The HD-25 are of course kind of the gold standard for DJing, DJs have been using them for decades and you will see them -everywhere-. But pretty much every owner that I've talked to over the years has run into problems regarding loose connections. There's a good video on RU-vid on how to (hopefully) fix that (just type in "HD-25 fix"), but all in all, this is a big part of the reason why you shouldn't simply buy into the hype. Another issue is that the paper-thin leather cover of the ear/head cushions will degrade rather quickly. I'd suggest getting the velour ear pads.
@Paul_Davies

HD-25's all the way for me. I mix Drum & Bass and for sound quality, comfort, design and weight absolutely can't fault them hence why they've been used by so many DJ's for years on end.

V moda Crossfade M 100 are excellent. Highly recommend. The sound quality and build quality for me is what’s most important. From loudness during live gigs to just sitting at home working on playlists, the sound quality is just top tier. In the past I’ve had beats dj headphones and also sennheiser dj headphones. Both of those headphones fell apart within a couple years. These are crazy sturdy and will last a while. In fairness I haven’t heard any of the other headphones in this list. Just giving my two cents on the v mode’s.

Don't you find the ear shape borderline offensive? It's like they tried about 5% to make the shape be around ear rather than on ear, but the shape like an emerald from Zelda just hurts the ears. They do sound nice. But comfort level is just awful.

I have been using the Sony MDR 7506 for over a decade for studio and dj work. They are solid gear, but if you want bass heavy, look elsewhere. These are designed to be fairly neutral headphones. Regarding the AIAIAIs, I think it is worth mentioning that with them being modular, you'll do very well customizing them and choosing the S05 speaker unit instead of the S02 that is included in this base model. The S05 has a flatter sound, sure, but much superior sound quality, which I guess would have made them rank higher in this review.
@sandromartis
@sandromartis Год назад
Agreed! The S02 is too bass heavy and not suited for mixing. The S05 is much more balanced and generally sounds much better. I assume they had the S02, otherwise the AIAIAI would not have gotten such a bad rating for sound quality. Don‘t understand why AIAIAI sells the DJ preset with the S02. Doesn‘t make sense in my opinion.
@amoran2013
@amoran2013 Год назад
I personally dont like the S05 drivers for DJing, I would consider myself an audiophile but it just somehow feels and sounds like they are not made for beatmatching and such. Even tho i prefer a flatter sound, playing two tracks on top of each other just works way better on the S02 drivers. Maybe its the V shape tuning or somthing about dynamic range. I cant really tell.

Hey there guys, I've been observing the scene for the past 15 years and my observations that the djs use Hd25 or the Pioneer top end headphones. Me personnaly I bought a Pioneer HDJ2000 in 2011 and I've been using them for the last 12 years. Only adjustments i've make for that decade of use is to change the leather pads 2 times. They still sound amazing and the build quality is up there with the price. They costed 350USd back in the day and after more than a decade of use , I think this price is well worth it. Recently a friend of mine gave me his HDJ X10 for comparaison and I stronly believe they are the best headphones on the market currently. If I were to get a new pair of headphones, I'll definitely go with the HDJX10's.

The One Audios on the budget end, I've had a pair of those for around 6 months and I am more than happy with them, although they are quite large I found this was a positive when it came to comfort, they fit over your ear nicely and don't seem to makeup your ears ache like some of the smaller headphones can.. I think my first pair of headphones were a set of Sony MDR V700's which at the time were awesome. But dropping back into mixing again with Digital turntables rather than vinyl (Which doesn't make a difference) i have literally been given a set of HD25's. I got a pair of pioneer HDJ-X5's with my set up,which are outstanding by no means but the HD's are the set aside difference. I prefer the look of the pioneer's but the HD25's literally are the bomb for sound and being able to lumber them around behind your neck without feeling like a dumb bell is around it. Big shout to my mate Kev for giving me the HD's, who owns around 7 pairs. Got to be a reason he owns that many...they are the best headphones ive had in my experience.

I'm a little surprised that you played down the HDs. They've been an industry workhorse for such a long time. I'm also surprised the HDJ X7 (my current set of cans) was omitted from this lineup. I've owned just about every pair of headphone on the market and bought the Sennheiser HD-25 as a joke, thinking that they were going to break in 1 year and to my surprise they've held off after 4 years of SOLID abuse. Their build quality can feel flimsy at first but do not underestimate the titanium-like plastic that they've used on these headphones. I've dropped them a gazzilion times, used them for long listening sesions (8+ hrs almost every day) and they still feel and sound brand new. No wonder DJs prefer them, they can definitely take a punch.

Lived with the HD-25 for a few years but the connections became glitchy and they were never that comfortable being too highly sprung so fit tight. Still good though. I have V-Moda LP2, literally I have owned them like 7-8 years or more, and they still are so lovely and works great, overall I still just love them, but now i'm wanting to buy new dj headphones and I was wanting to try those Sennheiser HD-25 Plus, but I'm not really fan of over ear style headphones, it just feels so wrong when heaphones are hovering on your ear than actually pressing against your skull all around your ear, also when it's all around ear, it seals better outside noise/music when you trying to mix.

I bought HD25's just based on the reputation... For me, they don't fit well on my head and it seems to take a lot more work and time than it should flipping them around your neck and back on your ears. They also don't fully enclose your ear so live you have to BLAST the volume

They were extremely comfortable and had good bass so I wasn't happy. Cuerrently I use AKG K92 and they produce good sound but not too much bass. I use them with Serato Pro but also Reason 11 and Cubase 12. They're just the right weight to wear for a long day and sound is more than acceptable for monitoring and producing. As I'm on a budget I can't justify £300 plus for headphones as I have discovered over several years that expensive doesn't always mean better.

I've had TMA for over 7 years now. I bought the Young Guru ones which were TMA-1. Unfortunately they were in early day's and the headband snapped after about a year. Aiaiai customer service was superb tho. I basically sent them a photo, and they asked me to cut the cords to the cans and send a pic over. They then told me to bin them and they sent me the parts of the same specs but in a TMA-2. They've been great since, I've replaced the cable twice and the pads last year, but they are still going strong. Prior to those I had HD25, overrated imo. The pads deteriated fairly quickly (something tells me you've not had the same pads for 15 years) and I struggled to find a replacement cable in time for my next gig, so they went on ebay. I have the Odio One's. Have had them for a year and a half with daily studio use. I thought I should upgrade for DJ gigs. I bought Pioneer HDJ-X10's (Pioneer's best) and I found that the Pioneers ear cups rotate the wrong direction and were uncomfortable and quite heavy and tight on my head. As far as sound, even at the highest levels, I could not tell the difference in sound quality. Mids could be a touch warmer, but barely. The weight and tightness on my head kept the cups from vibrating on the X10's. But for the price difference, the Odio's won!

I have jumped back into the market for a new set of headphones but after owning a fair share of headphones there are key attributes I am looking for. They start in different scenarios for me. A. Dj'ing with Vinyl and then B. Dj'ing with media players, sound silly but logistics come into play. In a Vinyl set I am walking around, talking to people a lot turning around and rushing to grab a different record. Now with the Vinyl resurgence people really want to know what you are playing because since it's a tangible item people know that they can possibly own it to, so they want to see the covers and conversations get kicked off where in a media realm it's just nowhere near the same type of engagement and energy. Because every record is not at your fingertips the cord becomes an attribute where it can't be long and lay on the ground and get stepped on and or you trip on it but in a media scenario it's straightforward just stand there press buttons and touch jog wheels. With that I want a detachable locking cable that is coiled that would give me up to 7' of stretch to navigate the flight cases, Over ear design 50mm drivers a bass punch to them and not a monstrosity for my Dome. I have the V-Moda's and they have big bass on them, but I hate the cord as they can get unplugged easily from the headset and yes, I agree they apply the most head tension in my array of cans and also the ear cups themselves can pop off the metal bracket. The gap from the cup to the bracket is narrow, the wire can get pinched between them and sadly I don't use them much at all - the headband veneer material has also disintegrated exposing the under material, not cool I had an older pair of Sony's / the Dj pair that were Silver but one day the left speaker went out so I diched them and I was short on $ so I reverted to using the Sony MD 7506 and just got used to them, they are by no means Bass heavy but they are just too comfortable and simple in a Great way. All my other headsets are Semi open sets not really applicable for a Loud room where you're near the Main Speakers (I Dj Bars and Smaller Venues) Since I have been Dj'ing more I don't really mind spending a bit more since they can pay for themselves nowadays looking at the Shure SRH750, Pioneer HDJX10 - I like the mini xlr locking connection. I have not made up my mind yet because I have not listened to them but after watching this, I am going to look into those Sennheiser's. Great Vid nice unbiased review of what's in hand.

How have they held up in terms of build quality? My hdj700's have only lasted 2 years ☹️

Great Vid Jamie! I have a pair of Pioneer HDJ-X5BT which are pretty good but the headband padding wears out quite fast and there’s no replacement for that. Also the cable quality it’s pretty poor. I still love my Sennheiser HD-25. Been rocking them for over 7yrs now. Gotta love modular headphones 🎧🙂

hi there...thanks for the video...which are best at sound isolation, so one doesn't need to play them very load over the PA system...

Ultimately, its a personal choice, but I would be looking at full size, over the ear designs that have a closed, not open, back. IEM's are also very good. The Shure 215's will work very well in a DJ environment. Also, don't be quick to judge the 215's on how difficult they are to put on. At first, they can be a real pain in the ass, but after you use them a few times, it becomes 2nd nature, and you'll be glad you have them.

Hello! Which of all of these , offer the best isolation? I actually play Electronic music on the drum set so that , I'd like to get DJ headphones which offer extreme isolation. Thanks!

I treated myself to a pair of Pioneer HDJ700's thinking they would be high quality coming from pioneer but they were terrible! The pads wore away within a few months (the head pad can't be replaced), and the headband is now snapping in two places. These headphones have barely lasted 2 years playing gigs once a month. Gutted.

What would be the BEST headphones for noise isolation? I have some tinnitus and I really want to protect myself from loud noise when playing! the lower I need to put the headphones volume the better.

Custom in ear monitors are your answer. They’re pricey, but they will help save your hearing in the long run.

I think they really messed up by missing those categories. Also, saying the sound quality is fine for any of them? Come on. No way that can be true. This all just felt a bit too casual for me.

Love this video. I took way too long researching headphones and was stuck between the cue1s an a pair of audio technica mx50s I saw those odio ones and couldn't believe for the price they'd be as good as the reviews stated so stayed away from them! Also loving the lights behind you! Where can I get some

Hey there! Some weeks ago had kinda the same issue. So I ordered the m50x, the one odio pro 60 and some pioneer dj hrm-6 and tried them out. The pioneers were much to bassy and muddy. The one odios had great sound and the most comfortable fit I ever had with headphones, but for djing they were too loose for me on the head. So I decided for the m50x. They are less comfortable, but they stick to my head and have a little bit clearer highs than the one odios. And the build quality is great!

Any chance you could summarise all that in a table? Lots of good info but being interspersed in a 20min video, it's tricky to go back and recap.

Been dj for 10+ y, i uave used from pioneer,denon technics, to mention a few, but currently i have the oneodio s60 & vmoda m100, i have owned more than 5 oneodio, my take, the vmodas r fantasti,durable, the Bluetooth is convinient when preparing on the go! My biggest complain is the material,the foam decays, the PVC around the head band same,nd the screws/bolt have rust, for a high end product thats disappointing, the oneodio 60,are fantastic value, 1 reason ive been buying them,is the adaptability,to use both size of the jack, 1thing i absolutely hateeee about them is the hinges,they r all over, they twist in all directions,its anoying ! & They tooo big,wish the could do a 40mm drive with technics or pioneer hinges, that would be fantastic!

Are Apple pro max headphones frowned upon? Just asking because I have them and I’m new to dj’ing. Just wondering what the big difference is between these and the apple pro max. Might be a noob question lol sorry

I don't care I using Behringer dj headphones over 6-7 months and from then to now I really enjoyed from the sound quality and this not destroyed right now so to sum up its fine headphones 🎧 I don't care but if the audio in the headphones hearing very low you need automatically change them for a brand new one - my offer for new headphones mixing is Behringer or Sony I know they have a few headphones that made especially for djs and producers and people saying that they very good for mixing but my last headphones before the Behringer was awful so i changed to Behringer dj headphones and after this was a better audio quality . I very recommend for this!!

Regarding durability, the hdj-x10s have passed a military grade test for durability. Astounding to Mr you did not mention this as I think this is unique among headphones.
