I know this video was made three years ago, but I thought it was very useful and well explained. Thank you for making it!

I too would just like to say your instructional videos are just phenomenal, If I run into a prob (which does happen a lot when learning how to windsurf later in life) then I turn to your videos to put the problem right..thank you so much!

I just wanted to congratulate you on your instructional videos. I have been windsurfing on and off since the early 80s, but have learned so much from your videos. I think they're there best on RU-vid. Keep up the good work!

Excellent thanks, also from England originally. Haven't windsurfed for over 20 years. Back then we had harness lines further apart on the boom, about where our hands would be. I loved to get feet in straps when going fast, and remove both hands from boom, letting the harness do all the work. Is this even possible with the harness lines so close together? Many thanks.

Top video! Could you please make one about mast foot position? Especially for surfers with only one board who would like to use different sail sizes.. thx!

Nice one! Would you always recommend using the harness before learning to get into the footstraps?

Yes, absolutely, You could experiment the other way around but harness first is the best way to progress learn and understand in most cases

As I windsurf, I constantly have tension in my arms, I can't really rely on the harness and this cause of course a lot of fatigue. Do you have any suggestion on how to get relaxed and release the tension from arm? I think it is due to my harness lines position

Are your Lines Long Enough?

i love the sight of someone planning. But it seems everytime i load the sail I overload my back and my legs, i finish with excruciating pain and about to quit altogether. last time i loaded so hard my legs that my calves cramped, never ever happened in my life.I just dropped myself in the board and took 5 min break to bring myself back onshore.

Thanks for commenting, Cramp is always horrible when it happens, for me it’s when I’m very tired or need food but it could happen for a number of reasons. Same with the technique of planing…there are many different things that could be affecting what you mentioned. I could be hard to identify what it is exactly without seeing you windsurf. But I have some suggestions for you to try and see if it helps… 1. Make sure the harness lines are balanced, find a position that allows you to have your weight evenly distributed through your legs when blasting. Experiment with moving them forward or backwards slightly and couple cm at a time. 2. Try changing equipment. Possibly smaller. Change one thing at a time to really feel the difference the changes make. Try a smaller Fin to take some pressure off the back leg. If you struggle to still plane or go upwind put the bigger fin in again. Try a smaller board. Try a slightly smaller sail. Like I said before it’s very hard to identify the issue without seeing you sail but these are some suggestions that I hope can help. Maybe send me a video of you windsurfing or come and join us on a clinic. Good luck Phil 👍

Did you try to find the Balance point whit a 9.4 Sail? Pretty heavy dude..

I thought the centre of effort would be relevant to the shape of the luff, type of battens sail etc rather than the weight of the rig?

Your lines look too short to me. Half the reason your harness is riding up. Really bad in the surf as to can get stuck hooked up.
@GetWindsurfing
@GetWindsurfing 4 года назад
I'm using 30inch lines on the spare boom in this video. This setup works well for me in freeride and foil setup. For wave or freestyle setup I use 32 inch lines.
