Love this kind of video I think we take for granted how important these farms are . Also good to know that the government and the people of Bali work so hard to protect and restore corals , fish and reefs . Thank you for making this as well as your other videos of hobbyists, and aquariums.

Tobias While in Bali please checkout and do a video on Bali Aquarich, home of the captive bred Angelfish scene. Wen Ping Su is an absolute genius in the field of breeding fish of the pomacanthidae family,Marine angelfish. Many industry first have happened at Bali Aquarich. The late Jake Adams brought Bali Aquarich to light in his articles for reef builders. Wen ping Su‘s latest offering are pure bred Emperor Angelfish pomacanthus imperator. It took him eleven years to successfully be able to breed this species of angelfish.

I went to Bali last year and the corals that grow there are breath taking especially Nusa Penida. I saw many sps, softies, sponges, plate corals in all different corals. Some that I’ve never seen in the trade. I miss it so much that I started a small nano reef that I’m cycling can’t wait to drop some coral in.

This was good. I'd like to see an in depth version of this video. I'd definitely watch. I'm also curious about the low lighting. Do you know numbers wise what kind of par they are keeping the LPS under?.

Informative video Tobias! So the SPS mother colonies are grown out in the ocean and the LPS/soft corals are grown indoors?

Toby, when you swim under water did you ever see any aquarium pests like aiptasia or bubble algae. I am wondering how common they are in the oceans.

While I see the good intentions you have, I don’t get real insights. If you want to show what the real influence of the hobby is show numbers (exported corals per genus vs growth rates or something in that direction), but I guess we would all know the result.. And I have to say some things are a bit ridiculous, 2 times a year planting corals back and 363 times harvesting them, sounds a bit like eating 1 week per year vegan to promote animal rights.
@seafriendlyreef
@seafriendlyreef 11 месяцев назад
Nope maybe you have to watch the video again. It is right, that they bring motheranimals from the farm to the reefs „only“ two times a year. But also the farms itself are creating an environment for many species permanently.
@Mr.CharlesChalice
@Mr.CharlesChalice 11 месяцев назад
@@seafriendlyreef and those “environments” are processed later to harvest corals again, right? My point is just that I think we don’t need to greenwash our hobby. It’s like driving a car (even electric ones), we all accept that it’s not good for the environment no matter how you turn it but we still do it and I think it’s the same with reefing. It’s not nice to take fish and corals from tropical waters and we would be better off if we don’t do it. But we (or I) still do it, because for the love of the hobby. What we should rather do is to take a conscious decision on which coral and what fish are we buying, instead of trying to make it look like it has a positive impact on the environment.

Hello, I’m watching your channel, everything is very cool. I’m a sailor from Ukraine, you know we’re at war, but there are still a few sailors who hold on and maintain their aquarium, although it’s very difficult. Maybe it’s possible to help with some old equipment or even salt, we We will be very grateful!!!!!
