Simpler times. I miss those years

I rented "The Great Waldo Search" for SNES from Blockbuster back in the 90s. It was kind of fun to play for a little while, but I'm glad I didn't pay the retail price to own it. I still remember all that music.

I got The Great Waldo Search for Sega Genesis for Christmas once as a kid. Even as a kid I thought it was awful. You can do everything there is to do in this game in less than ten minutes. There is hardly any challenge. Surely they could have fit more levels in it. My guess is that it was rushed. I guess the only other thing you can do is try to get a better score. This game also is the reason I hate the song Jack and Diane by John Mellencamp, because it reminds me of the title screen music and brings back bad memories.

I think Toy Headquarters should've stuck with that. Making toys.

Chris got a lot of hate for being the "AVGN rip-off", but if you take a look at AVGN's review of this game, he also points out all the same flaws. There wasn't that much one could say about Where's Waldo anyways...

Chris totally brings up a lot of good points about this game! I had Where's Waldo books when I was young, and I spent so much time looking for not only Waldo, but all of the other characters too. Having the NES game be about finding Waldo and ONLY Waldo totally takes away any replay value the game would've had, especially considering the insultingly low amount of levels there are. If you remember which little part out of the entire pixelated nightmare this game presents is Waldo, you'll find him within literal seconds EVERY subsequent playthrough, so then what the hell's even the point? You can beat this game in, like 20 minutes on your first playthrough, and in less than 5 every other playthrough! I mean you'd be spending less time searching for Waldo than you would be watching him prance around like a fuckin' dumbass on the map screen! Imagine spending your hard earned cash buying your kid Where's Waldo on NES, only to hear "Dad I beat Where's Waldo!" by the time you took off your shoes, hung up your jacket and turned the coffee maker on! I don't understand why they would even make this game for the NES considering the SNES had released in America almost A YEAR prior! What a fucking waste of a game...

The fact this turned 15 just the other day blows my mind. still hold up to this day, what a legend!

To this day, I'm I'm still wondering why he said donkey Kong country has 100 levels...WHERE the fuck was he getting that number from? Even when you count the bosses, that game only has 40 levels

Gotta commend you for finally deciding to enable the comments on these videos after so long. I'll always prefer AVGN to you by far (even if I think his reviews nowadays aren't as great as they used to be), but I certainly give you props for finally at least being willing to listen to criticism. May be 14 years late, but you know what they say.... Better late than never.

Thinking of it this would be a cool game with the technology we have now I can even see there being a where's Waldo video games maby Mobil game where you look like in the book

Ha ha ha... THQ is one of my clients, in Augoura Hills, CA. I totally just played the NES Waldo for the 1st time the other day on a whim, and was done in like 12 minutes!

I actually had this game on sega genesis, the Super NES version. It's one of the few games where I didn't care that the normal sega controller only has 3 buttons not including the start button. I actually enjoyed it to a degree though.

Look up "Where's Wally" on Wikipedia - the book actually originated over here in the UK, and it was just changed when it made it over to the US and Canada.

thanks for this review. my dad bought me the waldo game for NES for my birthday one year when i was like 6. well i beat it in one day and basically told him that it was a piece of crap. it really hurt his feelings and i've felt guilty about it ever since. well, it was a mean thing to say, but at least i wasn't wrong!

A more important question. Why is, Waldo, on the run, it would be more fun if you were a sniper trying to take him and his band of terrorists out after you discovered their plans for world domination, just look at that third lvl in the 2nd game, it looks like it's 2 armies fighting

He's called "Where's Wally?" over here, which apparently was his original name, but was changed when launched in America... No idea why. He's also called "Where's Charlie?" in France.

Decent review, ericmansuper though covered the first game so well that, I don't think this one was that necessary, but you do put together well made videos. You did have some good lines too.
