Then comes Hannah.😊 I've been trying to pick paint colors and have been waffling but today I learned just do it! Those stairs look so much brighter and I love the green on the treads. We bought our first piece of furniture for our new house and I love it. I've never seen one like it. While watching this, I discovered one like it. When I lived in Vermont I bought an antique wardrobe I just had to have in the bedroom. No chance in the world it would go up the stairs that looked a lot like yours Hannah. Lol Thankfully a drywall delivery truck moved it by crane, the drywall too, thru the bedroom window. When we moved to AZ I had to leave it behind, broke my heart. Much ❤

Incredible job taking apart and moving that cabinet! It seems like it was both safer for you and the cabinet to move it in smaller pieces rather than take apart anything on the stairs, and it fits so perfectly where it is. The way you labelled it was so smart. It's a shame to have to cover the wood on the staircase wall but it really does make the space so much brighter and easier to see the steps, and leaving a bit of the trim unpainted makes for a nice compromise

So funny! My grandma was from Minnesota. When I was little, she gave me a cookbook of Minnesota recipes. It includes the exact same recipe for apple crisp. I even make it the same way (using my fingers to mix the topping, of course!) My favorite is to eat it with Breyers ice cream, too. Yum! Yum!

Is there any way you could open up that wall so that you could have an open staircase? You would have a rail and spindles as opposed to a closed up narrow hall. Just a thought!

Apple crisp and Breyer's vanilla bean ice cream. My mouth is watering but I gave up sugar. Old lady across the street tried to give me a delicious looking chocolate cake. I love cake but sugar is the Devil's Powder. I don't use any substitutes either. I'm back on carbs and veggies but never sugar and never processed chemical food.

Are you able to take out the back wall and open it to the next room? Maybe install one of those big German windows and open like a door?

The single greatest improvement you can make to your homestead will be to redo the stairwell. It is too narrow and twisty. Good luck!
