It sounds like he didn’t visit enough for the boy to even know who he was. Then he would show up wanting to take him somewhere. It would be like giving the child to a stranger, which would terrify the kid. He needs to develop a relationship with his kids for them to spend one-on-one time with him.

That got me too. "I'm not paying for my kids because I had other bills" and I'm thinking what if those kids aren't getting food? Or don't have warm clothes? While deadbeat selfish dad is spending money on himself.

Even with legal child support it's not a guarantee, my kids dad went over 5 years without paying support, he wouldn't get a real paying job so he wouldn't have to pay! He had jobs that paid him cash and never had to pay support because it was documented he was out of work. He also told the child support people if he paid child support plus paid for their medical he wouldn't have any money for himself. so they changed it and made it so he wouldn't have to put them on his medical at work. My youngest(of 2) turned 18 in May he had not seen his dad since he was a little over 2 , so pretty much for 16 years he never saw him, never heard from him, not a card nothing (either of my children), not a happy birthday, several years ago they both added him to their Facebook - still barely spoke a whole sentence to them. Come the Middle of October my son tells me "I'm moving to Ohio" I thought he was going to live with my dad since that was his plan for the last 2 years, I said well who's picking you up? and when? He told me the day he was moving, he was moving, and he didn't want to tell me who was picking him up, but he had to since they'd be pulling into my drive way soon - it was his dad. now he's living with his dad at 18 and his dad is trying to be the Dad that was never there for the last 16 years! It's more of a friendship than a father- son relationship my children have that Father-child relationship with my boyfriend of the last 13 years

I'm thinking he's cheap. Maybe he broke and live out of his girlfriend... No woman would want to support her lover's (unwanted) kids...
