Your point about what’s easily available at the drugstore vs what’s not is a great benchmark to use. My cleansers and moisturizers have always generally been more affordable because it’s easy to get great quality at a low price, whereas my serums/actives tend to be more expensive.
I really love the point you made about using skincare products for your specific needs and also having multiplie of the same step! I've been focused on using the same products until they're empty but it's really helpful to know that I can rotate in more/different products according to my needs! I'd also love a video that maybe covers PCOS, like maybe how your skin tells you that you may have it and how to help with hormone imbalance (i. e. skincare, food, wellness, etc.)
Love this! It also plays nicely into your previous videos of building a routine for under $50! I've been researching and playing in the skincare field as an amateur for a long time now, but I would have loved to have such sound advice in the beginnings of my journey. Sometimes I feel a great many of us fall into the idea that cost equates to better. Which is not the case with a vast majority of products! For those on a budget or those just starting out having a more directed path on what would give your skin the most bang for the buck is phenomenal! Thank you so much for continuing to be the skincare sisters we all need!
I really loved this video 😃, when I first started my skincare journey, I first had a cleanser and moisturizer, later on as I got older I used a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer, and now present day I use a cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturizer. OoOoo and don’t forget sunscreen! All that to say that skincare takes time, and throughout that journey you’ll see how your skin changes as you get older my skin that was dry and dehydrated when I was younger became combination and acne prone as I got older. Do what works for you, it takes time, and skincare is a journey not a race.
YESSSsss 🙌this is spot on! It's a journey of self-discovery, on the inside and out! Love to hear how you've developed your routine, and that you noticed your skin changed, because mine did too! It was super oily, and now i'm more combo and even dryyyy sometimes. Appreciate these little moments of change, and we're all on this journey together hehe - fel xx
I thought that going on a skincare diet would help me save money but now I just end up buying way too many cleansers and moisturizers lol. I love skincare it's so much fun. And I definitely agree with saving for most of the categories. The cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen I use are all under $20 each and my skin has never been better
This was extremely helpful!! So happy you guys did this. Really appreciate such videos cause it is truly hard not to overspend on skincare ... And the idea about perfume was great. I would love to see that !
I use Western sunscreens, chemical exfoliants and serums which are expensive for the ones I use, while I use K and J beauty for cleansers, essences and moisturisers which are so much cheaper. I go for cheap cleansing balms, but I do like the glow recipe papaya one, Farmacy and the Beauty of Joseon ones
It does get super overwhelming, right? 😭 Skincare is all about personalization, so it's great that we have these options to decide what will suit out skin at different price points 😅 Thanks for watching! 💕
I am always tempted to splurge on moisturizers ciase they are my favourite step. I feel like exfoliants need their own category, even though they might not be used everyday and could come in form of toner or serum but nevertheless
My nighttime cost cleansing balm; $32 Cleanser; $70 Toner; $12 Serum; $260 Moisturizer; 280 Eyes area slugging Vaseline; $22 Lip balm; $55 Hand cream; $14 I have tried to sub many other things and waste so much gazillion dollars…but come back to this routine cuz my skin said so.🤷♀️
Love your channel and this was one of my favourite videos by far! So helpful and honest. Makes me feel like I have allies in trying to navigate the complexities of budgeting for health, self care and habits of joy. So helpful to hear how others are doing just that w out feeling pressured.
Ive always hated sunscreens, until i tried Biore Watery Essence SPF 50 PA++++ (Japanese). Its seriously the best. So lightweight, no white cast, and once you put it on and work it in, its seriously like skin. You wont even know its on your face. Plus its affordable too. I love it, and its also loved by many.
It’s my favourite too. And I’m even happier since I found it for half price on eBay. I did check out the numbers to make sure it was legit, and that it’s in date- I think they’re able to sell it cheaper because they aren’t a skin care company, they don’t have to make a huge profit to pay employees and website costs, etc. So I buy 2 for $16. And that’s what I can use. While I’d like to try La Roche Posay, I just can’t afford it, and if my sunscreen cost $40/bottle (because Australia is more expensive), then I wouldn’t use it every day, and I’d probably try to make it stretch and not use enough. So Biorè is perfect because it still feels nice and isn’t greasy, doesn’t pill, etc, but also doesn’t break the bank and I can use the recommended amount every day.
I feel like drugstore is alot more expensive these days and not worth it go for K beauty its game changing I'm obsessed. Toner is essential for me ..lol kinda everything is but I love me some toners. I always bought expensive skincare and ever since I started I skincare my skin has been 10 x better then what 1 100$ serum or moisterizer can do and I can have multiple products for differnt reasons for the amount I spent on 1 thing before. Idk if I am gonna make sephora rouge this year because my new k beauty obsession 🤣
Need another get ready with fel video . . I really love your look today it's perfect for everyday and I really would love to learn how you cover up acne and scars .. thanks ❤️
First heard about the mizon snail cleanser from beauty within and have since re-purchased it multiple times- a truly wonderful cleanser. But I think they must've reformulated it bc the most recent tube I got had some sort of strong fragrance added to it which is enough for me to stop buying :(
Yes I think the expensive brands do have the best serums. I also personally don’t think the high end moisturizers gave me anything special to repurchase compared to the more affordable ones
love these videos . i trust a lot of the research beauty within does for the products they review . I WISH … they can do a video on , “ less skin care steps using multipurpose products “ . I love using , for example , tinted anything lol 2 in 1 . or tinted SPF moisturizer. so would 1 product be enough to replace 2 or more steps in a skin care routine ? i understand that sometimes ur skin needs that attention from single purpose products and why but sometimes i don’t have time . i currently have adapted to using 2 steps before work or even when i wear make up for work . and i always feel guilty because i feel like my face is missing out 🤷🏻♀️. i would love to know if there is any products that can help with that .
I love your videos and ur chit chat makes me smile always ❤I think we are so obsessed with drugstore skincare that I am just tired of seeing routines under 20 or 50 $ coz in the end sometimes what matters is a good product.. I have combination skin which tends to be dry combination in winter and oily combination for summer.. Could you do a routine for this type of skin with each step and 3 or 4 good options for each step? Would love to see this ❤
Lol using the chalkboard took me back to being a kid in elementary. They switched to dry erase when I started middle school because that was the newest thing and they had just built a new building. This was very helpful it makes me not mind to use more money on serums anymore.
Lovely Episode! I think I and definitely all over the shop on affordablity, but I agree sometimes it’s nice to spurge in some products just because I love the experience! Also, I love how you say chicken 🤣
Have you guys tried 'Cancer Council SPF 50+ Day Wear Face Matte Invisible' sunscreen?? It's wonderful. Those with dry skin can use it comfortably and those with oily skin can use it both as a moisturizer and sunscreen 2 in 1 step. I after i use my vitamin c serum i just directly apply this sunscreen. And the brand is very reliable. Though as they are mainly based and sold in Australia ,it might be hard to find. But please do give it a try. I would love to hear you guys opinion on it. And as for perfume, have you ever tried the 'Rose green tea perfume' from miniso? It has a subtle smell that is really lovely.
can u talk about how to apply perfume/fragrance in conjunction to skincare steps? pls also talk about your fav brands of fragrance ( i really like diptyque tam dao and philosykos) :)
I have to disagree about the not splurging on the cleanser. I have found that with my skin type I have to use a solid to oil cleanser. Those are not always cheap and not easy to find.
Ponds cleansing pond is amazing I buy it on eBay pack of 4 now can’t find it much anywhere …..I’ve been using it even before I learned about double cleansing
Yes, many good K Cleansers, HOWEVER, I will still post about my old faithful that I always use- Purity Made Simple cleanser by Philosophy. Takes off waterproof mascara and ALL stubborn makeup. Even this temp tattoos people get. I sometimes use it with my Clarisonic & it really cleans the pores so you know you got all the stuff off your face. It’s inexpensive & comes in different size bottles. Ulta & usually Sephora have the smaller ones up front. You need very little of this to cleanse your face. This company also worked with doctors so you know it’s good. I’m 58 & have been using this for 20 years now & it’s changed my skin for the better. Some Walmart’s also have started selling the Bubble line of skin care.
I definitely spend the most on serums because I'm oily and acne prone so I struggle with PIE and PIH. My toners also have actives but I still look towards the affordable K beauty options like SOME BY MI and COSRX. I feel like if a moisturizer is as expensive as a serum, it should be able to double up as a serum. In the end any product I choose to buy, IT BETTER BE WORTH IT 😂
I don't know if I agree with the cleanser portion of the video. The cleansing stage is my most important step. It seems like that is where my irritation starts and if I stop it at cleanser the rest of my routine goes so much better.
After the ordinary, inkey list and other target brands I think there's a huge gap for a good affordable sunscreen of any sort which should be the most important step.
It's true, there's many brands coming out with sunscreens and Versed and Hero also have some affordable options! My holy grail is the PC Youth Extending SPF, but that can still be a little steep in price, so definitely wanting to see more of the mid range prices like you said! - fel x
Can you guys please make a video on fungal acne???😭😭😭I beg 🤌😩 literally I need help like what causes/triggers fungal acne and some skin care recommendations as well! What ingredients r best n bad for fungal acne pls do one guys! Love you and enjoyed the vid today ❤️🥺
Hi I’m obviously not them but if you don‘t mind watching other channel‘s videos you could watch the video about fungal akne by hyram if you haven‘t already watched it :D
You should be going to a dermatologist for stuff like that. If you’re like me and can’t physically go to one, try doing it online if you can. I did a virtual derm consultation.
yess the eye sting is defs a thing I also get with chemical sunscreens hahha. So when I apply, i avoid putting it over the eye lids, so if I accidentally rub my eyes it doesn't start the waterworks hahah - fel x
I Think toners last a Long time, so You do get a lot of value for your buck. Toke me over 3 months to use 200ml toner. It is like blush you can also spurge on, last a long time dry blush. Creamy is another story. I got for Christmas 2018 a Chanel blush still use it 3 times a week.
omg yeaaas, agreed! I only recently started using it, and it's amazing. So smooth and glides on beautifully on the skin without being too thick :) - fel x
Nope! According to Dr. Dre (derm), she said as long as you’re not getting a reaction, You can use body lotion on face. I tend to use cerave lotion for summer moisture and cream for winter
good question! We find night creams are no different to any other moisturizers or creams, only that the texture and consistency might be a little thicker because over night, our skin and body goes through regeneration so we can use something that's a little denser compared to what we use during the day. So it's more of a marketing thing, just pick moisturizers that you enjoy and feels good on your skin, and feel free to mix it up depending on how you feel! Hope that helps :) - fel xx
I don't pay much for serum/ treatments UNLESS THEY'RE MOISTURIZING! Active treatments I use the inkey list. The only moisturizers I've found that work for my dry skin r 1. I'm from honey moisturizer 2. Tatcha dewy skin cream 3. Clinique turnaround overnight cream
I see what they tried to do but you can’t just arbitrarily draw a bell shaped curve without plotted data. A graph compares two sets of data points, and whatever pattern the data lands in will predict the curvature of the trend, if there even is curvature. You can’t just slap some names on an x and y axis without showing any data points and then draw a bell shaped curve. You don’t draw a curve first and then make your data fit the curve. This literally makes no sense. 😇
