I have an AH customer (I work in the field) who was unhappy about being called out for not doing the most simple tasks to get his stuff working when I'm busy working on his other equipment. After a back and forth he tells me "we need to have a chat next time you're here." I said "no, I don't think I want to do that." The dude had no idea how to respond 🤣Get the FO Chuck, without me keeping your stuff running you'll be unemployed next week, you've got nothing on me.

Worked in a factory making parts for military vehicles. The manager would waddle through the shop ONCE a month spending all of 5 minutes there, glad handing everyone and saying good job, and the supervisor would come back after he left to tell us everything he told him he thought we were doing wrong. I asked the supervisor how would he know what was wrong-how would he know anything about this shop besides what he sees on the spreadsheets. Supervisor didn't have an answer.

Things I've had said to me in past jobs: Joe, I need you to restock the 5-gal roof tar, we've been out for three days and they're still sitting on the dock (I was off for three days, btw). Joe, would you go pick up that paper down (whatever aisle it was), I have walked past it three times and it's still there. Joe, when you're done cleaning up the dock, you need to sweep the floor (while I have the broom in my hand). Joe, we need to get all this freight pushed to the floor - manager claps hands - chop, chop (manager goes and sits in his office all day). Coworker: I'm not sure where this goes. Manager: Well, where do you think it goes? Me: Now I have to move all this stuff back to where it's SUPPOSED to go. I once had the idea to put tape measures at the register when I had a different manager at a lumber yard I worked at to help with 'add on sales'. My new manager tells me one day: "Joe, stop putting the tape measures up at the registers, we don't need the clutter". A couple weeks later, corporate calls and wonders why our sales on tape measures dropped so sharply. And that's only a few things.

Once I worked at a textile mill (back before they all moved out of the US) and I had this happen to me. I was a fixer for 14 frames. The floor manger said they did not need me and was eliminating my position as unnecessary. She said she almost never seen me doing any work on the machines. She said on the rare occasions something did need work she could just call the shop to take care of it. That was on a Friday. I was told by a friend that still worked there that the production floor just about came to a stand still as the shop could not stay on the production floor all that time and other parts of the mill needed work as well. And the shop did not have the experience on the old machines (made in the 40's-60's), the machines were older that the shop guys. I only knew how the work on them from the old man that retired that I replaced. Withing a week the plant manger was pissed and every one realized just how much work I did do. They tried to get the old man that retired to come in until they could get a replacement a he told them forget it. He called me and told me they called him begging him to come back. That was the beginning of the end for that mill. Sorry for the long comment, That happened back in 95 and it still bugs me the way I was done.

"Yes" she said "Do you clean the windows, floor, furniture, or the bathrooms? Do you cook?" "No." she says "Well there you go." "But I never see you do anything. When I get home, you're always lounging about." "that's at like what, 9pm or later?" "Yes." "I already did everything I needed to do for the day. By then I'm resting." I’m a somewhat recently promoted manager. With a 20+ year history of blue collar work, not even heavy duty blue collar work, mostly DSD sales jobs, bread routes/snack routes. Nothing like real labor jobs, but still not easy. So I come from a background of working holidays and weekends, during worst winter weather, in crappy rundown delivery trucks. One of my first managerial situations was creating the regular weekly work schedule. I knew who the most senior guys were, and I knew they did excellent work. So I gave them the most coveted hours. Then I got blowback from the newest guy who thought I was showing favoritism and wanted the most desirable hours. Going back to my days as a driver when routes were assigned by tenure and experience I was quite blunt in how I was going to run the department and that I will absolutely reward those who’ve been here the longest and “paid their dues”. I knew I could rely on them. And I knew they’d do a good job. And left it at that. Few weeks later we had a full department meeting with MY boss present to make sure “all voices were heard” and that I was too strong headed in my approach. In the end we went with my plan and now that younger worker actually likes his shift and is developing into a good worker himself. I told my boss after that the workplaces I come from if a new guy came on and demanded the best route he would have been told where he can shove it. That I might be blunt, but I’ll be the fairest boss they ever had.

Boss would sit me down and have a talk with constantly about how im not doing enough. What he wanted everytime was to push and come up with new ideas for the company. As in marketing, inventory, item recommendations. Basically wanting me to take initiative on things that should be on him to do. Keep in mind I wasn't there for any of that, I got hired on to operate a interactive station but turns out it was just a retail job. Working at daycare and the director had the gall to say I don't do my job because I don't sweep, or mop, because when she did it herself the water came up brown and there were piles of dust around. Even after mopping a floor the water WON'T EVER come out crystal clear in a classroom that has constant foot traffic, especially after recess. I mop two rooms every day but they are lil baby rooms so the floors themselves aren't that bad, the water in there comes out pretty clean. Besides all the other rooms have periods where they AREN'T mopped so I'm not suprised if the water did come out concerningly brown. And sweeping is the exact same way, I dust mopped a room, everything was spotless. Decided to dust mop immediately again, and dirt comes up. These sorts of people expect you to somehow do your job flawlessly within a short time limit, when they themselves have no idea how any of it works.

Yeah, I've had managers and supervisors like this. You could be busting your ass for 5 hours straight, not see them once. But the moment you step away to take a break, they're right there seeing you not working and complaining about it.

Ive had this confrontation😂😂. I challenged him to walk my departments and all the depts as far as paint, 5 for those counting at home; and find 1 customer that didnt know my name. Find one hack of lumber not flat stacked and culled, 1 product that we show in stock thats not on the shelf and faced. Find one aisle that hasnt been swept and cleaned. He disappeared for about 30min and actually came back and apologized

I actually had this happen. I was doing manual labor with a bunch of other guys, and the other guys sat around doing nothing. So every hour or so, I'd get tired and sit down for a couple minutes, and since no work was being done when I stopped, the other guys actually did something for those couple minutes. Naturally that's the only time my boss would come around. From his perspective, I sat around doing nothing all day and everyone else was doing all the work. Didn't matter when I sat down, my boss showed up without fail right then.

That's them bosses that are prepping to see if you can battle it out before they fire you so they say stupid shit like that to make you quit or kick they asses. Now imma be honest, this is the BEST "How NOT to treat employees as a Production Supervisor" training vid. This will remove any and all "I'm in charge" thinking types off the bat. I had to call EEOC a couple times to straighten shit up on 10 occasions because of know it all management that thinks a write up is gonna make me change from doing my job to doing my job... out of policy

Fun fact, in most work especially unioned and especially government work you cannot be written up by your supervisor. They can give you warnings but not write ups. This is likely 100% the case if the company has a HR. They can grieve to HR in the form of documentation but if your supervisor pulls you in for a chat like this, you should either request a witness or better yet record the convo. I'm talking as the guy who is behind the guy being a dummy. The amount of bad supervisors X_X. Basically

This actually happened to me at my old job. Call it timing or luck. But every time I finished doing my work, and decided to chill for 60 seconds. The supe walks up and looks at me and then pulled me to have a "talk" about my productivity. This isn't a skit, this is a documentary.

The first job I ever worked in my life had a boss like this. I would stock an entire aisle with my box, then I would stop for 4 minutes to stretch my back. Bossman would walk past that aisle at that point. He would constantly berate me for that. Meanwhile, I'd walk up to my coworker an hour later and find out that his box he had started on was still full, and he straight up would tell me "Yeah I've been goofing off this whole time, and every time I start to actually work, the boss would walk by. Wanna try these bubble wands?" You cannot convince me that luck is not a stat.

I'm always "on the radar" until they still don't see me working the hardest jobs in places no one else wants to go to. Someone has to clean out the gutters or it all backs up. Honestly I'd rather not be seen doing it. It's dirty hard work but I appreciate the compliments from other WORKERS when they say "Hey thanks for cleaning out the gutters. I was worried they'd back up if someone didn't do something."

Last job I had, the owner just stopped asking, and saw the security feed. Saw I worked till there was nothing left as the sole remaining employee before I'd sit while waiting for customers. Never complained again, she was happy I could organize well enough to earn myself some downtime. If the work is done, it's evident. You need to see it with your eyes, but once you do, don't double down like this video shows. Just drop it, the job is being done. Push it, and good workers start walking cause they have better things to do with their time than put up with you.

I work this gift that would come to my desk while I was eating lunch. At the same time I'd scroll yahoo on my phone. He'd come out ignoring the sandwich in my hand and ask me to do a task. Later he would p**s and moan he always caught me browsing on my phone. When I pointed out that the only time I was ever at my desk was lunch, he responded how was he supposed to know that. I responded with, "Well I thought the sandwich and chips in my mouth were a dead give away, but I guess next I'll put up a sign" Then he got upset that my response was so rude. Like I said he was a gift from the short bus faeries

Dude this has been my coworkers for years. I typically work shifts where I'm the only person in the building, and they come in for their shift and see tons of work was done. The problem is for the hour we have overlap they are like "you never do anything so how do you get so much done?" Got a new supervisor at one job that bought the lie of the other guys that I didn't do anything. They came in Monday morning to more work done that the entire 2 shifts of the week. The supervisor asked why I didn't get any work done over the weekend. Huh?

At a recent job of mine I called my supervisor incompetent to his face when this exact scenario happened. Pulled me into the main office for a sit down to talk about my work ethic and how he has never seen me working or at my supposed assigned or usual work areas, and whenever he did see me that I was "slacking off" (taking a water break or sitting down to rest for a moment after loading/unloading pallets of product) I said to him that If he actually got off his ass and bothered to learn our jobs and understand the process instead of staring at a screen and sticking to the cooperate script to read off of when things go wrong (due to his lack of leadership) I wouldn't have to go around the workplace helping everyone out so we actually get done on time. He exploded on me and went on a tirade of how long he has worked there and how he "earned" his position. Long story short I was written up and stalked by him and his snitches since.

I service porta johns for a living, had a client from outta state tell me I’m inconsistent and don’t show up on the scheduled service, he brought his boat from outta town and blocks one of the toilets every week, I blow the air horn at him and he comes out saying I don’t come on the same day consistently(I’m there every Friday at lunch time) proceeds to tell me he’s running a 4 million dollar project and I interrupt his very important business calls when I toot the air horn. Proceeds to block toilets and then switches out of town shifts with some other asshole. This is a yank problem. Not a southern one.

Not even a minute in and started dying. "All I see you doing is eat sandwiches and smoke cigarettes'" lmaooo! Perfect comedic pause. You think that's all he seen, the dudes break activity. Nope he also see those 2 minutes where he smoked haha. the rest of the video is awesome too. When the boss is surprised he been there four years thinking he been there just a couple months hahaha! That's even worse haha! He in four years has not once seen em work.

Reminds me of my wife. I can be working and doing chores all day long, non stop. But if I lay down in the evening to rest and to watch a video for 10 minutes, she storms into the room and starts yelling how I’m lazy and don’t do anything around the house. I guess some people see only what they want to see.

This is so accurate its insane. This is not just an example of someone of management on a power trip but its also showing how there's a strong possibility that the upper company management needs to find excuses to get rid of individuals because of a decrease in profit. It happens all the time in the workforce and they sometimes place that responsibility on people like this manager in the video. They'll literally sometimes just pick random people they don't personally talk to and try to make it easier on themselves to release them since it's nobody of importance in their own lives. Ive seen it go down so many times first hand its ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, not all people in the position of management want to do this. Sometimes they have no choice in the matter which makes it a bit unfair to give them the burden of making such a harsh or tough decision. Some people actually have a heart and hate when that phase has to be performed, it sucks.
