Your mother in law is such a great great person!! Because of you, she learns to adapt and she is so willing to change, to adjust, to communicate... such a sincere soul with a beautiful heart!!
Miriam, your mother-in-law is such a natural diplomat. She is so kind and open. Of course, her attitude is in response to your openness and eagerness to learn and share. Your father-in-law is very self deprecating. How sweet that he loves being called grandfather. Lovely family, all of you!
You cannot help but love Grandma Wang! That perpetual smile is so infectious that she brightens up everyone's spirits in her household. Yonghong's family must be the most beloved family in the village. What a blessing that you bring too! Happy New Year!!!
Your mother in law make me cry. Please send him a special greeting from Romania .We are about the same age and i understand her very well. There should be a special award for films that ordinary people make about their lives and those around them. I see videos made in China, in Russia, in the US and the people are very similar. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
I started tearing up from the moment YongHong's father said that "in this life," he'd always wanted to learn a handicraft but never had... I kind of understood that they'd had pretty rough lives, especially in their youth, but it sounds like he was really living hand-to-mouth in his younger years 😔. The way they have both adapted to their new lives, with Miriam and YongHong's "newfangled" ways and approaches to childrearing, etc., is really something special. It's really interesting to hear their stories and to realize how similar their experiences are to others of their generation and background all over the world
The grandfather really cares for Lian, makes sure he gets fed, dresses up and takes him f walk. Grandfather wants to visit Sweden, that would be nice. Grandma a very hardworking lady, cooking food to feed the family. Interestingly the kids are picking Qinghai dialect from the grandparents.
Thanks for clarifying that. It's truly special that their grandparents have such a great influence on their language. These kids have a strong foundation 💕
I am in awe when I think of your in-laws. Their life hadn't been easy, yet they adapted, thrived and stayed so openminded and kind-hearted. Now they've adapted again - and I know how hard that can be. Being a happy, loving, multicultural family is easy and efortless only in the works of fiction. Lost of love to your whole family! Thank you and Yonghong for sharing your beautiful content.
What a wonderful mother-in -law ! I am amazed by her personality. She is open minded, down to the earth with a big warm heart. How can you not to fall in love with a kind lady like her.
Your in laws are so pure hearted. Just great human beings. You are lucky to have such welcoming and loving in laws and they are lucky to have such a enterprising equally sweet and kind daughter in law 💕🙏
Mom of Yonghong is a very smart woman with high IQ and EQ. If she was born in a more developed city, got better education, she could have become one of those successful woman😀. Your cooking book of Qinghai local food will be very valuable, looking forward to it!
I agree! The older I get and the more I learn about people from all over the world, the more I realize we all have more in common than many people realize.
Your father-in-law and your mother-in-law are very wise. How I would love to meet them. Such delightful to hear/read their answers to the questions. I am English speaking so I'm grateful for the translation. Even when they aren't translated, I read the comments and translations to get some idea of what is being said. Love all your videos
I remember rolling my eyes years ago when I first saw the thumbnail for your video about your mil because my own Chinese mil was particularly difficult at that time, but yours won me over immediately and I always love it when she shows up with her lovely smile. She just seems so charming, gentle but also super cool and tough. Also she looks beautiful in her flower shirt! Your father in law is really charming too and seeing him with yours kids is just heart-melting. He’s really handsome! I always wonder if Yonghong just has a really young dad or if his dad is just very young for his age. Anyway, please tell them that they have a Swedish fan in Taiwan. I hope to see a video some day of them going abroad with you guys! And I would love to learn even more about their backstory.
I noticed when you returned from Sweden how the bond between Lian & grandpa started to emerge almost immediately. I'm sure he will be a granpa's boy. Listening and learning everything when he gets older. Taking care of his grandpa when he gets old. Also appriciated granpa's business instinct. 👍 And lovely MIL so open minded, (btw loved that blouse !), resilent and wise. So different we could think ( heard rumours how suspicious MILs could be against foreign DIL) Cookbook ! Yay !!! Defenitely would purchase it. Thank you for this Q&A.
A beautiful family, all working together to understand each other's ways. It's so lovely. Your Mother-in-Law looks so pretty in that lovely top she was wearing. I hope you do publish a book together. I am looking forward to that. Bless you all.
Your in-laws are so generious, Miriam! Thoughtful and kind and I think a lot different than perhaps many other in-laws might be! You are quite fortunate. I think Yonghong will grow up to look like his father. YES! I am so excited that you are going to make a cookbook! But please ask your MIL to also make videos to go with the cookbook. Some of us work better having watched something being made. (And of course I just love watching your mother in law cook, and to watch her hands while cooking. It is a to me such a thing of beauty watching those hands.) Please thank them for sharing their thoughts. I am sure it is not so comfortable for them as it is now for you and Yonghong. Yes, it must be amazing for them to think you can earn money by making videos, but with their help you are teaching us a lot about a different culture and I think we need to learn to be more open about other cultures.
In the video on November 18, Miriam was actually digging out a cesspit. What force made her leave such a rich, developed and comfortable environment in Sweden and come to the rural areas of Qinghai, China? I think besides Hong's personal charm, there must be something else? Now I really want to go to Sweden to learn about the education system and social philosophy of this country, and I want to chat with Swedes on the street! Merry Christmas to all Swedes
This was such a beautiful video it made me cry! Please thank your parents-in-law for sharing their thoughts with us, they seem like such beautiful and kind people. xx
Your in-laws are simple but very thoughtful and considerate. I definitely look forward to videos of your mother-in-law cooking, growing vegetables and the rural life in the village
Your mother-in-law is kind-hearted, humble. She's also wise. Do cheerish your parents-in-law. Be happy always, all the best for your future undertakings 👍
Ich bin total begeistert von eurer ganzen Familie und danke 💐 euch dafür, dass ihr uns allen Einblicke in eure Leben gebt. Herzliche Grüße aus Deutschland ☃️
By the way I am from Hong Kong Special Administration Zone of China, we are enjoying life peacefully in HK and don’t have to suffer fear as in 2019, in that year with lots of riots every weekends . Nowadays our good time won’t be board-casted by Western media😅 I have been watching this couple’s videos before they returned to China, they have great characters and so are the in laws🎈💕🎈💕
This was another important documentary ! Beautifully done Miriam. Your father in law, so cute and so sweet with your sons. Your mother in law so kind. Both so openminded. Willing to learn about you and from you. So much love there ! Thank you for this !🙏💕🙏
Sounds like you have good in-laws. Father-in-law loves babysitting, that is helpful and I am sure your boys love him.Mother-in-law looks like sweet lady who wants the best for her family. I think you lucked out. Not all Chinese are like them. Your husband is also special.❤️❤️❤️😄
Wishing a super Christmas to Miriam, Yonghong, San San & Lian. I know you celebrate the Chinese new year but am unsure if you also celebrate a western christmas too. Whatever you do, have a brilliant time and share lots of love. 🎄🇬🇧
Your mum-in-law is so lovely - so well spoken and gentle. She is always smiling and seems happy to be involved in your videos, which I feel makes it much easier for you both to get along. love your relationship with your family❤
Hi from France. So interresting for us because all we know about China and chineese people is what we read or see. And I am sure it is not the reality. You show us the rules of a family like we could find in any countries. I had another point of view and by following you and your family I start to find very interesting to see how the family is very important in China. But may be you are also lucky to be accepted . Because even in France sometimes it is hard to have a good relation ship with the family in law. I really like your husband's family always smiling, caring . What else can you ask. Probably it was very difficult for your husband's family to envisage having a foreigner in the family. But everything is cool now. Have a very happy NEW YEAR 2023.
A book!!!! Yes yes yes! With your vegetarian varieties. Please. Please do it. Oh my vegetarian heart! (Videos would be wonderful too because then we can soak up your mother-in-law's wisdom as of we were with her. She is just an absolute gem.)
Miriam, thank you for sharing with us all the treasures of rural China. Your parents in law seem to be beautiful souls. I'm looking forward for the recipe book
Wau! What amazing luck you had with youre inlaws and what amazing luck they had with you as a wife for there son!!! Its hard work, daily! I know that, my mam is from Sri Lanka she came married as 18 years old to switzerland where my father has lived! But my father is italien. So my upbringing was crazy 😂
This video is really heartwarming 💕 it's priceless to be able to grow up in a rural area, together with your grandparents. I was able to experience this in my childhood and still feel sorry that my child never had that possibility. Wishing them health and a long life ❣️
Thank you for sharing your in-laws with us! I look forward to every video posted by you and Yonghong. I would love to learn to cook some of your mother-in-law's cooking. Blessings to all of you.
Miriam, I love your relationship with your in-laws. They are very open about having a foreigner daughter-in -law and adapting to different situations. Love your vlogs! Keep them coming.
Thank you Miriam for letting us be part of Baos and Wangs live, amazing vlog I just love them. You always seem to capture them in a way to feel really connected with them, come over to have food with you guys and makes me curious and learn more about Chinese culture. I admire their simplicity, how hard they work, their view on life and being just happy where they are. I can't wait for the cookbook to come out. Will there be a vegetarian one as well? 😊
Omg what an absolutely amazing video. This is truly special. Thank you so much for sharing this because it's so important to understand how the parents felt when you married their son. You are a wonderful person, Miriam. I wish you and your family the very best....💕
