21:22 haha that's me! In my mind I totally embarrassed myself on video, seeing it now, not so bad. Thanks so much for being so kind and stopping to talk. Long time viewer, can't believe it took this long to finally run into you. ❤
I feel like Disneyland rivers and island are safe. We use the rivers for Fantasmic and Fantasmic is a money maker for Disney with dining packages. And they JUST refurbished the mark Twain. Florida didn’t use their river like we use ours.
I love watching these, I live in North Pole, Alaska so it's not like I can go to Disneyland every day, but get to enjoy it a bit watching these. Although we are already prepping for what has become our annual trip in November, a week after Tiana's Bayou Adventure is supposed to open.
37:05 Agree completely with this entire soapbox! So many seemingly insignificant things have changed - the nickelodeons and games gone from the Penny Arcade, the Court of Angels closed off for Club 33, the DLRR and River rerouted…you said it better than I ever could. Thank you.
So, no replacing Rainbow Cavern Mine Trains with Big Thunder Mountain, Indian Village with Critter Country, Skull Rock and Captain Hook's ship with New Fantasyland?
I feel like people forget that in addition to everything they hold the Walt pedestal up with, they forget that he was also a capitalist. Yeah, he wanted to create all of these things to make people happy, but he also wanted to make money.
@@anthonypecorara "We didn't go into Disneyland with the idea of making money" Walt didn't care about money and Disney will stop caring about money after I take over.
David, I agree with you. I don’t think there is any way Disney could get away with filling up Rivers of America, bulldozing the island and trashing the Mark Twain here. Disney knows we have short memories and soon stop complaining, but I think that is something guests would totally lose their 💩 over!
In Disneyland no. Florida doesn’t care nobody goes over there. My grandkids have been to wdw a dozen times in 10 years and we do not go over there. I’ve been once in 25 years and over 100 wdw vacations
The Rivers of America will not be going anywhere in California or Florida. Disney fans do not have short memories and never stop complaining. Soon fans will be running the company and Wall Street will be out.
@@ScanFan_Ed No we don't get over it. We stop going and prevent others from going. Disney will care when they lose their careers after their names are given to a reborn HUAC just like Walt did. They will care when I take over Disney and usher in the Make Disney Great Again era and take the parks backwards.
I’m glad to see at least one RU-vidr talking sense about Avatar, there was never any chance of it going in the backlot, it’s way too small to fit a major land and the monorail goes straight through the middle!
If im a betting man, im putting money on the backlot turning into zootopia. BUT we could maybe get our own monsters inc land? I've even seen someone float an idea for a muppets land out there.
He also talked about tron, and he mentioned that it wouldn't work unless it was nighttime, so what they should do is make it an indoor themepark, like a big dome, then at ACTUAL nighttime, they should open up the dome, to see the REAL sky! ❤
@@MelkhorX Disney tells lies and commits perjury. None of these announcements are happening. The panel was shut down after Josh D'Amaro got chased off stage by angry fans, resulting in the end of D23. Plus I have a Time Machine and know everything that will happen to Disney between 2020 and 2070.
David, if you look at the announcement video for Infinity Defense, Stark Flight Labs is right next door to the entrance of the E Ticket. It's all going to fit into that left section of the pathway. The Ancient Sanctum looks to be safe.
19:52 If you look at the full panoramic view of Avengers Campus that was released at D23 with all four attractions, the fourth attraction IS NOT REPLACING the Ancient Sanctum, as it is clearly visible in the art.
Avengers art seemed like Flight would also be behind HQ, halfway outdoors, with Thanos having a long intro-outro ride passage to the back of the lot with the bulk of its ride behind Flight, but with its queue loading closer to the back of Mission Breakout.
exactly, video rendering clearly shows flight lab will be pushed back directly behind where the walls are and you would turn left behind the quin jet building for the thanos ride. concept art also shows dr strange sanctum in foreground
I agree about the coco location, they can easily use the small buildings used for the pier games as part queue. The facade you showed can be pushed forward like they did for the midway ‘Mania and that would add some more queue space. The backstage can be re-arranged and a much wider building can be fit in there replacing the long parade building. There is enough room for a show building that is slightly bigger than the boat ride in the mexican pavilion in Epcot which is also larger than the mermaid ride. As for timing i know you said they can start soon but remember they said ground would not break until 2026. So coco will not be ready soon. The timing can also be because they might have and idea to add this as a Disney forward expansion for DCA

I don’t think they would ever replace alot of Walt’s attractions in Disneyland because of the legacy they hold. If DW takes some of those replicates away it actually kinda adds to the OG nostalgia vibe of DL. Setting it apart from the rest in a way. Also I think DW eco climate is just so different that the river there has been fraught with issues. And unfortunately the issues probably outweigh the attractions popularity level.
Tell that to ALL of Tomorrowland, The Mine Train, The Mickey Mouse Club Theater, The Pirate Ship in Fantasyland, The motor boat cruise or The Indian Village.
Great show today, Fresh Baked. I couldn't agree more with your opinions on the Pier. When it was Paradise, it never seemed to fit. Now that it is Pixar, we cannot get enough of it. Thanks for the show. Fresh Baked!
It's so funny that David get's a Fresh Baked shout out every 20 feet but at the top of the Pixar Pal Around brings it to a new level...literally. I thought that was funny. Minute 51:45.
One thing that's been in the back of my mind, is that when Disney decides to bring the Monster's Door coaster to DCA, that they will put it in the area where the former Hollywood and Dine is. That whole back area could be turned into a Monsters Inc. type land with the Monsters dark ride already there.
No mention of the eastern gateway parking lot. Maybe the new lands will be added once that is completed. Then they can still put Coco in the Hollywood backlot.
The Kuka arm attraction will be just to the right of the entrance to the new E-ticket. And I honestly believe that the 2nd new attraction is actually the original tech that was going to be used for the originally announced E-ticket attraction and I’m shocked that no one has mentioned that. A detachable Kuka arm ride system that simulates the flight/battle profile of different Avengers… It just seems so obvious.
@@3rdshiftcm yeah back in 2019 during the original announcement, they showed off a piece of concept art that involved guests each getting to pilot their own jetpack seat. I wonder if they had already ordered the kuka arms and decided to find a way to re use them. Also maybe I am too petty but I’m kinda disappointed that Disney showed off that amazing ride and promised it to us for years, then ended up cancelling it for something way cheaper and way less ambitious
@@dayoldbread1696 This has to be Disney’s proprietary property, the units ability to engage and disengage with the ride vehicles is unique to Disney. So this is very much a perfect type of attraction for a Stark Expo styled attraction.
@@3rdshiftcm true maybe they just recycled the idea then? Like they thought “hey they jetpack part of our canceled ride would still make a pretty good standalone ride”
I never rode Heimlich's Chew Chew Train. I took his existence for granted. And now I'll never be able to experience that ride. My life can never be complete without him. 37:00
I really wish they could put that beautiful 1937 Packard Coupe back under the awning of the station, or at least put a mechanics working bay alongside the building so it is covered and protected from the weather, the rubber in the weatherstripping will be damaged by the direct sun as well as the cloth and painted surfaces and when the weatherstripping goes the rain will find it's way into the interior of places that it can do a lot of expensive damage. It's a shame to lose an irreplaceable part of automotive history to irresponsible ownership.
David i really think Avatar will be in the Hollywood backlot. If you remove all the extra fluff in the artwork that is just there for presentation and to show cover where existing buildings are, the layout fits hollywood lot perfectly. the bottom of the art, remove the extra lush tree areas and note how it fits the northern part of hollywood and also the east side. The long building fits perfectly to where the hollywood facades are. The long canopies on right side of art fit perfectly to the street that runs North to south and the large bunker style building fits perfectly where the Hyperion or old hollywood and dine is. That whole water area and walking areas in the art fit perfectly to the backlot. The show building would fit well in the shuttle area. The rock work on the left side of art can easily be skinning for the muppet building which can stay as a hollywood street attraction with the exit routed back to the street. The amount of acreage in the backlot is actually not small, If you include some of the east backstage area wasted because of the monorail track, you add several swuare feet of property. once monorail is rerouted. All that land is slightly over 9 acres and still leaves room for a wide path leading from bridge of eastern gateway and a monorail reroute. Also does not include philharmagic and also not including any of the outdoor queue of the Hyperion or backstage roads. That is just shy of the Carsland 12 acres footprint and the 12 acres of Pandora in WDW which has 2 rides. I think they can squeeze out another acre from this property if they reconfigure some stuff.
As far as Rivers of America Im right there with you about if they Ever take it from Disneyland. Its important to have quieter areas to recover- and kids need that too! having water and a bit of nature is very restorative. I still miss being able to go up and sit on the patio by the gallery up the stairs above Pirates- it was peaceful and just lovely.
51:04 I completely agree on the placement of Coco. And if the three buildings behind were to be relocated, it could fit three of the Mermaid buildings. Leaving the parade storage, it could fit two Mermaid sized attractions so plenty of room for Coco.
Thank you for commenting on the greatness of Redwood Creek, I agree. No Avatar is my vote; Save the money, Disney. Thank you for the D23 debrief and walk thru.
We had boarding passes for Web Sligers; back when it was a virtual queue and the queue was all the way down by the Spider-Man meet & greet and it went back into the ball pen. That's why when you were questioning why people would be queuing for HM; that's why. Lol! 😆
David, both Avenger attractions are going behind the avengers building. Not going in the dr strange area. The garden and wall behind the jeep will be a very wide entrance that will leas towards the back. As you enter the building the left side of structure will lead to the Avengers ride. The fourth attraction will be in same building but to your right. The fourth ride configuration is on a “L” shape path. The idea was to have the kuka arms load and them move to a point where they push into a individual domes. Not sure if the domes are still part of it Getting back to the new rides, there is plenty of room backstage for the large show building and both rides. There will also be changes to the backstage access toad that is next to the connection of avengers campus and carlands. The pathways will be re adjusted to allow for the “L shape configuration of the fourth ride. Don’t be surprised to see that newly walled off garden becoming mostly a pathway and existing pathway adjusted for part of the Avengers addition. For comparison, there is approximately 3.5 acres of available land behind Avengers building without removing backstage buildings or roads. Rise of the resistance building and queue use approximately 2.4 acres
13:21 i think this is an issue with disney fans though, its like the kid who has a million toys and most of them they never use but then you go to throw some away and all of a sudden that toy that's been collecting dust forever is their favourite now and temper tantrums ensue. It feels entitled to say "we wont let you get rid of this but we wont actually use it either"
I appreciate that you film in landscape layout, rather than profile. I'm likely in the minority, but I watch videos on my PC. The landscape layout fits my screen far better.
Agreed. But I think what he means is those who do landscape are probably RU-vidrs and those on portrait are likely TikTok or Instagram or some other platform (or personal use like me).
We were there for my son's birthday. The 23rd through the 26th and it was the most miserable days, so hot couldn't stand it. The lines were ridiculous.I'm definitely making sure.Next time we go off season, like I always do
Well said, we need more entertainment instead of ques. Everyone else just wants rides and no quiet space. I get tickets are expensive and they’re trying to get more out their money, but quiet outdoor space is needed. As I’m approaching 40😅 quiet space and rest area are really needed even thought I try to convince my self I can push through 😆
Redwood creek trail is very under rated I agree. I hope that area stays a long time. The closest thing to that in WDW is the boneyard in AK but thats being removed soon. Hopefully rhe new area will still have an area for kids to run, climb and play
34:44 I agree with this...but they already have 😅 Pirates has changed. Snow White has changed. There are others. Semi minor changes, but they still got changed from the Walt original
@@PhoenixVic21 Well after I take over, I will usher in the Make Disney Great Again era where all those changes are undone and nothing ultimately changes when I decide the park is perfect which will be any time in the 1990s or earlier.
I think you've since figured out that that Dr. Strange isn't being demolished for Stark Flight Lab (I know you recorded this before that livestream). Have you got any new theories on why they closed that show? I agree with you - it was popular. One of the few shows I'd watch multiple times myself.
Re mobile order: I’m not a fan of the system as it is now. Why? Well one of my trip planning hacks for the last 15 years was to get Disney gift cards from the grocery stores with gas discounts before the trip (and get cheaper gas at the same time) then before the trip I’d combine the gift cards into 1 or 2 (food & merch). Well unfortunately the Disneyland app doesn’t let you save a gift card as a payment method for ongoing use so if I had tried to use mobile order, I would have had to manually enter the card info every time.
Regarding the Hyperion, you just have to ask: What executive wants to fund the enormous development and ongoing operation costs of a Broadway-level production that has ZERO direct ROI? OR - they could demolish the Hyperion (plus the enormous queue area for Hyperion), the unused Studio 12 building and combine all that land to build a major E-ticket that will directly generate $50-70m annually in Lighting Lanes; drive an enormous attendance boost for several years; plus will have enormous F+B and merch sales. Hummm....
Even more: I did some research on Broadway costs - from a legal website: "Most new major commercial Broadway musicals currently have production costs, including a reserve for unanticipated expenses, in the range of $17 million to $23 million. For a major Broadway musical, fixed weekly operating costs excluding theater rent usually range from $650,000 to $800,000 a week." Nothing Disney does is cheap, plus unions like their pay raises and perks. So a Disney executive has to greenlight $23m upfront (for something that might creatively bomb on day 1) and $30-40m in yearly operating costs for a show in the Hyperion. Or demolish the whole building (which has long been paid for so their is no financial obligations on the books to keep it), spend $300-400m for a cash-printing E-ticket/gift shop/bar restaurant. What would you choose?
I recently saw an old video of Pixar pier and the Luxor lamp on top of the boardwalk marquee MOVED! it was amazing, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in person move, would love if Disney took the time to fix that super special feature but I know they wouldn’t. It’s so tiny!
Regarding the Carthay Circle fountain: Do you think they had it on a program to turn off on a set schedule for the band that plays there? But since they cut the number of performances, someone forgot to adjust the fountain program schedule?
19:51 the concept art is really hard to discern where things are going, but it doesn't appear Dr Strange is there. You can see the D20 sculpture in the art, but what was Dr Strange stage in past art for Campus is not there. However the two new rides are further back with the E ticket being behind the store and the second ride directly next to it on the right. Will be curious to see where walls go up, if any, during construction
Who knows what the final product will be with the Avengers E ticket, but as far as the ride vehicle goes, it’s good to remember that Figment and Gaurdians at Epcot have the same ride vehicle with completely different systems. Probably being more optimistic than I should be, but here’s hoping.
Hard to believe they’d get rid of the entire Rivers of America and slap a Carsland where there’s a waterfront now. Hard to imagine any Disneyland/Magic Kingdom without that. Maybe they’re going to build it on the north half of Tom Sawyer Island next to Big Thunder Mountain RR and the backcountry there and keep the southern part as it is? Seems like the north area would be big enough.
Here's how you solve the Tron daytime/nighttime problem: a ride and a connected restaurant/giftshop ala that whole corner of Tomorrowland with Space Mountain, Pizza Planet & Star Traders and keep it all indoors. While not a whole land, it's a way to get an experience where you can control the lighting all day.
My sister and I booked a weekend trip to Magic Kingdom this fall so we can experience Tom Sawyer Island and Monsters Inc…. While we’re there might as well get some eats at Food and Wine.
34:35 - it just doesn’t make sense to put Cars in the middle of magic kingdom when all the Pixar stuff is in Hollywood studios. It’s like they’re just throwing things into what they consider open spaces. DCA already felt like an odd conglomeration of IPs; it sort of more cohesive now that they’ve got Pixar Pier, but there’s less and less of California as we go. It’ll be renamed Hollywood Studios or something similar eventually.
I love Grizzly Peak, especially Soarin’. I would be devastated if it ends up getting turned into Avatar. Hoping it does end up going in the Disneyland Forward expansion space
the concept art and video looks like Stark Flight Lab and Avengers Infinity Defense will be sharing a show building. Also I would not describe that ride as a spinner. It's the same ride tech as Forbidden Journey at Universal
I believe if you look at the concept art both Avengers attractions will share a massive "L" shaped show building. You can see the Kuka arm ride in the building on the right. That section of the building even has a Stark Industries sign on it. Infinity Defense will be in the longer building behind it. The graphic in the lower right is just a picture of the Infinity Defense ride vehicle jumping through the multiverse. You can still see the Dr. Strange backdrop in the image... :)
I just think that people that live in Florida and go to WDW and all the different theme areas don't really care about a paddle steam boat ride or anything else like that. But when it comes to The Original One and only Disney resort park because it's Walt's dream, and that's what He always wanted. I will always Love❤My Disneyland and have no desire to go to the others. So Dave I think you are right about where the Avatar Experience will be put , over in the Simba lot and a new theme area with the new rides etc.
The only issue I have with Coco in Pixar Pier is that I think it could be a multi-ride land as part of a DCA expansion. If they just want a one-off boat ride, why not more Nemo? Or one of the newer films - Luca, Soul, Elemental - any of them could work, and probably wouldn't support an entire land like Coco could.
