You are 100% correct. The thing that bothers me the most about the charter thing is that it was done to keep the little guy out of the sport. If you can afford the car and team to make a couple races a year, now you can't because you need a charter. I remember when some teams with big sponsors dropped the ball and didn't qualify. Some small teams actually got a chance to race. Those big sponsors got mad because they lost their TV time so now we have charters to guarantee sponsors a spot. That is supposed to be the whole purpose of qualifying. If you choke, someone else gets your spot. It's not supposed to be a guaranteed spot. That 's how racing is supposed to be. If you go to a dirt race and you make a bad call or you aren't on your game and don't qualify, you are going home and the team that out performed you gets to race.

No, it was created to give owners something besides what little they might get at auction. Now when a team (like SHR for instance) closes they have something of value to sell. and come away with more than what they get at a pennies on the dollar fire sale.

Bob Jenkins, the owner of Front Row Motorsports, is involved in several business ventures beyond his NASCAR team ownership. These include: 1. **Truckstop Ventures**: Jenkins is heavily involved in the truck stop industry. He owns and operates various truck stops and travel centers, primarily under the brand "Love's Travel Stops," which is a well-known chain offering fuel, food, and other services to truckers and travelers across the United States. 2. **Food Services**: Some of the truck stops and travel centers operated by Jenkins include food service operations, either as part of the travel centers or as stand-alone restaurants. These ventures complement his NASCAR involvement, as Love's Travel Stops has been a prominent sponsor for Front Row Motorsports, showcasing the synergy between his business interests and racing team.

Excellent presentation of the facts, sir! The total purse of each race is a drop in the bucket compared to the ad money. Tracks, especially local circle tracks, wouldn't survive without sponsors, and those rolling billboards that run around them must be filled with sponsor ads, as well. Otherwise, the old words of wisdom become reality really fast: "Do you know how to end up with a million dollars from racing? Start with two million!"

The end game with the three charter maximum is to group the charters together. Three charters sell for a set amount of Dollars, following the F1 model of two teams. Jenkins borrowed the money. Guy like that has access to banks and investment firms. Likely it comes on the hands of Ford shifting more money to them with the demise of Stewart-Hass.

Honda has said they won't build a V8. NASCAR is talking hybrids, and few car manufacturers even build V8s today. Formula One cars use tiny V6s and with the electric motors produce a combined 1,000 horsepower. IndyCar uses a 2.2 liter V6 that produces around 600 horsepower. IndyCar is talking hybrids as well. I'm not happy where this will end up. IndyCars sound OK. F1 cars do not. Sound is part of the experience. NASCAR with it's new exhaust sounds good again. Thank God for the NHRA and nitromethane! You can't hybridize 12,000 horsepower race cars!

As the old saying goes, the only way to make a small fortune in racing is to start with a large one. The same thing applies to pretty much anything that is a hobby for the vast majority of the people that do it. Aviation, horses, motorcycles, boats, etc. are all money pits just like racing. If you get good enough at any of them you can get a large part of your expenses covered by advertising for others, but you're still not going to make money. The best most can ever hope for is to break even in a good year, but the years you don't break even will make up for that in the long run.

They built race gear, parts and apparel. 11 million dollar a season budget running 3 semis. A season was only 5 month, and they are a title sponsor for the series. They bring in dealers from whatever the series was at that weekend. Wine em, feed em, put them up in sky boxes for the race. In return dealers place orders. BIG ONES!! Can’t make $$$$ in racing my ass. I and everyone on all 3 teams i worked at were paid well. Tell me Gordon isn’t collecting a handsome salary. Awesome experience, with INCREDIBLE PEOPLE!!!
