Obviously. Even without global warming the earth has around 1 billion years left before the sun has expanded too much to create temperatures too hot for human life. However Our extinction will have happened long before that and something else will be inhabiting the world by then

We're looking at this from our current perspective. Look at how far we have come chronologically in such a short time. The human race has its shortcomings, but it also has tremendous potential and the desire for exploration and self - preservation. Avoiding nuclear war, overpopulation, food/water shortages, eradicating diseases and education just to name a few. People actually want to go NOW! NOW! NOW! to Mars when we need to fix the problems here first! Stay closer to Earth first. Get back to the moon and establish a base there so we can learn from our mistakes. It's been like 48 years since the last Apollo mission and we haven't been back - SAD! It's exponentially more complicated to get to Mars and we're not ready yet. We need to develop better technologies here to prepare for exploration on that level. Protecting our electronics/power grid systems from solar flares and developing early warning systems to protect our planet from asteroid/comet potential impacts should be a priority. There will be plenty of time explore afterwards. Also, remember that technology is also exponentially expanding rapidly, and things like medical, propulsion and artificial gravity and shielding will be necessary for long-term survivability in space. I also believe that with future tech, even impossible by today standards such as injecting/infusing hydrogen into the core of our sun to perpetuate fusion will not be such a fantasy within our Suns' 5.5 billion years left lifespan. Relax and enjoy the ride on our little arc and let's do things right. We can handle this - Have faith!😎
I disagree with this point because just cause we have problems on earth doesn't mean we shouldn't Holt space explorations, in fact, the amount of advancements and discoveries in the field of Science that would come with exploring other planets would help us substantially with the problems at home. And it's not a question of faith when it comes to the future of humanity, it's a question of science...
I am 100% positive no one will ever accept the extinction of our species. Earth is our homeworld, but it is just a microscopic spot in the Observable Universe. There is always a method to real survival.

I love your videos. They are some of most fascinating on youtube. I'd like to think that were we able to put aside our personal feelings and work to progress to the point that if and when we do have to leave Earth, for whatever reason, it will be a no brainer and only a logistics nightmare on the relocation. Also, good luck finding the perfect substitute, there aren't many of these models out there. I guess some might say they're rare.
Many of the problems that soon may plague Earth plague other planets like Mars. Living on other planets may give some insight on how to fix those problems.
Lol we did not screw up Earth, that’s nonsense. The planet’s climate has been changing for billions of years. Sometimes it’s extreme, sometimes it’s a minute difference. The sun has a much larger effect on the earth than we do. Man-made global warming makes a pretty insignificant difference.

Imagine something happening a lot of times, within an infinite universe, already existing for billions of years. Yeah at one point or another, even if the chances are low, there could be a success. That's earth. It's a miracle we exist knowing the required conditions for a planet to allow life, but nothing fancy enough to scream things like "Huh it's ultimate proof of intelligence" and similar stuff. The odds were unlikely, but they were there. And it was enough. I mean come on, we're not even sure that we're the only one. And we might never know.
(3:37) Many RU-vid videos that have stated that terraforming Mars might be an option, few have mentioned the lack of a Martian magnetosphere in conjunction with that terraforming idea. We could terraform Mars all we want, but the atmosphere would eventually get stripped away by the solar wind. Is it possible to melt Mars' core and restart its magnetic shield? Not presently, but maybe the technology will exist in the future.
I do hope we can one day have the money to fund such projects, have the technology and engineering to build a craft with the ability to travel safely between the stars. Honestly, I don't think we ever will.

I feel lonely to live in a world where there are billions of people. Still..not comparable to the number of stars in the universe. Not because I'm young and still single. But because life has come up with many unanswered questions. it will continue to happen in the future. I want to know all the answers. who we are? Are there other "us" in other universes? Why is the line created? I might get the answer if someone on this planet is immortal. and even space and time are surrendered. Lonely.. every time I stare at the sky at night. I hope the stars will stare at me and feel the same way.

Im not doubting that humans will eventually leave our planet. What people don't seem to understand is that there will never be another planet as perfect for us as earth. There is a reason we evolved on Earth. It somewhat annoys me when people talk about the perfect planet for us. The perfect planet is Earth and there will be no other planet just like it.
Asimov has convinced me that if we become an interstellar species, eventually we would forget which world was our cradle. So we should enjoy the fact we know Earth is our cradle and enjoy it while it lasts.

If we are going to colonize other planets I.E. not any in our solar system We must achieve faster than light travel In order to become a space faring race. I would also like to piggyback off the narrator in the sense we need massive breakthroughs in propulsion systems And many other areas of research and development Because we will be spending a massive duration of time in space. So I say from here on in us Humans have our work cut out for us.

Get real people, we're environmentally suited to live on this one world and when it dies we will die with it. That's if we don't destroy ourselves through our own stupidity. It's a paradox that we are capable of such brilliance and innovation, but cannot control our inbuilt drive to disaster which is the curse of our species. Each wonderful invention we create is a two edged sword, both benefiting and harmful in equal measures. This will inevitably, if it hasn't already, put us on the road to extinction.
I feel Venus is a much more viable option for terraforming. Mars lacks the gravity and magnetosphere necessary to maintain an atmosphere. It will require a lot of resources, but water is more than abundant in the solar system.
I think we should colonize the oceans. They make up something like 70 percent of the surface. Vast floating cities could be created. Below the surface would also be an option.
I meant it as a way to provide more living area for the next few thousand years. The basic elements of light, water (desalinize), air are already there.

If scientific/engineering efforts fail to deliver on our ability to reach/colonize other worlds it won't be due to religion. It's logically possible (even probable) that human progress is ultimately finite. That limit may include the possibility that no technologies will exist that can overcome the increasingly vast cosmic distances and/or hostile environments of other worlds. It's not a pleasant thought, but a possible one. In fact, to have faith that we CAN ultimately accomplish these feats is almost...well...a religious beleif, because it's not based on emperical certainty.
Imagine if us humans would spend our resources to improve our lives, globally and chose to invest more in things like medicine, clean energy, space travel, and ending world hunger instead of using so much of it on weapons and war. Granted, many breakthroughs in war technology has improved our life like the first internet.
When the sun is in its red giant faze apparently Saturn will be in the habitable zone and the ice on Titan will melt so we maybe able to change that into another earth

@@declaringpond2276 Panspermia is a pretty unlikely theory imo. How could a microorganism survive in the vacuum of space with no nutrients for YEARS and then survive the fall and impact onto Earth. Just seems so incredibly unlikely for that to happen.

I'd like to divide my arguments in 2 sections: 1) Proving that a god exists. 2) Proving that the God of the Bible, the God of Israel is *_the_* God. 1) Quite simply, the creation demands a creator. Some people believe it all came to existance by chance or somewhere in that line. That is not only impossible, but completely unscientific. Matter/Energy coming from nothing is scientificaly impossible. (Saying energy was always there but in some kind of singular point would break other laws of science). Organic material and life coming from inorganic material is also scientificaly impossible. The same can be said about animals evolving into different kind of animals. (e.g. a dog and a bear having a common ancestor) Not only is this impossible to prove/observe/test/proclaim, it is also quite silly. Am I saying that all scientists are wrong? Not at all. Many scientists realise the necessity for a Creator. The problem is that their articles don't get published in the first place, due to the agenda of certain people who won't stand "denial" of evolution. Other scientists just go along the idea, without really questioning or testing it. The world is wonderful, everything works too perfectly. Examples: ||| Water -> Steam -> Clouds -> Rain -> Plant growth ||| Day/warmth/light -> Night/coldness (any imbalance, and everything would collapse) ||| Fibbonachi sequence (ratio of 1.618) is found in *MANY* plants, body parts, etc.* [1] ||| digestive system, reproductive system, respiratory system, etc. ||| One leaf being more complicated than a smartphone ||| And those are just some examples in top of my head. I keep discovering many more fingerprints of a Creator, that are impossible to exist out of chance or anywhere near along that notion 2) Of course, meany people will argue that any god could be the right one. What if muslims, hinduists, budists etc. are right and not the God of the Bible? There are different kinds of reasons why this is not the case. *Firstly* , there are archeological proves - and other findings - that prove the historical accuracy of various Biblical accounts. A guy named Ron Wyatt, among others, deserves a huge credit for finding many proves of historical events we find in the Bible. He was a great explorer. * [2] These would include proofs of: Noah's arc, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, water from a rock, and probably my favourite; the Red Sea crossing. *Secondly* , the Bible is a book of thousands of prophecies. We have witnessed many of these being fulfilled long ago, some more recently, and some that are yet to be carried out. Other "holy" books offer no such extraordinary and percise "predictions". *Thirdly* -> This might be harder to understand for secular people such as you, but we constantly see the lives of people being changed, transformed, turned around because they come to faith. It is something unbelivable that is hard to explain for sure. It is simply out of this world (even more as the video underwich we're commenting). One of Saturn's or Jupiter's moons (I forget the name and no it's not Titan) is the same as earth but is much colder and only 1/14 the size. It does have water though.
