My first time to Pattaya in 2018 I stayed up in Pratumnak at a place called the Hideaway (not to be confused with the Hideaway on Soi 15). The room was extremely cheap and comfortable but there were only a few bars around that area and I didn't like having to travel into Pattaya town every night (you only do that walk once!) 🙂 I believe they're calling it Petersburg hill now due to the influx of Russians up there but not my cup of tea. Guest friendly. I've stayed at the Travelodge on Soi 15 4 times since then. It is in a great location just off Soi Bukhao and you have the Avenue Mall the other way which is a quick walk to get you onto 2nd road. Across the road there is an alley to Soi Diana and LK Metro. You can also follow soi 15 parallel to 2nd road if you want a quieter walk towards walking street. The hotel itself is nice, the beds are super comfy foam mattresses and pillows. Probably the comfiest beds I've ever slept in. It has a pool on the roof with some great views across Pattaya although the drinks are expensive up there. The only problem I have with this place is that it has no balcony. I like to sit out in a morning or evening after a shower and you can't do that here. Guest friendly. I've stopped in the Adelphi which I think was on Soi 21 off Soi Bukhao. (The soi directly across from treetown). This was a nice hotel again with a pool on the roof although not as high as the Travelodge so the views weren't as good. It's a good location if you are a fan of treetown/or SOi MIT as they are literally on your doorstep. What I like about this location is if you don't want to wrestle with Soi Bukhao itself but plan on going to Soi Lengkee or Chaiyapoon, you can head the other direction up to 3rd road and can avoid the hustle and bustle. IF you like you're pool/snooker there is a great club on 3rd road called double kiss and another bar call Hustlers. To say you are a stone throw away from the action here you can't hear any noise at night. Guest friendly. My last stay a few weeks ago was at the Golden Sea on Soi Bukhao. Here the rooms are massive with a huge bed! (Although not as comfy as Travelodge I was impressed with the sheer size of it!) This wasn't a bad area as you are tucked back far enough so the noise doesn't affect you. There are great views from the back on the huge balcony you have of eastern Pattaya and also south towards Jomtien. It has a decent enough pool and the guy there will get you cans of Chang for 50 baht. There are some great little bars around this area you can visit before heading off to somewhere more full on. I stayed for 16 nights and paid £280 which I think is an absolute bargain. Guest friendly.

I used to manage a hotel for 20 years. However I have told my travel agent these are my requirements: King size bed, safe in room is a must, pool, if renting a condo or apartment cleaning service is a must. And lastly I travel alone always book for a party of 2 to avoid extra charges when entertaining eye candy guests.

Great topic Trevor, and of interest to me. I come twice a year at a month at a time. I try different hotels some I go back to some I don't. I prefer hotels with rooftop pools as the water will probably be a nice temperature. I loved the Areca lodge, it had everything perfect location and lovely rooms etc, but the pools were freezing as they were ground level and in the shade mostly. Just my preference. Also I enjoy a swim after I've had a hot sweaty active day. On a rooftop pool i enjoy a swim, have a cocktail watch the sun go down over Pattaya and the city comes alive. At the end of every holiday i visit some other hotels for my next holiday, check out rooms, bar, restaurant, friendliness of staff and of course the pool. Most hotels are glad to show you around. Pattaya is an amazing city and although changing it remains a massive part of my life, so much so it will be my home one day. Good luck hotel hunting. 😊👍

I just returned home this week after spending 5 months in Thailand which I spent 4 months in Pattaya. I like the night life but equally important is quiet at night and I found a couple places that fit my lifestyle. First place I stayed at was XQ hotel on Soi 1 between beach road and second road your 500 meters walk to the beach, Terminal 21 and Central Marina mail and a 5 min walk to Soi 6 the hotel is only 3 yrs old and has a gorgeous roof top pool and zero charge for being ladies back to the room, rooms are big and big bathrooms and showers. My second location I wanted to be a little closer to the centre locations and the beach wasn’t important on the list anymore but a more resort style place condo style with a kitchen but still daily maid service and found a place it’s called the Altera Hotel and Residence just off second road and your a 3 min walk to Soi 6 rooms where big and modern and honestly spend the day just chilling around the pool felt like you where in a tropical paradise tons of western, European and Thai options to eat and Central Marina mall is just a 5 min walk to big C, you got the baht buses but again dead quiet at night. If you thing is to party 24/7 probably not the ideal location of these hotels but if you like to go out at night and come home to somewhere where you can get a good nights Rest In Peace and quiet two very good options. Both had excellent breakfast geared to western style with small Thai options.

Soi Bukhoa area. I love just being able to walk 5 minutes and be in thick of things. Also love being able to run back to hotel to nap or use the bathroom, change sweaty clothes. I like a decent hotel with a pool for some daily sun and quiet. I like a decent sized room to relax during day. Balcony is great

You don't need to book in advance for Patters, lads, at least when arriving away from high season (November to Feb). Just turn up with your luggage and walk along Soi Diana, which runs between Second and Third Roads. It actually changes its name to Soi LK (not to be confused with nearby Soi LKMetro, overpowering at night) after Bua Khao. Or alternatively, walk along Bua Khao itself heading south from the intersection with Diana. BK is a very lively soi - one of the entertainment hubs in town - which runs parallel to Second Road. There are plenty of more than good hotels along these two strips for around TB500-600 per night. Some even have weekly or monthly discounts. The fancier ones have swimming pools. All are very central, clean, quietish and well-run. (The owners are not paying me to say this).

Not been to Thailand for 6 years now, but I keep looking at great clips like yours to reminisce... aah... You give some great advice on your channel. Like many have said here, for first time visitors I'd suggest a hotel e.g. a mid-priced hotel on or near Jomtien beach, or if you really want to be in the thick of the action pick one around the mid-to-south Pattaya. If you like the area and are thinking of coming back (as many do), then do some research towards the end of your holiday, on the interweb followed up by actual visits to see the places, to come up with some options, which is quite an interesting task to set yourself in the daytime. I've tried various hotels in the past, some near, some far from the action, some good, some okay, none particularly bad, but my favourite places have always been serviced apartments. Typically roomier and more homely than a hotel room, and suit me better as a base for my typical 2-3 week stay. They tend to charge for water and electricity (check the rates), usually include weekly room cleaning / linen changing but you can request more frequent services for a small fee. No in-house facilities but there are so many 7-Elevens, laundry shops, cafes and restaurants nearby that it's just not a problem. A usable kitchen, sizable TV and full size fridge are usually provided. Google "Serviced Apartments Pattaya" and you will find many on booking sites, and you can usually book direct although some will require a deposit. One thing you should not underestimate is the heat / humidity, which you've often mentioned before on your channel. Even in peak season it can sometimes get oppressive, especially for the uninitiated. If you are relatively young and fit then this won't be much of a problem, but if (like me) you are older and less fit then I'd definitely recommend taking that into account in the choice of where to stay e.g. staying in Jomtien means you get the benefit of the cool sea breeze, and as you said, there is plenty of everything you need nearby and you can always take a regular Baht bus, or pay for a Bolt taxi into Pattaya whenever you wish. In the hotter times of the year in Thailand I became an avid fan of shopping malls, e.g. Royal Garden (back in the early 2000's when it was the only one around), then my favourite became Central Shopping Mall, where I could spend a good portion of the day inside in the cool, wandering around window shopping, catching a movie, a meal at one of many restaurants, and an ice cream or coffee. The newer Terminal 21 in North Pattaya would also be worth a visit.

Hey Uncle Trevor... My Fit Brit guy, 😉 This I feel is one of your best videos. Even though it was done 6 months ago, it could easily be 6 years ago. the wealth of information is nothing less than incredible. I personally had to cancel six different hotels (free cancellation and all done with in 24 hours) before I found one in Jomtien Beach. 3 weeks, $275 , about a mile east of beach road. I love to walk and thanks for the heads up on the crappy sidewalks and streets in almost all places in Pattaya. Be safe bro. 😎🤙

Last time I stayed at the Baywalk Residence on Beach Road about 300 m from Walking Street. The hotel and the rooms are a bit run down but not too bad. They offer breakfast which is ok. Prices are reasonable. The rooms are spacious. Wifi is good. A good chair and desk to put your Laptop on. The bed is big and room cleaning is done early. A small fridge is enough for a six-pack and some food. The staff is friendly. No joiner fees. The best part for me is the location. A 7/11 is in the same building as well as ATMs. Lots of restaurants nearby. I am going back to Pattaya soon and booked the same hotel again but this time without breakfast. I want to explore surrounding places for breakfast.

great topic buzzin, glad to contribute and give an opinion or two so just back from staying in soi diana once again for about the 8th time in 10 trips to patts,i absolutely love this location,i stay up around the north end around bliss n zip with bukhao like a minute walk away. also i have stayed in AA hotel on Beach rd a few times in the past but last time was 2006 i'll be honest n say all the accomodations north end Diana do cop a bit a noise till all hours and imo theyre all overpriced about $6-8 AUD a night to be fair, they dont include breakfast so places like Harrys,Zip,Bliss n Lek apartments are worth $25-$26 a night imo remembering theres no pool and the rooms arent exactly brand new but there a good size and clean stayed @ the honey inn for 3 nites $40AUD in soi honey this trip, breakfast included, pool use across the road in an apartment building very noisy as room backed on to LK metro, nice room tho but $5-$8 overpriced imo,i could do w/o the breakfast so that would even bring that deal down to $27 a night to be fair now i know im only talking 5-8 $$ a nite here here guys but over 3-4 weeks that adds up n well it is only my opinion of course what i discovered was as you come out of soi diana an turn right into bukhao n you walk 6-12 minutes from that corner theres loads of accomodation offering 500-650bht a night n it would be somewhat quieter than diana tho your obviously not in the heart of the action but theres plenty of bars n food available n your also only a 7-8 minute walk to the fantastic Bukhao market,u cant beat that place for food on tues n fridays going in the other direction from the diana bukhao corner twd tree town i noticed on the right side sois off bukhao(which look quieter) have budget accomodations as well,id be interested if anyone could give some feedback on those and finally off 3rd road i enquired into a couple of places in soi chalerm phrakiat that were as low as $8AUD a day but u had to pay for water n electricity weekly, these places were a 10 - 12 minute walk to the cnr of diana n bakhao, they were clean and had all the amenities around them, they were not off any beaten track n i might consider staying in one of these kinda places if i was to stay 5-8 weeks

To be honest, if I'm really not 100% sure, of the hotel or the area, I just book room for a for a couple of days and if it's good then I'll ask for more nights at the same rate...most of the time I get it. But if its crap, no drama, just find another place....so you're not obligated to stay or have the hassle of cancelling....happy travels.

If you're not sure where to stay I would always go with just booking a place for 3-4 days. If you like it and want to stay longer just make another reservation. As always my recommendation is Areca Lodge on Soi Diana. 2 minutes walk to LK Metro and 5 to Treetown and set far enough back from the road to barely hear the racket and noise. Trouble is it is getting more and more popular and therefore harder to book. Couldnt get in for my trip at Christmas but booked there for June. If you want to be by the beach then LK Empress on Beach Road is a good bet, LK Metro, Treetown, Walking Street are still an easy enough walk away. But dont get a room overlooking the beach because the noise from Beach Road traffic will do yer head in.

Good subject. For a first time visitor, I highly recommend to stay at a western name hotel like a Marriott or a Hilton. The hotels with those names will be up to a standard. The local hotels can be good but it can be a crap shoot, the pictures can and will lie. I have stayed a few local hotels that are great. Page 10 on soi 10. Very nice hotel, good price and good food in the hotel. It is centrally located near Central shopping center. No joiner fee. Siam Bayshore Resort. Beautiful hotel with a large wooded area and pool. The back entrance is right at the end of Walking Street. Food is excellent with 3 restaurants on the property. Outstanding breakfast. Might still have a joiner fee but I am not sure. Courtyard by Marriott North Pattaya. This hotel is right at the beginning of Beach Road where it meets 2nd Road. This is a new hotel and my go to spot. Great hotel and staff. Food is great in the hotel. There are a few restaurants in the area and Terminal 21 is a short walk away. This is a place that is not too close and not too far from the action if you want it. The baht bus will get you there with a short walk to the hotel from the Beach Road / 2nd Road intersection. Once you have been to Pattaya a few time and have your transportation in hand, i typically rent a motor bike, for a 2 week or more holiday, I recommend finding a pool villa. My best stay in Pattaya was at a villa. At this time I had a girlfriend so we were not heavy into walking street every night but the pool villa was great to relax and be away from the crazy. 😁 View Taley Villas on Jomtien was convenient but the villas were dated and not well maintained. I do not recommend them. I rented a villa at The Village Jomtien. It is not a walking distance place. You must have a motor bike or a car. Bolt taxi may be the best if you do not ride a bike. This place is a few minutes drive from Jomtien but the home was beautiful and very well maintained. Nice little pool and full kitchen. The pool villa was a great time but that was only because i had a regular girl who did not need to party and drink every night. I got to see the real side of Pattaya and Thailand.

I just stayed at LK President for a longer period. The hotel was great for the price. The room had decent working desk, flawless AC, good internet connection. Excellent bed. The noise from outside went completely silent once I closed the balcony door. Skip the hotel breakfast, plenty of better options within 5 minutes walk. Even the coffee shop outside is better. The pool is a stamp. Worst part was crossing third road to get to all the interesting locations. Overall a good place stay.

on the safe side you could book your hotel for one or two nights for when you arrive in Pattaya and if its' not to your liking for any reason you can find many others that will be by asking the receptionist's in other hotel locations to view the rooms before you make a decision and as your not going through a booking agent you may well find you've saving a few quid in my experience especially if your here for more than a two week holiday.

north side tends to be a bit quieter, siam@siam design is great and close enough to a few activities up there and walking distance to is 6 in a reasonable about of time...if one wants to stay central, I recommend soi 10 or opposite side soi honey, soi Diana, etc...so many hotels there and close enough to a plethora of bars, restaurants, massage shops, etc...I usually stay central for this reason where I'm close enough to beach road, central festival, soi 7, 8, 10, honey etc

Disclaimer before I start, I rarely eat breakfast so it is not an issue for me when choosing a hotel. On my last trip, I stayed in central Pattaya off Soi Buakhao on Soi 19 and 21, a 5 minute walk from the Buakhao market. Both were what I would call mid-priced hotels, not super cheap but not expensive. Stayed a week at the Sleep With Me Pattaya Hotel on Soi 19 and a week and a half at the Amber Hotel on Soi 21. Both hotels were close to the action in Tree Town but on the quieter side, nice, modern rooms, very clean. Sleep With Me didn't have a pool, but again, that is not a deal breaker for me. The Adelphi is also a similar hotel beside the Amber, right across the street from the soapy massage. Many laundries on both sois and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Would book again with either of these places.

I always stayed at charming inn on beach road. The staff have mostly been nice and the 6, lk metro and WS an easy baht bus away. I now live in bang saray but still stay in this hotel 1 night a week to have a couple of short times. The hotel is simple but it's clean, fresh and above all very sound proof. I've only ever heard 1 next door neighbour rooting but that was because they appeared to be rooting on the balcony or they had their balcony door wide open. You can here people rooting in the corridor very easily. A bit like walking down from a ST upstairs on soi6.

First time I went to Thailand I was a teenager, I stayed with my family in a bungalow next to nordic park hill in Jomtien before we go to Koh Samui. when I came back in my early 20´s me and 8 of my friends stayed at Sawasdee Sunshine at Soi 11. Its wery cheap, the friendliest staff and close to everything but still very quiet! we stayed there for a week before we go to Phuket.. Then me and one of my friend go back to Pattaya because he missed his "girlfriend" (yes, he broke the 3 days rule) and we stayed at P72 in walking street... I had a room in 2nd or 3rd floor with window out to walking street with the window open and could sleep fine... im too old for walking street or even close now... I like April Suites off of 2nd rd. It’s on a quiet Soi away from the road. It’s directly on the Baht Bus route and it has Motor Taxis outside the Hotel, they are not aggressive and don’t bother you. You are in walking distance to Soi 6 and a short motorbike drive too LK Metro. The Hotel is quiet, clean affordable with a nice pool and spa and gym. I like LK Metropole in LK Metro . You are in walking distance of everything LK Metro and the Hotel is quiet. Galaxy Suites is good if you like action and don’t mind the noise. It’s right by Windmill Agogo on Soi Diamond off of Walking street. An excellent place and short walk to take your bar fines. Regarding April Suites, in recent years they have been catering to Chinese families, that’s not a big deal other than they can be very noisy in the lobby area. I used to be able to chill in the lobby. But your room and the rest of the Hotel is quiet.

just a tip for travellers on here wanting to use the air con bus from North Pattaya station to suvarnabhumi instead of a taxi the minibus trip to the airport is no longer available,it used to be 450bht all the way, usually 6-8 ppl in the van now its 450bht to pik u up from your accommodation to the bus station in a mini van,yep thats for a 10-12 min ride, quite a hike hey,or you could if your not fussed for time, A/ catch a bht bus on second rd to terminal 21 for 10bht,then cross the road an flag down a bht bus going in the direction of the bus station for 20-35bht,this takes all of of 20mins once youve boarded the baht bus in 2nd rd,plenty of bht buses going in the north direction but beware, none coming back in the south direction, they obviously use another route,or B/ catch n empty baht bus like i did in soi diana all the way to the Bus station for 100 bht, negotiated of course what was more impressive was the day i was leaving twas the start of the holiday weekend, the roads were jammed packed my driver took the back sois and dropped me off on the otherside of the road to North Pattaya BS,all i had to do was cross the road which was easy as traffic was banked up 500mtrs either side, had he of taken the normal route id a been in traffic for more than 45 mins as compared to the 12 min route he took, what a legend of a driver

I liked the Grand Hotel very much. It's right on Walking Street. I had a balcony that I sat outside on in the morning drinking my coffee, with a great view of the Pattaya sign on the hill and the bay. In the evening you can watch the night life of Walking Street rev up, and can easily pop into your room if you need anything. But it was very noisy when I wanted to sleep. Bring earplugs! I never asked if there were rooms available on the opposite side of the building facing north -those should be quieter. No pool, there had once been a rooftop pool but it was gone. No joiner fee. Nice reception.

The hotel does not have a pool, but decent sized rooms with balcony and is quiet (despite being close to all the action in Soi Bukhao like Tree Town, LK Metro, Soi Honey, Soi Boomerang etc.). Pattaya Beach & Central Festival Shopping Centre are just an 8 min. walk. A stop for Baht buses & motorbike taxis is directly in front of the hotel. I have stayed in a lot of places in Pattaya... The Base Condo is a nice place but a little inconvenient to Soi Bukhao due to the way the entrance is positioned. It spills out on 1st road right next to Diana. I used to like Harry's Place on Soi Honey, but Harry sold it and it is now King Kong Burgers and apartments. I stayed at Metro Apartments on LK - really cheap and great people, but you better not have any plans to sleep. I thought it would be okay after 2... I was wrong. The people shouting in the alley at 4am is worse than the music. The music I could deal with. My favorite place I am hesitant to share lol. I have a difficult time booking there now. More people means fewer opportunities for me to get a room!

My second trip to Thailand in 2004 was to stay in Bangkok for 3 days before the new flight to Indonesia, I had a round the world trip sorted, but i met a taxi driver who told me he was going to Pattaya with his wife and i could jump in car with him and just help pay fuel. I did, the rest is history, i never continued with the world tour lol, so many memories awful and great are because of that moment i met that taxi driver. I've been going back every year since.. Like i said, I was originally on a round the world trip, my first stop was Thailand, i never left for the other tropical countries lol. I told the taxi driver to take me to a cheap hotel, he took me to a few places but all were booked out, then he took me to a small hotel down soi 7 in Jomtien, Lek Jomtien hotel was the name. It was only 450 baht per night then (2004), air con, fridge, double bed, shower, elevator, with a few cockroaches in the room (at that time) which i made friends with, i had too, the fkrs were there all the time lol. The cockroaches vanished over the years though and the rooms got loads cleaner and much much better and were still only 450 baht per night. I really miss that time, it was a good hotel, i made some good friends with bar girls and lads from the UK At a bar called KR bar in Jomtien beach, which was on the first bar on the corner as you veer right, away from the beach toward Pattaya way. I went back 2 months ago for the first time in 20 years (I started staying in Pattaya after that) and the bar was gone and a foreign exchange place was there then, damn it, no way to contact the friends i once knew there. Anyway i always stayed there when on a budget, very, very good for the price (cockroaches no longer there lol, just nice rooms). I later rented an apartment for a year down the same soi 7 when i lived there. These days i stay in Pattaya as i like the action, i always get a hotel on 2nd road or walking street (Walking St are expensive, but i stay at W14 which is on a soi 14, just 3 seconds walk off walking street, no elevator, but room has aircon, fridge, shower, don't worry about noise in the noisy areas of Pattaya, get some E.A.R ear plugs, they are comfy and you'll hear nothing whatsoever lol, that's what I've done for decades now and you can sleep next to the Rhino snoring bar girl who decides she'll grace your honour for the night. lol... well, it's usually me snoring like a fire engine so hey ho...

I think it best a person come down and see what Hotel suits them best. Many young men may want to stay on beach road near Walking Street. Me, in my 50's, I like Arecca lodge on soi Diana between 2nd road and soi Buakhao. Fair priced, no joiner fee, two swimming pools, free breakfast, large bed, flat screen tv that will except fire stick for those who like youtube(the girls enjoy thai music video fyi😊)4 minutes walk to kiss food restaurant for very inexpensive food, 2 minute walk to The nest for western or Thai food with every sporting match UFC etc. But if you have money to spend, you will not go wrong at the Hilton on Beach Road. The hotel is connected to the Central festival mall. The mall has restaurants and a grocery store in the basement. Roof top bar with an amazing view of the ocean. I usually start off at Arreca and then end my holiday at the Hilton. Any friend you bring over to the Hilton to watch TV will definitely be impressed. Good luck 👍

Look for recent you tube video reviews for real time experience. Also hotels are less likely to cancel your booking as happened to me on my last trip in last trip booked two months at condo then had to pay double as it was now peak period. Decide your budget. Decide whether you are going to rent a scooter or not. What are you into? Do you like to sleep before the bars close. Is the hotel “guest friendly”, and is there an extra charge for a guest? Do you require an elevator? If you’re on a working vacation, how is the Wi-Fi speed.? So many more things to consider. If you’re planning on being there during off season, you may want to reserve a hotel for a short time and then you can change places if you so desire. I wouldn’t necessarily do this during high season. Most important, give your choice careful thought

SC villa on soi exite. Nice big rooms and quiet Just off soi baukaw but only a two minute walk from all the activities. Nice quiet soi. Stayed there the last 2 times after having to leave my room on soi chaiapoon because the room I had been staying at for the last 10 years had changed ownership and was being renovated.

I'm quite happy staying in my little apartment with a nice 27th floor ocean view, down at the tail end of Jomtien, arranged and paid for before arriving. Some Bolt drivers take routes that don't always make sense🤣🤣🤣 You can get some great deals on Agoda last minute deals imo

Why stay at a hotel when you have condos for the same price or less with a separate kitchen, nice bathroom and separate bedroom, similar to a suite room in a high end hotel. 😊 The Base is close to everything , 2 pools and gym , quiet rooms when you're on the upper floors for between 1000 and 1500 baht a night

Legally you can’t rent a condo for leas than 1 month. Worth looking at though as 2 weeks in a hotel can be the same price as a month in a nice condo.

I think the best area to stay in town in from around Soi 13 to Central on 2nd Rd and the various sois that are on either side of it. You are a short baht bus ride from Soi 6, a short walk to beach road and another baht bus ride to Walking Street, a short walk to Treetown, LK Metro, Soi Boomerang, and have all the fun on Soi Honey, Diana, Pothole and Buakhao right there also

Be sure when booking your room to book it for 2 people. The hotel may charge you extra if you bring someone to stay overnight after you have already checked in (joining fee as Trev mentioned). I learnt this the hard way, it didn't cost a lot, but save yourselves the cash.

One thing I never do is booking too many days before I have been there... i book usually 2 nights and then see if I want to stay there more. But I usually travel in low season, maybe that is a little risky in high season?

Make sure it is a GUEST FRIENDLY hotel because if you bring a girl back to your room they will try to charge double or not let her in at all Also always book for two because it's the same price anyways. Jomtien is way to far yes you can get there in more like 30 min nice quite but you will get bored of it real quick

Ref the baht bus route comment - i’d add the important thing is the end of the night trip, how easy is it to get a baht bus back to the hotel after a night on the beers. If you are drinking in Tree town an you are staying in beach road, the oneway baht bus isn’t your friend, for example.
