Tony, I LOVE you and your TEAM!! I am absolutely addicted to your shows. I'm from the US, but ALL my ancestors come from the British Isles. If I had enough time I would find out that we're all cousins. I know this kind of work is exactly what I was meant to do. I did however end up making my career as a designer and antique consultant. I'd much rather be in the UK getting my wellies on and my hands dirty. I have one rather important question. How do you get permission to dig up such sacred ground?? You obviously have friends in very high places. Keep them coming even if they are re-runs!

The thing for me in watching these early episodes is the kinds of people you spy in the trench's with a trowel in hand, like Dr Peter Reynolds, Paul Blinkhorn, Dr Alice Roberts and so on.

2:35 "its fairly convincing. If you look on this map...." Mick Aston proceeds to unfold an Automobile Association street map of London circa 1990. Now everyone would just look at Google Maps on their phones. Not much has changed but so much has changed...

These people are consistently going down rabbit holes, leaving a swath of torn-up sod in their wake. As many years as I have watched this series, I can't recall too many incidents of actual new discoveries. It is still educational and highly entertaining! I often wonder just who is paying for all of this & what the budget is.
