Where is Star Wars Battlefront 3?

Modders for Battlefront II (2017 on PC) have produced a new programme that lets you play BF II with the most popular mods, much, much more easily and find servers more easily as well as having dedicated servers running the best mods, you just download the programme, pick a server with the mod you want and play, the programme downloads and adds the mod you need with no hassle and need for 4 programmes running at the same time to let you play. That is basically BF III ( it has Ahsoka, new maps, and tons of new heroes)

Battlefront 2s graphics are so good that if it released today it would be ahead of its time

Alright I guess ill try my best to explain the situation for those who aren't in the loop or have just forgotten. Battlefront 1 and 2 where financial success but an absolute PR nightmare for EA and Dice (due to their own mismanagement and greed with the license) Ea always saw battlefront 2 in the negative light despite how much money it mad taking out microtransactions hindered their view of the game as its revenues was through sales alone so they ere extremely surprised to see just how much the celebration edition made it when it came out. Over the year people have been leaving Dice to pursue Creative freedom after years of not being allowed to pursue the projects they wanted to work on because EA said so. Those who left Dice were not only those who founded it but those who also created the Frostbite engine which is the engine that all Battlefield games and Battlefront games run off of but All Ea games were running on now. in 2020 EA and Dice were getting ready to produce their next title in the Battlefield Franchise 2042, a big return to form for the franchise and hired new faces to replace those who left . As the project was in development the realization came that the game may not be able to hit its 2021 October release window so instead of pushing back the project to give the devs at Dice more time with the game and a an engine that is nutritious for being NON NEW USER FRIENDLY EA made the decision for 2042 to be an All hands on deck project with everyone who knows how to use Frostbite. They Canceled support for all current Dice games at the time Battlefield V and Battlefront 2 and pushed other studios like Criterion off of their Need for speed project because they knew how to use frostbite onto 2042's development team since the game was trying its bets to reach that October 2021 release date Dennis Branvell (sorry to butcher last name Dennis) Saw this news and him with the rest of the Bf2 development team had to close up shop and work on 2042 but Dennis was still trying to push for a BF3 to be worked on after 2042. He and a couple of people brainstormed and made some prototypes even having some game session where a nutreal party told the pitch of the game without any of the starworts theming and it ranked to be one of the highest positive response in DIce history. Dennis and his group pitched it to EA where they quickly denied the project (this was after 2042's release) and hearing they couldn't work on a BF3 Dennis and most of the bf2 development team just got up and Left dice. some working in a new indie studios and others going to work on other star wars titles like Outlaws. So now thats where BF3 is left at. As of right now DICE can not work on the title as they are once again all hands on deck with their next Battlefield game with more Studios working on the "revival" of the franchise. Dice is not the Dice that made tat past game. Bunch of fresh new faces who are just learning the engine can resulting the game FEELING vastly different from the first 2 games and in the eyes of EA its seen as a financial risk since it comes with a lot of baggage ( caused by their own greed) . The game needs to be everything and then some for people to even start to look at it, It needs A full campaign, Space battles, ground battles, vehicles, hero's, galactic conquest, capital ships, co op, and the list goes on and on and on. The expectations are high but the game itself is the biggest layup to jsut print money. with 2 games already under their belt the perfect game is right there and they dont want to pursue it because of money.

Likely needs a reboot, to sell it to the nxt generation of kids who likely had just been born when 2015 battlefront game out, they likely need to start again.

And I'm just sitting here in a corner waiting for Squadrons 2

surprised there isnt a battle royale with all the different characters from all parts of the timeline.... star wars feels like a natural fit here.

Honestly they don’t even need to change any of the mechanics, just make a new game with new maps and playable characters. The fans would be satisfied

If they did do a Battlefront 3 I would love to see a return of Galactic Conquest. But in this version there is a player who is like the supreme commander and dictates where the fleet moves and what planets to attacks, also what kind of bonuses to buy. They can also issue orders on the battlefield to indicate the best spots to attack, defend, ambush etc. Then it's up to the players to fight it out. And they can add all sorts of planets old and new.And also they can add from the first Galactic Conquest, special era abilities, like being the Empire to blow up planets with the Death Star, or the Rebels could have saboteurs damage enemy vehicles at the beginning of the game.

One of the dev announced that it was dropped for Bf 2042 Bf3 at that time was ready for public release

i dont know if it ever will come out, but if it does, i hope they add more and cooler features into the game, especially like brand new characters that we didn't get for battlefront before

This is the second time this has happened remember that battlefront 3 was supposed to come out in 2008-2010 that was the battlefront 3 for the old school battle front 2 it would of been like battle front 2 but much better and possibly still adding dlc to the game

Bf2 was cancelled and the people who cancelled it went to battlefield. They also said if bf2 was cancelled someone would do remakes

My biggest want would be a combination of BF1 and BF2 where you can choose whatever costume you want from BF1 but have weapon and equipment classes from BF2. I'd like to run around as a grunt 501st trooper with a heavy weapons and equipment class.

Assuming DICE would be the developer for it, I seem to remember it coming out that they were planning on making a BF3. And it got canned for battlefield 2042, which went horribly. The only case i can see it happening is if not EA and not DICE make it considering both either have bigger issues at hand or dont wanna touch it. Remember how bad BF2 was for EA? And loot boxes? Im veeeery skeptical that it'll ever come out tbh.

HG brings up a good point that I never thought about before: whether or not EA holds exclusive rights to the Battlefront franchise despite no longer having exclusivity over Star Wars video games. Unfortunately only DICE pitched Battlefront 3 to EA and EA turned it down. I don't think there will ever be a Battlefront 3 unless it's from yet another Battlefront reboot series

I feel we need a Star Wars game only on the clone wars, cause the prequels era has way too much content to be squeezed in with the other eras in battlefront 2

My dream BF3 has the graphics of the EA ones, the gameplay of the classics, and has all three trilogies with a myriad of characters/units/maps from each to satisfy fans of all three trilogies (impossible). Paid DLC would include characters from shows/games like Andor, Fallen Order, Rebels, and Ahsoka.

They might wait for a movie so they can add more people like in battlefront 2 we got all the newer trilogy characters like kylo ren so they might wait for a big movie

My guess is christmas 2025 or 2026. They will have a lot of content to not copy what the previous two entries did, it will be fresh and maybe with some console refreshes/pro models, they can reboot it again to get rid of the connection to some of the drama with the modern games etc etc

A game published by EA that had/has FREE content?? That makes no sense!

They could have easily kept BF2 alive with continuous updates. An Ahsoka update. Inquisitor update. Jedi update (have like… Aayla Secura, Plo Koon etc). Sith Update. Sucks the only way to get these characters is in modding on PC

I want a better battlefront. This game is not designed for lightsaber combat and so heros vs villains is just clunky af. The graphics are great and the voice lines hit the “nerd out” feeling nail on the head. I just want a better game that isn’t a fps focused game. Better balance where blasters aren’t better than Jedi or even close.

I just want GTA Online, but Star Wars. Or better than GTA, but GTA Online is possibly my favorite game of all time.

Here's the issue. Games are very expensive to make these days. In order for them to be as profitable as needed, the game has to monetized, and Star Wars is difficult to monetize. That was the original problem with BF2. You can't put classic characters behind a pay wall without enraging the community, but it's either that or make the initial cost of the game $130 like they are attempting to do with Star Wars Outlaws.

I doubt it will ever happen, given the disasterous launch of the second one and the crazy high expectations people have for Battlefront III.

I don't see the point in having battlefront 3 anymore, cant trust anyone with star wars anymore these days. I would never play a single star wars game from anyone ever again.

As a younger guy (early 20s), with no nostalgia for the originals, I respectfully disagree with the reverence that older games hold for the original Battlefront 1 and 2. While the game launched in a terrible state due to the mass monetization of the industry, I think Dice Battlefront 2 has the best actual gameplay in the franchise’s history. By the end of the game’s lifecycle when a lot of the monetization had been done away with, it was solidly the best game in the franchise IMO

Electronic Arts will never do another Battlefront entry, you ought to read more on their politics and the general industry, they are done with licensed properties.

i had way more fun with BF 2015

I had more fun with BF1 compared to BF2. Controller lag and favoured 3rd person in design killed it for me. Gun diversity and pickups (meaning equipment is actually powerful) was more fun.

Battlefront 2 (2017) wasn't profitable, and Star Wars will never leave the grips of Disney and the shareholders they serve, so we'll never get a Battlefront 3 (20XY).

Imagine if another company takes over the series and makes a new game simply titled "Star Wars Battlefront" and then we get locked in an eternal loop of getting BF1 and BF2 but never Battlefront 3

You forgot to mention how incomplete BF2 was, so many planets like Coruscant, Utapau, Mustafar, etc missing, heroes like Ahsoka, Ventress, Jango, Windu, Padme, etc and lots of vehicles and reinforcements as well

Battlefront 3 is by far the Star Wars project I want to happen most. A large aaa live service game just fits the series so well and adds a sense of community that no other type of project can really achieve.

Would be interesting to see a Battlefront 3 from a different studio. I love what DICE did with the series, but so many of those devs have already left the company, so it probably wouldn’t be the same if DICE made the third one

The launch of both BF15 and BF17 with the micro transactions really screwed those games over. Both games did well recovering from the initial backlash but man I think it really hurt the game long term.

Honestly the battlefront games are some of my favorites. I would love to see a battlefront 3, but I guess it won't be for a while.

Dennis and the BF team at DICE all left the company once EA told them it was too much of a risk to make BF3. You also must not have checked out the modding community. We already have Ahsoka and a lot of other added heroes & characters, and have a server browser in KYBER custom servers. V2 is coming soon, which offers 24x7 servers with custom mode/map rotations and more.

Tbh I don't think we will get BF3 any time soon. EA is just done with Star Wars IP. Heck they even cancel the Mando FPS game because EA don't wanna lose 20% of profit to Lucasarts. Besides what will be BF3? Same as BF2 but the Good Edition? I think we should wait until Disney explores a new era that give us a good side army and bad side army like Old Republic so that way we will get 4 eras instead same 3 eras we already saw in BF2. Right now Disney is testing waters with High Republic era. But I don't feel High Republic has enough material for a Battlefront I feel the story is more about jedis than two armies fighting themselves. To bad EA was so greedy with BF2. DICE and Criterion did a excellent job here. EA really had a gold mine here and for their greddyness they lost it. I hope they see themselves as fools for losing big money very stupidly

I agree with a lot of what you said in this video. I do feel like it is important to acknowledge that Battlefront 3 is not in active development and that we never got the original Battlefront 3. I personally think we will never get Battlefront 3. We might get a spiritual successor under a new title, but Battlefront name has gotten really tarnished with the launches of both next gen releases and even the classic collection release. (Not saying the games didn't get better after launch, they did, but the general public still thinks those games were like their launch versions. But idk who can say. "Always in motion is the future."

It’s deeper than “people complaining about battlefront 3”. It is literally cursed and canceled many times since 2007. We have been more than patient. And it is not ok that there were more starwars games in the past and “things change”. We have not had a truly fun and truly good new starwars multiplayer game in almost decades. Something isn’t right in the gaming world. Luckily we have the Jedi academy multiplayer port on the PlayStation. I commend your positivity tho.

There needs to be a 1V 1 lightsabers only mode. And I want every single lightsaber character in Star wars ever. And every single outfit that they have ever worn. I want a Darth Vader with a slashed open mask from the Obi-Wan show.. I need Mace Windu.. How is Rey in battlefront but not Ahsoka.. how cool would it be to play as Anakin from episode 2 or obi wan from episode 1 or 2.. it would also be awesome to NOT have any characters from the acolyte in it.. Except for the one character who isn't supposed to be alive yet in that show... Yall know who Im talking about.. and the granddaddy of them all the one thing that would make me happier than anything.. I want to be able to play as Qui-Gon Jinn in his robes in his regular Jedi outfit and give us Qui-Gon in the poncho.. oh and speaking of the Obi-Wan skins can we please do the Alec Guinness version of Obi Wan.. on top of that give us all the sith lords and apprentices from every era.... But that one V1 lightsabers only lobby is crucial. I can't stand dudes bringing blasters into lightsaber fights and I hate when people don't honor the 1v1.. Please make my wishes come true... ❤

if they made Battlefront 3, they could reuse all the content from 1 and 2 to save time. then just make 1 new map and character for every tv show. add bots for the modes that lacked it. (yes bots for ewok hunt) 4 players split screen would be nice.

I think they will probably release another battlefront game along side a movie because the other 2 battlefront games were like BF 2015 with force awakens and BF2 with last Jedi so we might get a battlefront 3 with Mandalorian and Grogu or whatever the next SW movie is

They need a better single player mode. I wasn’t a huge fan of the new battlefront games. I like the older ones. They need a galactic conquest.
