I am new to your channel and just went down a rabbit hole watching most of your videos! I'm at stay at home mother with a goal of a remote job in HIM or Coding. I'm honestly so lost on what to do. I could get my CPC and RHIT since coding is my main goal, but there is still that side of me that thinks ""What if I want a change, what if I want a higher role, etc" down the line...and the Bachelors for HIM keeps eating at me. Lol! I'll decide eventually but until then, I have a headache. I also tried the clinical side of healthcare, and it wasn't for me. I'm really hoping this will be my final decision for a career because my mind has literally changed lanes SO much in the last...10 years honestly. I just want that passion that everyone else seems to have and without the experience in the field, I won't know til I get there. Thanks so much for all the information and feedback with this degree. You have given us so much knowledge about the major, and it's honestly helped me personally, a lot! I hope your new job finds you well! Can't wait to see the next update.
Thank you so much for your support. I went down the same rabbit hole as well, as I initially went to school for nursing. Keep in mind that a CPC is through AAPC and does not require a degree. You will be able to advance further in your career with an RHIT. Obtaining your CPC in addition to your RHIT is a great bonus. CPCs are geared towards physician office billing. When looking at coding jobs for health systems, most HIM departments require a RHIT in my experience.
Thanks for the update currently working as HIMs and and getting my associates in HIT your videos are really helpful and inspiring and especially seeing a woman of color I feel really confident because I don’t see a lot of our people in this field 😭 congrats and keep going!
Thank you so much! And I agree, we are starting to dominate the HIM field, but for me, it's crossing over into a director role. There seems to be a roadblock there.
Just started following you. You inspire me. I've been in this industry for 10 years. And I relate with you on all levels. I stepped out on faith and had two interviews this week. Congrats to you for landing a better job🎉
Congratulations on your new position! 🎉It's always scary to start a new position, but whether or not it works out you can say that at least you tried and you will have learned from that experience. You'll do great though! 😃Looking forward to more videos.
I understand getting burnt out on coding. You CAN branch out with your RHIT career. You just have to figure out which direction you'd like to take and explore other opportunities. Don't hold yourself back!
Hi Candie, I'm happy to have come across your channel. Any information related to HIM and obtaining a position in this career is an asset. Congratulations on your new role. I am RHIT certified, have an LPN license, and BSHIM with RHIA eligibility. Currently, I am working remotely in a career unrelated to HIM because I cannot seem to get an offer for a position in this career. Any advice would be appreciated.
The job market is extremely tough right now. Having a clinical background paired with HIM is a plus. Do not get discouraged when applying for jobs. I often read posts from people who have applied for over 100 jobs, each one with a rejection. Keep pushing through! Have several different versions of your resume. Also look into resume building, or a career coach. I am considering those options myself.
Congrats 👏🏼I’ve been looking at those jobs all over indeed job. wish I could land a part time or prn but some require at least a 30 hrs per week and I already do coding for a hospital. I’m hoping to one day find a second job that will be flexible. I work from home YOU WILL LOVE IT 😊
Congrats on your new role. Outside looking in. I always thought you would like a more hands on practice management type position where yiu see what's wrong with policies and procedures and trends and incorporate news ideas and policies for revenue cycle to run better. Just my viewpoint. Congrats again. And see ya when we see ya.
