When I was 8, my dad brought home a female Doberman Pinscher puppy. We did everything together and she was so smart. When I was 20, I was home on leave from the USMC, and she climbed up into my bed, out her head on my chest, and died. I sure do miss you, Heidi.
My Jack Russell Jazzy passed away Jan. 2022. I had her for almost 15 years. I have never been so heartbroken in my life! I still miss her so much! I knew she was special, but I now realize how much joy and happiness not to mention companionship she brought me. RIP sweet girl...someday I know we will see each other again
I just lost my demonic and possessive male JRT just 4 weeks ago. The first 2 years were tough but we made it and our relationship grew stronger each day. He was only 10 , far too young to 🌈 but I have adjusted to his absence. I take comfort in having his ashes close by.
Dogs are amazing animals. They bring so much into your life. The worst part of owning a dog is saying goodbye, but what they give you far outweighs the hole in your life they leave behind. It’s worth it.
I lost my beautiful girl and best friend JRT two years ago. Heartbreaking 💔 she was with me for 17 years. So wise, kind and always up for adventure and cuddles in the sofa. She helped me through so many times when life was too hard. I Iove her so and she will always be with me. One of a kind dog❤️. Now I have a new friend her little brother and he is such a joy and love in our life. Glad I was able and brave enough to open our home to a new puppy ❤
@lotus ... I understand completely! I'm still not quite there, to get another dog. I know nothing will replace Jazzy cuz , she was a special smart dog. I do know that I'm still left feeling empty without her. Maybe someday I can open my heart again, and life will be better with a loyal sidekick again! HAGD!

My Pug Sassy passed away several years ago. She was my little buddy. Always by my side. She would sleep with her head laying somewhere on me. Best sleep partner I ever had. Not a day goes by that I don't miss her.
Some dogs are just too good for humans. It's wonderful to see this kind of love between owners and their pets. The sad part is when they have to leave us. Grief is the price we pay for the loss of those loving friends and it leaves a hole in our hearts. My favorite cat has been been gone fifty years but I still love that gentle boy and hope someday I will see him again. ❤️

Find a friend's dog you like and "dog sit" for the afternoon, or take them to the dog park. There were a couple families where I used to live who joked they shared a dog. Dog would sleep & eat at his house, but spend the day with a lady in the neighborhood and her dog. Everybody's happy & gets attention. Maybe you could do dog walking for company & to make extra money

New dog in my life..best thing ever. Dogs are not pets, they are endless reasons to smile. I also have 4 kids. Love them all. The dog wins the high-enthusiasm, low-expectation category. Kids lose out only because we taught them how to speak.

Sweet, I recall how a friend's dog who I was second home to, could tell when I was in terrible pain when I had cancer. He was out of sorts and kept nuzzling me, it was a great comfort even as I struggled with the worst pain of my life.
