In this episode they site fast food as being the major contributor to rising obesity. They make no mention of the FDA allowing processed sugar in cereals and soft drinks. It was processed sugar, especially in cereals and soft drinks (as well in many factory produced baked goods, prepared meals etc.) that mostly presented children with a steady diet of processed sugar on a daily basis. Fast food chains took the brunt of this hit, but that was grossly unfair.

What really also made an impact was the fact that technological advances allowed for humans to produce far higher yields per hectar in farming. This allowed for the production per unit to decrease and hence the relative prizes of food remained low while disposible incomes all over the world has risen in the last decades. People have far more money compared to the amounts of food they can get. This allowed for people to buy more food and hence eat more than they need. Combined with food being abundant and prices low the manufactorers started having to compete to get you to buy "their" food. This accelerated the competition for making addictive easy food. Nobody can or will ever have the responsibility about what you do with your health. In many countries and due to very many reasons people are becoming obese. Maybe there should be made a law called obesity-tax. For every BMI index number you are over the healthy line you have to pay more taxes? Or you could make taxes on consumer items like fast food. Make any food that contains sugar and meat far more expensive by taxes.

shouldn't it be titled "fast food" not "junk food" ? Because junk food existed before fast food and although fast food can be called junk food, not all junk food is fast food.
