they are fed milk out of the bulk tank, witch is much much cheaper than milk replacer.

Considering how well this woman properly raises the calves they'd easily confuse her with their actual mother like most animals would.

come on, how come when puppies are taken away from their mothers everyone cries about it, but the importance of the bond between the calf and its mother somehow seems to be irrevelant?

Unfortunately because of the ever increasing demand for meat and dairy it's unlikely that industrial farms will seek such accommodations.

Compassion? To an animal that's beneath us on the food chain? That's sound perfectly reasonable *sarcasm*. And I don't honestly see a problem when the animals are properly taken care of. Their coats and bodies are in amazing condition. They look extremely healthy, and they have plenty of area to stay active and socially interact with other calves. I do not see an issue here when the animals are being properly attended too.

Yep, they are basically products, the happy music and positive narration from this women is misleading, it makes it sound gentle and caring. But these babies are taken away from their mothers with in 24 hours of being born and fed milk replacer so that humans get to drink the milk that was intended for their calf. It’s so wrong and completely against nature. Also both mother and baby will eventually be killed for meat once they can no longer produce milk.

They have been dehorned so when they're older the can't hurt an employee. After a month or two hair will be there again. Although I still don't agree with dehorning. I think it's wrong. Just like declawing a cat.

The Magic Twister i completely agree . I don’t mind eating beef or dairy products but abusing baby cows or mother cows mentally or physically is unacceptable . I think the calves should be with their moms for at least first 12 weeks and farmers can practice period separation during this time before they finally separate them after weaning period. They can use surrogate mother during this time to calm down babies and keeping the babies close to moms using a hard wired fence . But babies should definitely have access to their mothers milk during their first 12 weeks.Drying off period for cows should be longer as it’s horrific to see dairy cows live for 5-6 years whereas normal longitivtiy of cow is 15-20 years as dairy cows are continuously impregnated . Veal needs to be stopped being produced rather can get sold as adult cow. Even you slaughter it , it needs to be done as much painlessly as possible rather than battering or torturing it .

Mom could step or lay on calf after birth I have seen it happen or her milk is to think at first and calf won't digest it as could and by keeping the baby with us we can make sure it don't get sick from moms milk that y I get mixed milk and we can make sure it gets all the extra attention it needs but it is a baby just like a baby human they need alot of attention
