@28:35 Analogy for a dedicated DataOps platform: sure, secure your network using Layer-2 ACLs on switches but you will hit a wall. A next-gen firewall adds significant capability to reduce friction in sustaining those definitions at scale. Handsaw vs Chain saw

I wonder if I should go for Cognite Data Fusion or highbyte
@AhmedAli-lm8st
@AhmedAli-lm8st 5 месяцев назад
They are not comparable products. Cognite is the clear choice for enterprise use cases, while Highbyte is more suitable for small OPC to Cloud use cases. When we tested Highbyte last year in POC, we faced many performance challenges like throughput and even basic model management. If you have a budget, I would go with Cognite, and we are now deploying Litmus Edge for one of our faclities. I am curious about Mastermind and Litmus announcement later in the video.

@@AhmedAli-lm8st They are not comparable products not for scale, but the problem they are intended to solve. In other words, HighByte moves data and makes it usable for external systems whereas Cognite stores and consumes it for analysis. In fact, there are a number of Cognite customers exploring HighByte to accelerate their deployments, improve interoperability, and make Cognite a node in their UNS. I personally do not consider Cognite to be a DataOps solutions because it requires ingesting and persisting data in its own SaaS environment before it can be modeled or put to use. The majority of this data is generally from time series historians, within heavy asset industries (e.g., oil rigs), that is pre-contextualized in some form (e.g., PI AF, point naming conventions, P&ID no). Most manufacturers start with more varieties of data in a much more raw form. Additionally, while there are some APIs for external clients, Cognite primarily models that data for itself. Most don’t use Cognite to primarily serve many external data consumers - especially ones on-prem. The majority of data ingested into Cognite generally stays there. It has impressive capabilities to store data, construct ontologies, visualize, and analyze. It’s largely usable for itself and perhaps very custom clients. For these reasons, I see Cognite as more of a digital twin and analysis solution with excellent internal modeling capabilities. This is not a bad thing or even a bad solution. On the contrary. It’s solving an entirely separate, but equally important problem. I don’t recognize your name or familiar with your PoC. I would encourage you reach out to engineer to discuss your challenges. I would love to learn more and discover opportunities for improvement. Intelligence Hub emphasizes solving the “payload” problem more than the “protocol” problem. In other words, it’s focused on turning data into information rather than moving tag data. Because it’s a data engineering platform and not an OT protocol gateway, high throughput use cases can sometimes be counterintuitive initially. There is more optionality to transform data in different ways, each with their pros and cons, than what most are accustomed to. Some options are more optimal than others from a performance standpoint. For use cases involving large volumes of data, for example, we might recommend statefully moving the data in bulk (i.e., buffered arrays) and applying compression rather than frequently writing to an ingest endpoint. There can be a lot of nuance. A number of very large enterprises (i.e., Fortune 100) rely on HighByte as their core solution for enabling industrial operability. They connect to far more than OPC. They use HighByte to make their telemetry, transactional, timeseries, and file data accessible for a broad set of enterprise use cases. If you would like references, please do not hesitate to reach out.

@@AhmedAli-lm8st I am sorry you did not have a good experience with Intelligence Hub. I am not familiar with you or your situation but there have been a few situations where we did not have alignment with a prospect's required capabilities to meet specific needs. If Cognite met your needs, I understand Intelligence Hub would not.
@JohnHarrington72

@walidmatta1 I would be happy to to talk with you about your specific needs and how we would address your needs. Cognite Data Fusion is a very different solution than HighByte Intelligence Hub. I think of Cognite as a vertical solution providing connectivity, orchestration, storage, analytics, digital twin and visualization in a cloud based platform. Intelligence Hub is a horizontal solution focused on data Orchestration, Quality, Observability and Governance through on-premises hubs orchestrated from the cloud.
