Thanks Patrick. One important take away from this series is that a basic trucker's hitch provides quite a pull and is fast. Z rigs, with progress capture, don't take a ton of time but I hate to have my coworkers waiting on my setting up rigging. To that end, I try to arrive early to set ropes. My success with a throw bag seems to depend on having nobody around to watch me.

Agreed, I'm better with throwline when nobody is watching

Enjoying this series! I thought the best spot for a single pulley was on the green carabineer in your set-up.

Before you do the test, I will say the pulley should be at the green carabiner, and that would be because the rope moves twice as much trough this one as it does with the blue one. Lets see if I'm right...

I got it.

Am I missing something or isn't the answer to put it directly on the load. Like you would with a snatch block. After all, a snatch block is just a bigger, stronger pulley.

@@TreeMuggs_PatrickM OH ok. Thanks Patrick. Your videos helped me a lot when I was teaching myself to climb. Don't stop making videos, bud.

The amount of time it takes you to put a carabiner at any place in the system, you could have instead put a soft shackle and a ring. I fail to see why you would use a carabiner over a soft shackle & ring when actually working with a trucker's style hitch, unless you didn't have any with you. My 2 cents. Dave

Ring isn’t midline attachable. ring and soft shackle are two parts, biner is one.

@@neild7971 I use rings on trucker's hitches all the time. They are fast, simple and efficient.

Yes, it's because I probably wouldn't have them. I use a Trucker's for speed. If I have to run back to the truck for gear then I'll add something into my trucker's, but so much of the time it's powerful enough on its own. Cheers Dave

@@shadowscape6290 i like rings and soft shackles but surely you can see they have disadvantages in many circumstances. Yes you can tie a ring in the middle of a rope but anywhere you want the rope to run in the ring you have to put an end through or else deal with a clumsy bite of rope that often isn't even workable. i wouldn't consider that midline attachable. fair enough if it does work for you, i can't see it.
