The predicted path of what is expected to become Helene is very reminiscent of Hurricane Michael, Oct 2018, which formed in the Southern Caribbean and quickly ramped up to a Cat 5 in the Gulf of Mexico before hitting the Florida panhandle. It also was moving very quickly. This storm could ramp up quickly as well.
it's so close track wise! almost a twin! i am south bama, we are getting ready just in case. we are in a little double wide. Sally was my first direct hit hurricane and it was a big deal for my little family. I thought for sure my roof was gonna peel right off my trailer. the man across the street lost his roof! the man next to me had a tree puncture his bed. he was sleeping on a couch. my first hurricane, boiling baby bottles on the grill out back for 10 days was WILD. just hoping everyone stays safe.
