My mom lived in Japan when she was a little girl, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen her sleep on the floor more times than I’ve seen her sleep in a bed. It’s definitely more comfortable once your body sorts itself out. Plus it keeps you more mobile as you get older!
The different positions, while Cleopatra enlightened us about the benefits of sleeping on the floor 🤣🤣 one of my favorites was when she just appeared in between a plant🤣🤣 Love you guys! 🤍
I feel a little out of place because I never have seen or heard a whole family wanting to sleep on the floor, but I guess it’s just another family dynamic. Thanks for the lovely video, and the beautiful singing cleo🤍
Here in South Korea, some families also prefer to sleep on the floor using floor mats. We have also opted out of a spring or foam mattress... one's body gets used to it. Our one friend would feel uncomfortable sleeping on soft beds when they had the opportunity 😅
I’m thinking of all the space I could save if I didn’t have 4 beds!! But in Canada if you don’t have beds for your children, they take your kids away. 😅
Ive been sleeping on a bed my whole life & dont have any of those problems you said and i am still flexible & can do my backbends.. where did you hear about this ? I am curious lol pray tell.
Cleopatra❤❤❤ you are very wise at such a youthful age. I am 55 and I have so much pain after being in bed for the night. I've been talking about this and trying to figure out what happens at night that I wake up in such pain....well now I know...thank you for this information. I just love you and your family. ❤❤❤
I started sleeping on Tatami Mat with Futon top when I moved to Japan 7yrs ago, I could never go back to sleeping on a traditional mattress/bed. When I visit family I've tried to sleep in beds and end up getting on the floor half way through the night.
Hi guy's nice to see you all💗i sleep in a bed but cleopatra has made me think about a futon, love the minimalistic look,I'm going to change my whole bedroom now, thankyou for the idea💗🤍💗🤍
I used to sleep on the floor for three years and I got so used to it and loved it. My mattress was starting to spring out because I had it since I was two and at 15 it was painful (and it was a hand me down as it was). I dragged it outside and started to sleep on the floor and my mom was so embarrassed, that when I was 19 and engaged, she bought me a new bed as an early wedding present. I really love having beds on the floor or very low to the floor but my husband likes beds very high up. It is tough on me haha. He likes rolling out of bed. I feel I wake up best getting up off the floor. I appreciate that you guys sleep on the floor and are normalizing it. I like the idea of futons that roll like they do in Japan and Korea and such. I jumped when those hands popped out in the vid with the "nothing's going to grab you..." haha. I want to commend you for having your kids sharing bedrooms. A lot of people think each kid needs one bedroom to themselves and they don't. My kids share a room and it has been great for them. My great-grandmother had 8 children and a small home. Her oldest kids slept in the dining room on the floor while her little ones shared a bedroom. My mom and her three sisters all shared a bed growing up and her brothers shared a bed. I don't know what happened in the culture to change that to make it seem like your children all deserve their own space. I had my own bedroom since I was the only girl and had an age gap, but it was lonely! Great video!
Do you use a floor mattress of sleeping pad? I agree that sleeping on a harder surface is comfortable, but not everyone can sleep that way. It depends on your back issues and health. Some people need a softer surface to sleep on.
Yes when I was pregnant with my son I started sleeping on the ground it was more comfortable. I still prefer to sleep on the ground and my now 3 year old son prefers it to (he does have a bed but doesn’t sleep well in it)
Sleeping flat on your back is much better with your knees propped up on a round cushion. It’ll take the pressure (and/or pull) of muscles in the lower back. Chiropractors and physical therapists all tell you to do this.
Giiiirl, I got too much booty and boob to be sleeping on the floor. If the discomfort of my pelvis being several inches in the air doesn't get me it will surely be my boobs that have fallen into my neck and sufficated me 😂.
I am also built heavy like that and tall as well but my grandmother raised me sleeping on the floor and though I own a bed, it is still very comfortable for me to lie down on the floor. I'm Taina's age and still very flexible, with no back pain or spinal issues. Some mattresses mimic the hardness of the floor but they are very expensive and lose their firmness after a few years.
In Indonesia, when there is a big event and all the family is together, we usually sleep in an open room with a carpet or mattress, because there are not enough rooms.
😊 love love love and so so so so true !!!! My family would get pissed at me for sleeping on a futon. Now I'm on a mattress I find myself waking up more 😮 great education always love learning more. Education is key. Love to the family and many blessings 😊😊😊
I think this is fabulous and u know what my 2 youngest kids sleep in the same room as my husband and i for space reasons and i get alot of negative comments about it cause there 4 and almost 5 so its nice to see we are not alone plus i love watching my little ones sleep ❤ love to u all from Scotland ❤❤
If I were younger and in good health I would try this. Having painful knees and hips I’m not sure I could get up off the floor. Looks like a good arrangement for your family though.
Not that it matters but it's no ones business where or how anyobe of you guys sleep. But thanks for sharing. The floor mat way of sleeping is great for my back, and I lost weight when I switched. It was one of the best choices I made for myself.
I sleep on the floor too 😍 I'm from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I decided to try after I had spine problems including joint hypermobility and since then I have no back pain. It's been 3 years, never going back 💃
Awww Romeo totally has my heart ! 😍🥰 He's such a wholesome and amazing boy 🥺 Even though he never had one, I wish I actually was his teddy bear to hug 😂 hahaha
So fun! I like seeing different ways people sleep. My family is from Indonesia and we have often slept on the floor with just a futon type mattress. Now that we moved to America though we have ‘normal’ beds but when I move out of my parents house I’ll probably switch to floor sleeping again to save room. Thank you for another great video!
When i had my first son we both had really nice beds but we never got good sleep in them so we started sleeping on my living room floor and I swear i got the best sleep and so did he. Makes me want to do it again.
Yay! I’ve been waiting for this video! Sleeping this way makes more room for everyone! I thought the 4 older boys would sleep on the lower floor so the parents could sleep in the workout/music room, but looks like everything fits! Beautiful singer and dancers!
In our culture floor sleeping was a common thing and beds have only been recently introduced but our older generation always opt for floor sleeping ❤ love how organised the house is ❤
This is the perfect video to introduce aliens living on mars. How people on earth live. Happy and the way it should be❤ Must be cosy winter nights and magical summer nights sleeping in the rooms🎉
I don't know as I have issues sleeping flat, I must elevate my head in order to not aggravate my acid reflux. Additionally, when I was in jail they made us sleep on a concrete slab with a small pad and I never liked it.
My family sleeps on the floor when we are in our house and honestly as a very tired mom of 3 toddlers, sleep is very crucial but I found that sleeping on the floor really is beneficial not only for the kids-like the concerns of Shakespear and King James, but to me and my husband as well cause I would complain of back problem during the day but it never became a chronic problem unlike when we stay at my parent's place and sleeps on a mattress. Sleeping on the floor is something I wish to pass on my to kids, especially we are Asians.
Comment: we used to live in South Africa and slept on soft bed mattresses. Then we moved to South Korea. Initially, we slept on a mattress, but since we moved and didn't buy a mattress... we are sleeping on the hard base of our sleeper couch with a futon/ floor mat. It was uncomfortable for a few weeks, but I like it now. Each time my Husband suggests he wants a mattress, I share with him about the extra cost and space it will be, and that we are ok with what we have 😆. I would certainly like to share these health benefits about sleeping with my Husband. 🛏🛋
Ps, our sleeper couch is so firm even with its biscuit of a cushion... it might as well be the floor! It's just not as cold 👏 And the Korean people of Wise ages here (respectfully, the Elderly) are mostly active and walking about each day. In South Africa, some of the people of Wise ages would be resting or unwell to be as active as the Koreans are! It's beautiful 😍 🤩
😅 We have a super soft mattress now... my body feels uncomfortable some nights because we all roll and sink into the middle. But I am thankful non the less! 😊
Those Boys had me in fits of laughter!! & brought back A memory of My now 19 year old grandson when he was two he was sleepwalking & peed through the open plan stairs into the back of the tv it burst into flames & his Mum had to call the fire brigade out 🤣He also peed in his sisters wardrobe & the radiator 🙈. You guys are just great x
It is common for us in Saudi Arabia to sleep on the floor, for example, if I go to visit my relatives in another city, it is normal that there is no extra bed, so we sleep on the floor, and my mother, when she was young, used to sleep on the floor as well. 🇸🇦
I would like to try sleeping on floor because I have back problems. By the way I loved the little singing part Cleopatha. Hope to hear you sing more often it sounded beautifully.
I totally get this. I had slept on a mattress my entire life but when I moved into my tiny house I couldn't fit a bed in so slept on a futon and I've never slept as well. When I moved house was back sleeping in a bed but find it too soft now so I've decided to get rid of the bed and return to my futon, plus being a small house again theres so much more room in every room without a bed for toys etc and kids to play. My two year old has never slept well in a cot or bed, she sleeps on a futon now on the floor and sleeps really well now. So I couldn't agree more with you.
I can not sleep on the floor on my back. I turn at night. Tried on my side but it is bad for yr shoulders/arms. Floor or hard mattrass is virtualy the same.
I agree! We had a soft mattress that sagged and we had constant back and hip pain. We did get a new mattress that is incredibly firm. It felt like we were sleeping on the floor and it was awkward. But after the first night our bodies felt better -we were tired though from shifting a lot. It got much better by the 4th night. It hasn’t sagged like other mattresses either!
I 💯 agree with sleeping on the floor is much comfortable than bed as long as the surrounding is clean and organized. I've read so many hate about this and tbh they make me laugh. I have a bed and i sleep in the living room floor with a futton most of the time just bcoz its much comfortable to me and its closer to the kitchen lol P.s I laughed so loud at 6:18 and almost choked coz i was eating 😂
I loved this video so much! I have been thinking about sleeping on the floor for years but never had to courage to go forward with it. I'm definitely motivated to do it now! Thank you!
My dad and mom would sleep on the floor all the time. He said it just felt better. We are just an African American family in California lol. So this isn’t odd to me at all! Sometimes if my back aches, I’ll lay in the floor also. But I have a gymnastics firm mat that I lay on.
I have slept on the floor since 2004 and last year a wooden bed frame with a futon as a mattress stops my back from pain from sleeping on my tummy all night long 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
