I always pick magic builds, but knowing how hard it is to reserve magic through a dungeon to clear it in one day is in persona, it’s making me think strength is probably better so you don’t lose a day to having to enter the dungeons more than once because you ran out of MP because literally all your moves require spending it
I can see that being a concern but I've yet to use MP restoring items. Mage on the MC and killing the weak mobs has kept my MP well above comfort levels!
Mage early game then transition into another magic class seems like a solid way to play. But that mana Regen early on is beyond busted for their game loop
I am gonna go out on a limb and assume that in later game there will be an item or skill that gives you MP back every turn (like Invigorate in persona games)
Since magic and hitting weaknesses isn’t as strong in this game as in persona, I’m going to do an all around build so that I can be flexible with my archetypes and play around the stat distributions of my teammates. Yeah it won’t be min maxed but at least I’ll be able to try different play styles.
I think it would be best to either dumb all of the stats to magic or strength depending on which you want to specialize on. You'll still get plenty of agility, luck and endurance with the 2 stat points you cant allocate when you level up. Since the game uses the press turn system and it seems like it would be very easy to swap to an archetype that can hit enemy weaknesses, I'm going to go for a magic build. Did the same in Digital Devil Saga and it worked great.
I generally prefer starting with magic for the sake of maximizing the turn economy as well. Physical can sometimes outshine magic lategame in press turn system titles, but crits are not consistent early on so I only dabble in it when I'm comfortable with my knowledge of what enemies I will face. The game literally gives you Strohl to do that job for you really early on anyway.
@@natchu96 Exactly Natchu and if you looked at his Supporter Rank Up in-game, his level three gives him a higher chance to Crit against Humans. Aka all the bosses we'll face!
You think they give a singular fuck about that? People are playing the demo. Those same people will probably buy the game. That equals money. That's all they care about
I'm glad you think so Goose! I'm not sure yet, I have all my points left unallocated. I want to see more Archetypes and which one I'll enjoy before I dump my points!
Can you respec your build later? I usually go for a speedy mixed attacker but I heard magic is more viable for the first half of the game. I don’t want to put points into str if it won’t matter until endgame
I was already dumping everything into agility. Dodging attacks usually is quite helpful but since you can just pull aggro with Knight, and have the enemies lose 2 turns (which I didn't even know until this video) it definitely was a good idea lmao
If you want to know the damage formula for physical skills: (0.9x "weapon power" + 1.3x skill power x % HP remaining (if the skill scales off that) - 0.5x armor defense (100 here for an enemy)) x (1 + 0.01 x (1.8x St - 0.5x En)) x weakness/ resistance x what I can only assume is level correction
@@Naztalgic_Memories yo I can’t take credit. a user named CTOBN datamined the game and got it on the Persona/Megaten discord. I will post the rest of the data when they reveal it!!
Magic still affects Synthesis Skills like the Mage's for example. What I showed was if Physical Elemental's were affected or not. In SMT or Persona games in the past they had dual scaling with magic.
Might be a dumb question but is there a way to like respec your attribute points. If there is I must’ve just gone over the tip when it was shown in game.
@@Naztalgic_Memories New IP. It would have taken you 1 minute to do the before and after. Anyway, not everyone knows how magic scaled in SMT and Persona games.
So is there a way to respec the points in the game? Or did you do a run on the demo where you waited until you got all of those points made a save and then reloaded to test out each one?
The synthesis skill you showed to differentiate between strength and magic was a physical light based attack so of course magic wouldn’t increase the damage😅
@@Naztalgic_Memories yes but isn’t a little disingenuous to say just because certain physical skills don’t scale off of magic like previous entries for you to say magic is a terrible stat
@@yasmineaubrey8255 When did i say Magic was terrible? I just said it doesn't scale with Physical elemental synthesis skills. It still works on the Mage's for example.
I want to make my Protag a Healer/ Mage but start with Luck will this be an issue? Should I just stick to 1? Hoping there’s a way to fix stats at the end to play with endgame archetypes
Not at all Brain! Any build is viable in Atlus games! You may have to work a little harder vs some bosses but you'll be able to beat the game with your current build! Hopefully they let us respect like SMTV Vengeance!
@@Naztalgic_Memories Okay thanks. Probably gonna pick Luck to start then and put points into Mag and Agility and hopefully they do cause i can’t imagine not wanting to try other builds later
I decided to put some extra to luck to get rare equipment to appraise later, I noticed armors and weapons handle most of the mc offense and defense stats
Where is the best place to grind in your experience? I am seeing several different suggestions around without instructions on how to get there. Life has been busy, so I got into playing the demo only two days ago.
I personally farmed the optional dungeon since it has higher level mobs! Either one will work but since you're behind on time played the optional will catch you up quicker Chisaten!
Thanks a lot for your direct reply! I generally like to figure things out myself and don't watch many suggestion videos like yours, but I will subscribe and leave some of your playlists running to give you views from a subscriber.
@@James.Hill. you couldn't have been more right. Strength is the best stat in this game besides magic. I went full luck almost at 70 luck rn and will be lucky to make it to end game. But my stats don't matter to me. Loot does
I think the stat increases are actually fixed, rather than random. I was playing the prologue, where I leveled up by beating a boss, and it gave me 1 point in Ag. But then, my computer crashed, and I had to re-fight that boss again, and it still gave me 1 point in Ag.
@@jdelosangelesI picked luck and the stats literally always just go from top to bottom evenly on each level. I’m over 20 now and it hasn’t deviated once. Every level just adds 1 to the next stat down the list in order. The party members were the ones that seemed to have start growths that seemed aimed at a specific playstyle. Also the “growths” for an archetype does not affect your gains on levels. Instead they affect the stats that are provided by that archetype when equipped. The stats it provides scale as the archetype is mastered. So they will act literally like a patch on top of your character. That changes their stats rather than persona where they ARE the stats.
For luck stat dumper(like me) when you at the point of the game when you can use toilet there's a small chance you will get perma +1 luck so do it everyday. Mine already reach 4th town and I think i got atleast 10+ free luck already
@@Antonin1738 That's because the damage output was small and two I didn't change my armour to have a controlled test. It can mitigate more in its ideal setup. If you're wondering if you can mitigate 100% damage to take 0 then that's highly unlikely.
So do party members luck stat effect drop rates or just the protagonist? I’m wondering because I’m thinking of doing a luck play through first just to be different. I know normally you would partner this with strength, but I like the idea of just cranking look up as high as possible and getting sweet drops and critical strikes constantly. but if it’s more trouble than it’s worth, I’ll probably just go magic although a lot of people have recommended endurance and agility saying they basically make you immortal?
Just the protagonist's Rick! I don't know about being immortal. You'll be very hard to kill with so much damage mitigation from Endurance and dodging hits with Agility. Mid-late enemies do tend to have undodgeable attacks so it makes agility worse later on if you just plan on tanking every hit.
I wouldn't say it's THAT bad Arvox. I did a control test vs the same enemy using the same Armour. Perhaps if I had Armour with better DEF then it would have mitigated more damage. I didn't want to change my gear to tilt the results however. In the end you can use any build and beat the game. Just keep an eye out for high DEF Armour and Gear since you'll hardly be doing since the Endurance Growth Rate has the lowest Agility. Have fun in Metaphor :)
@@Naztalgic_Memories Having low Agility is a problem when using mage archetypes ... I guess I'm not gonna spend any extra points on endurance moving forward, as I'll probably gonna get enough through the stat growth.
@@Naztalgic_Memories Are you suggesting to always put the best armor on the partymember with the highest endurance stats? Until now I've put the best armor on those that have the lowest endurance to balance things out a little.
@@arvox1417 I don't think it matters much. You get one point to allocate to whatever you want each level up. Aswell as the achetype you equip will increase and decrease some of your stats depending on the type. Endurance is probably not the best stat. It does reduce the damage you take so it's not terrible even though Agility is obviously alot better value. But it's not like you HAVE to go for endurance just because you picked ''I can take a beating'' at the start. You can build it however you want regardless.
@@arvox1417 You shouldn't worry about x archetype having a low stat. The Mages job isn't to survive attacks. It's there to do a bunch of damage. The Knight and Healer exist to keep the Mage alive. You're trying to make each job do everything when it's not meant to be that way. Hopefully this helps Arvox!
I'm debating between magic or going luck/agi. I want to know what stats archetypes like Summoner use, it could be mag or luck if it's like a Blue Mage thing where you need rare drops to get the summons.
Unless you're trying to min-max it's not going to need that level of build to do well Mism! You can always save your points when leveling up until you acquire it though!
@@Naztalgic_Memories True, I just made a second demo save to see how luck/agi feels compared to mag and it's fine so far. I wish they told us exactly what luck affects though.
Keep in mind I didn't change my equipment to keep it controlled. Perhaps an Armour with more defense would have reflected a bigger damage mitigation. Those were also all neutral hits. If it was on an Archetype that resisted the attack, it could have been better.
@@Naztalgic_Memories I see, thank you for clearing this up, tho still seems a bit weak and needs checking out too...better go with agility for now, i liked mage a lot anyways...thank you for the video, a lot of useful info
Hey, I'm new to this genre and don't understand the weapon/armor stat breakdowns. I.e.Eva? E+ a number? Searched online and in game tutorial and couldn't find anything. Maybe upload a vid that explains what the abbreviations mean?
Eva is short for Evasion, which is how likely you are to dodge an enemy's attack. This is also augmented by your Agility stat, though I'm not sure by exactly what amount.
Welcome to the genre Camo! That is a great video idea and I'll get on it right now! It stands for Evasion and it'll stack with Agility so you can dodge attacks easier! They're usually on equipment with less defense for that reason!
I’m just going to do a balanced approach for now. I’m currently 16 Strength & 16 Magic. Since we are going to switch Archetypes so often & there’s supposedly 40 to choose from lol. I don’t want to pigeonhole my MC.
@@sanancheewadhanaraks8311 Great question San! I would personally go three Strength, one Agility and one Luck every five levels. Reduce Agility once you're not missing anymore so three Strength and two Luck!
And if there is, Strohl is the go to member! His Support Rank Three allows him to Crit more against Humans. Aka bosses so Magic build seems solid Palidor!
I did a STR build in SMT3 and 5, and a magic build in SMT4. I think I will go with a magic build this time, especially since your first two party members are physical-orientated.
Fuck i put all my points into strenght thinking i could have been able to reset them. im level 20 so maybe i can still try to put the points that i'll be getting into luck or agility
