Hi Steve, my son lost his wife on September 14th. Her name was Jess as well. It’s so very hard to continue day after day and we totally understand what you are going through. My son has a little guy that just turned 5 who is also missing his Mommy. You must take care of you , there is no time limit on grief.

I planted a tree here on Denmark in honor of Jess yesterday. A Douglas fir and hope it will grow to be just as majestic as she was :) Stay strong Steve. Thinking of you every day.

Yes,my husband passed almost 5 years ago, I’m still not the same, he was my life , I’m fortunate , I have a wonderful son , but he lives out of town, sometimes , I feel things are very hard , unbearably difficult , everyday is heartbreaking, he left me well financially well, but nothing is the same for me or my son, we miss so very much, he was a great man, gone too soon from this world, this world doesn’t feel the same without him even after 5 years, ❤

You give off a Bob Ross aura, when his wife died he continued his show and he gave a quote "Gotta have a little sadness once in awhile so you know when the good times come. I started watching your videos after suffering a loss. I had just moved to a new city and started a new job and was living in a borrowed 20 ft. camper. I couldn't sleep at night because my grief wouldn't let me. I watched RU-vid videos, because anything longer than most RU-vid videos was more than I could concentrate on. I found comfort in the camping and positive attitude and just your good nature. I started doing road trips and camping, and found real peace in the woods and discovering new places. I can never thank you enough for that.

The life I live is too open to criticism that I simply don't have the guts to start RU-vid Chanel. Negativity simply haunts me, more so if it is directed at me. Thanks to people like you who chose to persevere and take it on the chin. Your channel is not only entertaining, it is also very inspirational. My hammock has arrived 2 days ago and it will be put to good use albeit in another country on another continent. You are a light to others, so my wish is never to let it dim.

I never comment on a video. Spent a long time in the military. Loss is expected, but I still have a hard time with it. I wept when you addressed your loss. There is always going to be that 10% of the bottom of the barrel. Your strength and commitment to your community will never lead you wrong. I am just an everyday joe, but you made me buy a tent for the first time since the desert. Do what you can to make you happy, the 1.1 million of will always follow.

Hi Steve. I have to be honest and say that while I'm not a follower of your channel, my parents are close friends of your in-laws, Jess's parents, and I feel moved to leave a comment. I didn't know Jessica all that well, though we do share a name and a shoe size (which I know because she took a lot of my cast-offs when we were teens--good taste, that one!). However, I was deeply affected by her passing and attended her beautiful funeral service with my parents. What I do remember about Jess was her gentle, ready smile, and just how warm she was. I will always remember how welcoming and at ease she seemed, and that's exactly how she made others feel by extension. I also remember seeing a piece of gorgeous, brilliantly colorful art that Jessica had made hanging in her parents' home (I believe it was a lion, but this was a few years ago now, so I could be wrong). When I saw it, I was moved to tears. Before then, I'd had no idea that she was such an immensely talented artist. I hope this comment isn't unwelcome or insensitive; I know you're still grieving and I cannot imagine what you must be going through. But your comment in this video that this channel is called camping with Steve and not grieving with Steve... I think the main part to remember is "WITH Steve." Your followers clearly care deeply for you, and I hope you continue to draw comfort from that. Your positive attitude shines through here, and that's incredibly admirable. I can easily picture Jess smiling at you for it. You are in my thoughts and in my prayers, friend.

Hang in there, Steve. I lost my husband in 2015, and my plan to spend our "golden years' together was dashed forever. Yet, life never turns out like you planned. Grief comes in waves. You think you're over the worst of it, and you see the cup he was drinking from when he got the news he had cancer, and your knees buckle and the tears flow again. Yet life goes on. And you're still here. One thing does not die, and that is love. I believe it's a two-way connection, so know she is sending her love in every moment you need to feel it. Camp on!

I lost my wife 3 years ago when she was only 32. I know what you're going through and I know it's hard. I know a lot of people will probably say that they're sorry for your loss and that everything will be ok but I'm not gonna say that. You're always gonna love your wife and you're always gonna miss her. There will be tough days and there will be good days. There will be little things that remind you of her and it will trigger both feelings of sadness and happiness. The hurt never completely goes away but over time it does get easier.
