@@felixfelix7447 I'm being evaluated for possibly being a high-functioning autistic. It essentially means that I don't naturally understand other people, and need to/have needed to rationally learn why people are the way that they are, and that oftentimes people say things to convey emotion that literally mean something completely different. (That's probably always gonna frustrate the fuck out of me.) Anyway, it's meant that in order to develop social skills, I had to learn ways of behaving that were entirely unnatural. Learn that standing up straight and speaking with a certain 'authoritative' volume ended up convincing people that what I was saying was actually valid. If you happen to be a naturally submissive person, and you want people to see you as being more of a leader type, I'd imagine you can train yourself to behave in that way. Sadly, normal people don't consider what people say on its own merit; how you say things ends up being even more important than the things you're saying. Because - by and large - people are fucking idiots.

@Corpsefoot Gaming what i have is very limited and of no real use if i want to achieve anything...... never up to standard and prone to making people dismiss me immediately. God that sounds so self pitying. But its just an observation based on my experiences. Whenever i raise my head above the parapet i always end up wishing i hadn't bothered because someone else will just cancel me out somehow. Its a vicious circle i find myself in. My art teacher told me i have no talent whatsoever and its a complete waste of time my continuing. But.. I've sold through a gallery. I played drums..but soon found out that drummers are ten a penny.. and all a better bet than me...etc. Yet i think I'm quite wise in my way.. I'm friendly to all... can't help thinking I'm pretty pointless....thanks for your interest....

I'm a Civil War re-enactor who was a background actor in the 1993 movie "Gettysburg," in which Sam Elliot portrayed Federal Brigadier General John Buford. I had had no contact with Mr. Elliot during the filming but, a couple decades later decided I would request his autograph. More than a year passed before I received back the card that Elliot had signed. It was accompanied by a gracious note apologizing for how long it had taken for him to respond, plus comments saying how making "Gettysburg" would have been impossible without the contribution of people like me.

My grandpa knew Sam Elliot's dad. My grandpa was a federal trapper and the type of man Mr Elliot describes in this video his dad used to associate with. One day when I was six years old I was watching tv in my grandmas house. Only grandma would let me get away with watching tv and only late st night before bed while grandpa was reading the funny paper. My grandpa walked in the room and yelled to my grandma in the kitchen. He said look mom...little Sammy is on tv. I did not know who little Sammy was and my grandpa explained to me he used to drive to visit with his dad about work and once little Sammy had to plow him out in the morning. My grandpa was a man who spent his whole life in the mountains. He had an altimeter on his pickup dash to determine what sort of business he would do based on the altitude. He would consume a half court of Jim beam by lunch time and had a perfect safety record his whole career. He smoked sir Walter rally and was a man of habit. He was respectful to all but only had a few friends who knew how to handle themselves in all aspects of woodmanship. It was a way of life and a code of honor to conduct oneself correctly with guns, fishing, trapping, hunting, and respecting the land. Those who could not or did not were not considered even worthy as people and labeled out of staters or in some cases pot heads. Such as toilet pots. Anyway, my grandpa kept leather beaded strapped gloves at the table for those who spoke out of line and the table but was the first guy to for example give money in top secret to someone in need and those he helped knew damn well to never tell anyone. That is the kind of guy Sam Elliot's dad fished with. Men of precision in all aspects of woodmanship down to every element hand made by themsleves. Nothing purchased at the sporting good store if only to use as a copy. My grandpa died with the body of andidty year old man the doctors said. He killed and loaded the biggest buck in the valley at age 84. He was the last of a dieing breed and only embraced his 1/8 shashone indian ansestry the last ten years of his life. Until then he never spoke of it but as things started to change he would take out pictures of his native ansestors and yearn for the traditional ways. He died peacefully and I miss him as though he did not profess God or go to church his everyday fishing and hunting and outdoors respect for all manners of weather forecasting and adaption for conditions was something to have observed. He is in heaven. I pray.

Everyone on here fascinated by Sam’s voice, what’s got me awestruck is the interviewer’s style. He actually lets Sam finish answering each question in his own time and isn’t constantly interrupting him mid sentence. Giving a genuine pause after Sam mentions his fathers death. Each question just gently rolls towards Sam and it’s wonderful. THIS is how an interview should be.

Sam Jones is a beautiful, compassionate interviewer who gives his subjects space to talk and doesn't lay his own agenda on them. Pretty rare in US media tbh. Respect.

My father died at age 48 from alcoholism. I didn’t see him for 13+ years only one video call and few months later he died. I tried reach out too him several times but he was “busy” . The thing is I grew up those 13+ years with an adoptive family who have been very supportive throughout the years. So, when he died, yes it was sad, but I wasn’t disappointed as much as people usually are when their parent dies. After all, I was a formal orphan . I stay away from alcoholics or alcoholism, drugs, and cigarettes. I just seen too much from 1st hand experience that it scares the shit out of me. That miserable life just scares me. Now, I have depression but I try deal with that through exercise which helps A LOT. Anyway, there are plenty of people on this life who are miserable as shitttt. Your parents or past does not define who you are. Life is hard in general so you might get used to working hard. RIP to my father. I hope he is at peace .

Acting can be sort of therapy for life's tragedy. (father's death when he was 18) ..learned in acting classes, in LA. Also - he has a great character "look and voice" - so he got work.

I was fortunate years ago getting to ride with Sam on a Vietnam Vets run and meet him and his lovely wife. My voice is much like his as so many have told me. When I think of real deal people, Sam is always atop the list. I'm sure his father looks on with a big smile to see all he has accomplished. God bless, Wulfy

my father was very sick, he had me when he was 39 and he was already having health problems. he died in 97 when i was 25, its still weird that hes gone, because i grew up with just us. just me and my father, there was no one else there all those years. i still feel guilty that he had to work till the day he died, and that i couldnt have ever had the chanxe to become something "which i havent" and take care of him so he could have a few years of freedom before his time came.

im an Elliott and we make great men. the thing his father said about acting is the same thing my grandfather said to me about being an artist. "there are a million artist way to hell and gone better than you so you have no chance at succeeding and you need to learn a trade like welding", he said. he wanted me to get into the construction business like him. hard core is a great way to describe my father and especially my grandfather. we have loads of men in our families typically too, I have 4 brothers and 1 sister. my father had 3 brothers and no sisters.
