Why did she needed him to speak up on her behalve? If she is not capable to do so herself, then it’s better to let others rule and decide for her. She could have politely but strictly say that she and her husband are a family now and these kind of things is too private to let others to have a voice in it.
You clearly either haven't been in a relationship or you are just ignoring the fact that they are only married for 2 months. There are a few things called respect and decorum. Maintaining it just improves the familial relations. Letting your husband handle it before you do will also make you realise that in future, if needed, will your husband take a stand for you? This is simply that.
