She was my English teacher in 8th grade. I'd love to give her a few more anecdotes from 1998. She seems to be in much higher spirits these days. Good for you Mrs. Kerley.
Probably she's not in higher spirits now... I mean, is easier to have a good mood by telling jokes, than by trying to teach anything to a crowd of goblins that don't want to be there. Being a teatcher isn't an easy task.
She did need to be polite with the crowd....she went on stage with a poorly prepared routine and deliver a show more like the ones they couldve seen in amateur's night at their neighbourhood comedy bar, without paying for the entrance.
@@Nayo68 I thought her routine was pretty funny. What she lacked was stage presence. Also I don't think she was playing to the right crowd. Her jokes were way over their heads because they were clearly a couple decades younger than her, maybe more. Pretty much jokes only a boomer would appreciate. I don't think a younger crowd would even know what she was talking about for many of her jokes. No frame of reference, you know? I'll bet most of her audience were born long after many of her references.
It's not that she introduced herself first and foremost as a woman with personal issues from TEXAS. It's that saying TEXAS (with a hard "T") to spice up any introduction may accidently provoke a defensive response. At the beginning of her act, I think it's risky that It could either bomb, or kill. She put time and money into her outfit and I like her material more than her hurried style
Laughed! So! Hard! Love the Pentecostal Putt-Putt! We had some cars, growing up, that ran on faith and gasoline! Had to get the right mix, or they'd leave you stranded!
She looks fabulous for being 57, men are looking... alot younger than that. I loved the Shakespearean fart joke, mostly for the romeo and juliet and how she indoctrinated the language to her romantic husband, lol Her song for estrogen was great
This Provo college crowd doesn't deserve her level of comedy. Stick her in a room of couples married over 10 years and she slays, guaranteed. My wife and I were rolling. Open a club up north, Drybar!
SO GOOD!!! Omg she was amazing🤣. But what was that awful crowd?! They were all afraid to clap at certain parts and questions😑. She deserved a better audience💯
texas can go through 4 different seasons in one day. In different parts of texas it can be snowing, cold, hot, and raining, and probably more. Still think it's better?
I knew I was an adult when I went from being embarrassed when my mom would say to the cashier, "hold on let me give you the 53 cents" to being the one telling the cashier "hold on, I have the 53 cents". 😂 If they're over 25 they'll thank you. I learned this as a cashier constantly running out of change.
I'm really starting to wonder what gets taught in the schools and Democratic states. Usually when they walk around asking everyone those questions to see how many Americans know what it's in like New York New Jersey California stuff like that and none of them know anyting like you ask them who fought in World War 2 and they have no idea you ask them who was in the Civil War they have no idea they don't even know what states are in our country
So, here's why. There's natural funny - which are the greats, and there is practiced in front of a camera for 2 years funny. (Interestingly, that's the same amount of time to get a Masters.) Guess which category she falls into? Maybe this audience thought they were going to see a professional (aka.natural) comedian that night. She does, however, get an A for effort.
I don't do online dating anymore. Gave that up after 2 years because nobody looked like their photos, nor do they really believe or live the way they say they do on dating sites. I simply saw online dating as the liar's domain, and I don't want to be around liars. also, eHarmony said it could match me with my perfect mate, but at the end of all the profile questions it could not find a single match for me. I figured I was either ahead of my time, too intelligent, or I was doomed. Never went back to online dating since. That was 16 years ago. I'm not convinced anything has changed.
@@DigESource Good for you! I've never gotten on any of those sites, as I figured many were deceptive. I'm a true crime addict, practically, as I wish I could jump through the screen and try to solve the awful crimes committed. I have heard several women on those programs say they met the man on a dating site, who either raped or almost killed her or did kill her as told by family and friends!! It's a terribly untrustworthy world we are living in.
she has timing and pacing issues. Weak punchlines. "Yes Yes!" is not a punchline. I really tried to laugh. meh. She needs to slow a bit down, build suspense , pace and punchline, instead she rushes to please the crowd and it blows back. "energy and charisma" isn't funny.
Dang... Was the audience asleep? Or what? It was like they didn't understand her... She was amazing!! I hope she had as much fun as I did watching. I sure hope they didn't hurt her self-esteem!! Because she was great.
@Plasenta Man She is a comedian. You? Not so much. Why would you say something like that. Was it supposed to be funny? Well, if nothing else, she will have more material for her show. Maybe you can get her as a therapist. You have issues.
@Plasenta Man someone’s point blank honest. Brutal. She’s got a purple Ferry outfit and fit and well beautified so I’m sure she’s a great wife in that department. “Perfect” (no such thing but...)🤩 chick confirmed 🥳
@Plasenta Man Although what you say is true, it didn't need to be expressed publicly. And, unfortunately, if that's your point of judgement when you look at a woman then, yes you have issues. As for myself, my thoughts run more along the line of what can I do to please her. But that's just me.
My thoughts exactly. That is one of the flattest receptions I have ever seen on Drybar. I'm not sure what the problem was but there was no chemistry. She is an absolute Dynamo who probably goes over well most places
One of the weakest performances I've seen in drybar, probably the 6th worst out of the 80plus I've seen. Finished it again, but... Wasn't funny. And no, it's not a female thing, most of the worse ones were men. Mary Mack was the most recent vid released (both are reposts) before this and it was far far better.
Beautiful, talented, and her comedy is more sophisticated than that particular audience could appreciate. Amazing that she’s in her fifties! She looks like she’s in her late thirties. KIM KERSEY ROCKS!
Bad day in Provo?? She was really funny! It takes talent to make a fart joke a smart joke. I wish she had a better crowd. She deserved it. Great show... and as has been said over and over again, she is stunning and that dress is fabulous!
@@toots810usa6 They should have added some green jello, first! (I don't know which would have given them a greater high: green jello or the holy goat.)
I love this women, she beautiful she doesnt look like she needs to lose weight! The screen door thing is so true! Then she did the Planet Vs Zombie sound effects! I hate phone calls in the bathroom it's very disgusting! I work at Walmart, and I heard a women answer her phone, in the bathroom!
The most intelligent, charismatic and sophisticated female comedian I've seen in a while. But it would be hard to find an audience of similar calibre to actually appreciate this.
Thank you so much for this post. I so appreciate that part. No swearing, no dirty jokes, no blasphemy or disrespect. I am crazy about clean comedy. It takes true talent and intelligence. Swearing is not comedy and those who enjoy it need therapy. 💝
I can't grok most female comedians but yeah she's funny! As for swearing and filthy jokes though, there's definitely a place for that in standup. Some of the funniest comedy ever was full of filth. When he did Delirious, Eddie Murphy was the total man!
"That might be my out..." I'm laughing so hard!!! Her audience sucks though, she is too smart for those people to understand her jokes or something, I'd go see her live!
are you kidding? well, i am 28 and i wouldnt say no either :D (if I was not married) and i think her humor is so great and indeed intelligent. feel like its not adequately appreciated
You don't blame a crowd when they don't laugh. People who do that don't understand comedy. A good comedian can make any crowd laugh, if they are willing to come to a comedy show, they are already prone to laughing in the first place.
She got great hair! Average comedian but great person.. *I think one piece of constructive criticism...shes too dramatic in her lead up, and the end of each joke is too abrupt. Need to weave them together...be more nonchalant in delivery.
Average is a fair assessment. There is resentment there somewhere. She is trying to cover it by hiding it behind a vail of comedy. It makes those parts of her act difficult to enjoy. If she let's go of the resentment she can be much better then average.
Kim is passionate about her craft! She worked as hard as a ditch-digger, willing life and humor into a white-bread audience. She is talented and has great range in her portrayal of life's situations. She is wonderful!
She's not kidding about being an military brat and wife. My dad was in Vietnam, too, and he was pretty jumpy when he first got back. And the part about enlisted folks being so poor is also spot-on, you can tell she lived it. This audience didn't seem to get her, but I thought she was funny.
She's not a doctor, so she's not able to keep you in stitches. Really, there's room for all kinds of comedians. Most of them don't break us up. She’s good, better than most.
Omg. I really relate to that comment about her dad. When I was growing up the rule was : do not touch your father when he is sleeping. He might hurt you. Its not his fault, its because he was in the military.
She's funny, but she needs to cut the 20% of stuff that don't work right out of her routine. Without this, there is just too much loud and over the top 'acting' going on that stops people from really engaging. It's just too much.
I really am a psychologist, with a Robin Williams sense of humor (minus the coke). Spent years at a psychiatric hospital. The director said I was good for business. The patients just kept coming back for the laughs. Ummmm..... No...... That wasn't it. 😂
I was shocked when she said she is 57, she didn't look it. Not only is she beautiful at 57 she is absolutely hilarious, some of her impressions were good, and the Yesterday Parody which I forgot the title of the song now since I just finished, the impressions especially the Droopy Dog , the last joke at the end really could you picture if you were the guy at the other end of that, that would be embarrassing but funny.
Also, I am living proof that the mother curse is real... I have a son who is just like me... Same face and expressions, same attitude, same words from his mouth... I just wanna shake him! (He's 13.) LOVE the ATM line! ROTFLMBO!
