Something I've been wondering about regarding Korone's catchphrase: I read somewhere that during her Twitter debut, Korone was replying to everybody who mentioned her. Apparently, she said something like "I wish I had 100 fingers so I can reply to everybody" and people started offering up their fingers. Is this related to this video and the origin of "Yubi Yubi"?

At a later point she tells someone she was collabing with what it meant. She said that she tells the viewers to give her their fingers at the start of the stream and she will give them back when the stream ends. That probably wasn't the case when she started. The video I mentioned is called something like " korone is worse than the demon", if you were wandering

I always figured "yubi yubi" came from something along the lines of "I'm a dog, so I'll probably bite your fingers" and it evolved from there. But lo and behold, it's from her debut stream where her fellow vtubers are left befuddled why a newly-introduced dog from a bakery wants to cut off viewers' fingers like a yakuza boss.

It's kind of sad to see where Korone comes from and recognize some of the things she still seems to be struggling with today even though she's managed to conceal it better. It's a little sad to me that her response to "That's too scary!" wasn't to laugh, but to immediately respond with "Oh, will I get banned for that?" and something about her asking if she's going to be scolded after the stream hurt my heart. She seems to be more comfortable with herself now, but she's also recently mentioned how she doesn't feel like she has any friends even though she's surrounded by people who love her, both on and offline. It's a difficult mindset to be in but I totally understand where she's coming from and I hope she's still growing out of it.

Thanks for sharing this. I only started watching her stream this year, and this is the first time I learned about the origin of the Yubi Yubi. 😂 Also, just some minor corrections regarding the Splatoon 2's modes, starting at 3:37. - "Hoko", the one that Fubuki doesn't really like, is the Rainmaker. The name came from Shachihoko, a japanese folklore creature that looks like a scary fish, which also the reason why Rainmaker weapon looks like a fish. - "Yagura" is the Tower Control. Yagura has many different meaning, but one of them is watchtower. - "Eria" (Area) is the Splat Zones. - And finally, "Nawabari" is the Turf War. Nawabari means territory.
