This senseless brutal beating that lead to the victim's death is beyond incomprehensible and unacceptable. They deserve more than jail time. I can't imagine what the family is going through. My deepest condolences for the victim's family and friends.

It's curious that no one is clamoring for the removal of the police chief. The chief is ultimately responsible for the conduct of the officers under their command. The chief sets the tone for the department. If there are systemic abuses it is the chief's fault. She talks about a lack of supervision - and yet it is her responsibility to ensure that supervision is in place. She sounds as if she didn't even know this "Scorpion" unit existed or as if she's talking about some other agency that she doesn't command.

Hasn't this happened before with the chief? Apparently, the chief is media introverted. But, in defense of Chief Davis, it has to be difficult for her to see and know that Black police officers went that far in their duties; and, a Black man died as a result.
No defense in Atlanta the Red Dog Unit was under her supervision. She's been a police supervisor long enough to know the history and mentality of "heavy handed" or "aggressive policing" units give them any title you want city to city but if they go uncheck or lack proper supervision this will occur. They didn't just wake up one day an say "hey we're going to be very aggressive to the next guy we stop." They been doing this for awhile in days...
