@@nicolasyl3498what they’re reading from is wrong my guy, they don’t know baseball. The question is who is going to make more money from their contract THIS YEAR and Shohei isn’t making $70mill this year. Not even close. Shohei signed a 10 year $700 mill contract with the dodgers this offseason so $70mill is the year value of his contract… BUT in order to not put the team in a salary chokehold Shohei negotiated the deal so that almost all of the money will be paid out to him AFTER THE 10 YEARS ARE UP. This season the dodgers are only paying Shohei $2 mill, and $68 mill is being deferred until 2034. Next season Shohei will be paid another $2mill, and then $68 mill will be deferred until 2035. So Lebron will be getting paid way more than Shohei will this year. Like 30 times more lol
it’s kinda obvious, he makes 80% of the purse in his fights plus percentage of PPV and ticket sales, and he fights twice a year. he’s the cash cow hell, people said his last fight against berlanga nobody would care or pay for it. but 750,000 PPV buys each at $90 plus $17 million in ticket sales, he was defo gonna pass bron
Ohtani has his contract constructed so he’s getting 2 million for 5 years and then is getting big bucks the rest. So LeBron is more. Edit: Ty for 65 likes
“Which athlete will make more money IN their contract this season” Tricky wording right there. Shohei is only getting paid $2 million this year, but he’s making $70mill total from his contract as $68 mill is being deferred until 2034.
Active boxers at the top of the sport (like Nelo) make an insane amount of money. Without PPV points too. Floyd used to get a 100 million dollar check on fight night, before his points/business move of supplying concessions. The Saudi boxing money is crazy now too.
Canelo basically runs boxing now, he sells out Arenas with lower tier fights which is insane. There are other big names that struggle in that aspect without other big names attached to them.
LeBron isn’t underpaid. Shohei is the best player in baseball in his prime while LeBron is at the very end of his career putting up good offensive numbers but a massive liability on defense now.
Glad they’re trying to educate them on other world athletes like Haaland and not just their own country athletes maybe them realizing this will make them more in tune with the rest of the world
It’s crazy how most people in America never heard of the top soccer players in the world, I’ve met people who never heard of Messi or Ronaldo but they can name all the bench players on a basketball team from 2001
@@PSYCHOSCIONsoccer is rising but the nfl and nba are way bigger than soccer in America and they’re also both rising at a faster rate than soccer is still in America. Most Americans only really care about the World Cup or the Euros, if you aren’t doing anything on that scale then you probably aren’t known in America.
Haaland makes around 20 mil, football players dont make that much (only in saudi where ronaldo and benzema are paid 200 and neymar 100). I believ 58 mil is what city signed him for
Yeah, this is all kinds of wrong. Haaland is making around 20 million off of his Manchester City contract this season (KCP and Cam Johnson are making more from salary). In fact, no one in the premier league would even crack the top-80 for salaries in the NBA Ohtani's official number is 2 million this season (eventhough most of his money will be deferred)
First one is already wrong. Shohei is only making something like 6-10m this season, because the vast majority of his wages are deferred towards the latter half of his contract.
The wording of the question made it weird. Shohei is making $70 mill for playing this season, but is only getting paid $2 mill this year out of that 70. So he technically still does “make more money in his contract” this season, it’s just not paid out. Like he’s still earning the full $70mill by playing this season, he could retire tomorrow and he’d still get that $68mill in 2034.
he’ll make that 200Ms in one night when he fights benavidez or crawford, he’s not dumb, that’s why he’s waiting for the money to increase, page from the floyd book
He’s earning $70 mill in his contract this year, but he’s only getting paid $2 mill of it and the other $68 mill is paid out in 2034. So technically this is still accurate. He is still “making more money in his contract” this season. He’s just not getting it right away.
Basketball and football is not as popular as these other sports, but people only talk about Basketball and football players making too much money. I wonder why that is 🤔😂
First one is incorrect. Ohtani's contract is mostly deferred. He's only making like 8 mill per season of the contract then making like 400 million after the playing contract is over
Don’t really know where y’all got the numbers from but Haaland ain’t making 58 mil a year… actually salaries in football/soccer are a lil bit crazy bc there’s no salary cap and teams like Madrid just don’t pay over 15mil a year for any player even the likes of Mbappe while rather avg stars make like 60mil tax free money in Arabia 😂
No Lebron is actually making more money then ohtani “this year” i think he’s making like 2 million a year for first 10 years and the rest gets paid the next 10 years in avg
Ohtani is technically making more money than lebron in his contract this year still tho. He’s just not getting it paid out right away, but in his contract he’s making $70 mill for playing this year
He is technically making that much for playing this year, he’s gonna get that money no matter what. He’s just not technically getting paid it this year so he doesn’t destroy his team’s salary cap. But it is a fact that in his contract Shohei is making $70 mill by playing this year.
This is gonna blow your mind but we don’t care to watch soccer for the same reason y’all don’t care to watch football. We aren’t raised on it and because of the time difference it’s on at hours of the day that we’d rather not sit down and watch it. If you aren’t a soccer fan, then it’s perfectly reasonable to not know who Haaland is 😂 it’s just like someone from Croatia not knowing who CJ Stroud is. It’s not that deep, we just don’t care about the leagues out there. If we had the talent of the EPL in the MLS, we’d all watch. But we don’t so who tf cares, we got the best baseball, basketball, football, and hockey on the planet instead 😂
@eliyarrows2456 Im Australian btw and dont watch the EPL but the same way I know who Maholmes or Ant is, Its hard not to hear who the biggest young stars in each sport is. I think calling it "soccer" only further proves my point... Football is played all around the globe, American football is played in one country only...
Thinking about that, it makes sense because of inflation I don't think it really matters when it comes to that amount tho, you just have to not go broke lol
Actually technically the wording of the question still makes Shohei the correct answer. Shohei is making $70 mill in his contract for playing baseball this year. That’s a fact, “who’s making the most money in their contract this year” and this year in Shohei’s contract he’s making $70 mill guaranteed. He’s just not having it paid out this year so he doesn’t hurt the teams salary cap. He’s only getting paid $2 mill this year, but in his contract he’s earning $70 mill and the $68 mill is coming in 2034
