who served.
My brother was stationed at Norton and I was stationed at Lackland where we did train Marines to perform brig duty, so this man's story rings true. I'm glad he found comedy as his therapy. Not everyone is so fortunate.
Thank you for serving our country 3 times! Being a medic, I'm sure you did a lot of good, being a comic you are doing a lot of good! I hope you will keep looking forward!
As a 100% p&t, I've been close to that 22 a day. I Pray that someday it gets easier. They never prepared us for when we were all broken down and in pain, and what to do when we are civilians. It's learning a whole new life.
My recruiter told me that I could easily change jobs once I was in the military. Recruiters get paid to lie. I wanted to be a Russian translator for the Pentagon and I ended up being a wrench Turner working on airplanes.
Awesome. Ive been to a few of the places you were stationed. Army and the Navy and a crazy experience. Love your comedy. Keep pushing, your gonna make it!
Cool to hear about the 3 services, it is rare. My dad did WWII in the Army Air Corps when it was a thing. The Korea in the Army (82nd). Then did over 20 more in the Air Force with 5 years in SE Asia. And then all of his kids picked a service and spent some time as well. Always good to hear an uplifting story from someone avoiding the dark side.
This guy is funny. I've never been in the military, but I have had chronic pain since I was 12. Pain sees pain, it's a different pain but it's real. The 300 seconds hit me, because I KNOW that feeling.
Amen! I so enjoyed your story, your fortitude, integrity, creativity on following your own path and not others! I respect you. Thank you for serving this country and thank you for sharing your journey. God continue to bless you!
I just can't get over moving from the Air Force to Marines, unless you were stationed at Minot or Cannon. Top that with going in as enlisted with a college education, that has to be a joke.
Plenty of enlisted get college degrees and decide OCS doesn't make sense for their career path. But if you're getting recruited for an officer position why would you enlist, especially if they're going to drop you to E2? Better pay, better benefits, less likely to end up medically disqualified (he wanted to do his 20).
Thank God for someone who understands what it's like to take that oath, to live up to it, and to remind other folks that there are men like him who keep us safe. And he's right about the VA -- VA hospitals are staffed with medical students from nearby teaching hospitals. I've been through that merry-go-round. Just when you start to develop a relationship with a doctor, POOF! They're gone, and you start over with a new one.
100% disabled Marine and Army vet here, and I commend Will for the fortitude and perseverance he shows! Yeah, I felt what he was saying about being on diet tray, except I was 15 lbs. UNDER my max weight and they put me on diet tray for "aesthetic" reasons. After being on the diet tray for a month they took me off and I still only weighed 145 lbs. when I graduated from PI. The first thing my Mom said when she saw me was "What did they do to you? You look anorexic!" Thanks for noticing Mom! 😂
Not so much comedy as a testimony. No worries, you'll find better material. Thank you for your service. I'm sure you have some hilarious war stories you can pull from. Even my buddy Don, a Vietnam veteran, would crack me up in the telling of how he got shot. He literally left his body as he was still running after being shot and did his own recon from above him. Then when he rejoined his own body that was still running be broke out laughing like a maniac after a couple of thoughts that ran through his head. First was, "They done shot me and now they're trying to kill me" and the second one was, "And I used to play this as a kid".
