They show up all over the world. They been visiting us for thousands of yrs. With your technology you will never find them. Most of our scientists are ignoring on purpose the possibilities that there are extraterrestrials that are far more advanced than we are. Radio communication to them is a very primitive of communication. Many of our scientists are ignorant and primitive in their philosophy when it comes to the possibilities of intelligent life in other solar systems. I'm living in primitive times with primitive people and unfortunately that statement applies to most scientists of today. I apologize for saying this,but it is the truth.

There may be life elsewhere (Europa and Enceladus) but sentient or technological life is another matter entirely. Earth had a collision with Theia that produced the moon, started plate tectonics, tilted Earth to produce tides etc,. etc. The chance of such a sequence happening to a rocky planet in a habitable zone etc. must be low.

I'm no expert but the absence of any sort of signal having ever been detected, which is a part of, and in addition to, the laws of physics, as we currently understand them, would seem to indicate that we, for all practical purposes, are alone. At least alone with regard to intelligent life, within a 100 light-year radius, though there may be types of life that is incapable of sending signals in our direction.

@@paulshields1883 Semantics. It is said right in the video that lots of things emit radio signals. My comment applies to signals from intelligent life. But you knew that.

To me it is almost certain that there will be no continuous beacons, and that there will be an interdict against contact, because of dark forest hypothesis. However, enforcement is hard, so low power point to point signalling may be accomplished, round robin, with equipment accessible to individuals

@@paulshields1883 Fair point and I'll concede that this may be the case and could explain why we haven't heard anything from intelligent alien species. Hawking aside, and considering what an intelligent alien civilization would hear coming from us, we're not one of those species.
