I hate those situations. I always feel like I need to be the extroverted person, because the other one is more introverted then me and doesn't start talking at all. Awkward silence is pure torture!

As an introvert, I have a disdain for people who regularly show up late or try to reschedule. I have to mentally prepare myself for social interaction, and if my energies are wasted, it feels like a betrayal of me and the friendship, especially if it occurs on a regular basis. I truly do believe that flakiness is one of the main problems with maintaining friendships today. Because people have cell phones, they feel that they can just cancel at the last minute.

This is just like whenever my wife runs out "real quick" and company arrives before she gets back!

I’m an extrovert and most of my friends are introverts. I was having a heart to heart with one of my close friends and I had asked her what she thinks I would need to change in order to succeed in moving to a new state and city. She mentioned flakiness and cancelling plans last minute (on top of practical/pragmatic points like having a certain savings etc). It really took me by surprise because I consider myself pretty reliable when it comes to work and what I consider important or immediate activities. Although I am “social” (or considered social) I think of social gatherings and such at the bottom of my hierarchy of important deeds or actions I need to do. Sometimes I feel like I don’t really make a difference being there or if someone were to cancel on me, although I would miss seeing them around, my “hostess” mentality takes over to try and make sure everyone at the gathering is comfortable that I get busy. It made me feel kind of good that I am missed, but horrible that I would cause someone any sort of duress to the point of irritating someone and searing it in their memory. It’s good to see the other point of view.

Anyway it's actualy Chuck's problem that he cannot deal with silence.

How many different Frank's are there inside of you? This one was so familiar because, I am acting all the time depending on who I'm with and where I'm at. It made me think about how different I seem to different people. I told one person I was an introvert last week and they started laughing, hysterically!! While I find the videos funny, I would kind of like to see an introvert party. These things do exist. In my experience, they revolve around board games, though some other activity could be the focus. I was watching this and wondering "well, why don't you get on with whatever activity you'd planned on doing? The talking will then follow." Because there is no way introverts agreed to get together just to talk without having a specific issue in mind that needed to be resolved.

I would try to be sociable and chatty but I can do that for like five minutes, tops. Twenty minutes is killer. By the time Chuck arrived I would need a nap. Evening’s done at that point lol

My husband, two other introverts and I went to a comedy show recently to support one of the performers. Four of us were at the table. Three of us are Introverts. Fourth is my husband who's an extrovert but familiar with all of us. Waiting for the show, none of us were talking. Performer came, and gave us info about each other sssuming we needed fodder for conversation. I realized that none of us had missed taking to each other and were perfectly comfortable just sitting and observing the crowd or fiddling with our respective phones.

LOL Introverts are able to converse one on one... if they're friends. My best friend and I are both introverts, but a fly on the wall listening to our conversations might not immediately pick up on that.

This has to be the first time I was actually shocked that it ended! I was seriously expecting to see Kyle show up and was shocked when he didn't! But yeah, poor Max .. I mean .. hiding the obvious hurt and pain that a stranger inflicted on him through a phone call to the extroverted friend that they both know. :( I still like Chuck though. Once again, Frank James absolutely NAILS the relatability! When I invite people over, it's sometimes the introverts that show up first and I'm just pleading for the one extrovert in the group to finally show up, the one dry log on the fire of conversation.

That's why I dont want to be alone with someone. There has to be 2 or more than 2 people with me so it wont be boring. Im an awkward and boring introvert person and it's giving me anxiety always.

I have been in this EXACT situation! I mean, right down to the dead battery. I have an extrovert friend who has another very introverted friend. I went to the other introvert’s house to wait for the extrovert to meet us there so we could go see a movie. She was running late. Like really late. The only difference was that the two of us (the introverts) were obsessing over being late to the movie. We weren’t obsessing together, mind you; we were each checking our phones to look at start times and other options in case we couldn’t get there on time for the movie we planned to see. And then I realized that my phone was at like 7%.

I'm actually never waiting on extroverted friends. I'm fine talking with introverts one on one. Extroverts are energy vampires anyway. They like to think they're the life of the party, but they just suck the life out of the party most of the time talking about themselves.
