She worked there several years, and to go to another job, she would need to provide him as a reference, or explain what she'd been doing during that time & would have nothing to account for...lowering her amount of experience, and chance of getting a comparable position anytime soon.... So while she was not reported, her idiocy could and probably would come and bite her in the arse, because she'd know she'd not get a positive reference from him. An employer wants to see an active working record. Also, Being fired also in many countries negatively impacts opportunities for unemployment insurance...(if applicable there.)
