The beauty of Maxi is that you never truly know what the mix up is gonna be. Theres common strings and the bread and butter combos but every Maxi is slightly different. I only play soulcalibur bc of Maxi and Maxi is my toughest matchup even though hes my main.

I wanted to main Taki since I was super good with her as a kid, but coming back to the game as a much slower adult, I have gravitated to playing Nightmare a lot more. Mostly because his combos are easy peasy, super cheesy. 😁

As a Hilde main I found your comment hilarious about her. And yea she indeed is 1 of the best characters in the roster they finally did her good 👍🏻. The scary thing with Hilde is the fact that she is always free to charge/launch her attacks and you cant notice it. Her verticals/ horizontals are insane. She is literally a short and long range fighter in 1 and thats where she shines..she's good against the whole roster. Oh and dont let me start about her whiff punish game+regalia..she's a better and rewarding Sophitia relying on punish and mistakes.

Then again... if I see Cassandra, Raph, Geralt, 2B or even Groh. I am tempted to just put the controller down and cry in my wine bottle. lol Great video!

To this day I _still_ have trouble against Yoshimitsu, Voldo, and Hwang; I fight the first often enough, but the latter two are so rare online - and it doesn't help that I've never really studied their move lists to give myself an idea of just what to do. On a related note, I think fighting against the CPU on "Legendary" difficulty has been detrimental in the long-run due to how hyper-offensive the A.I. tends to be, whereas human opponents tend to pace themselves better (also the A.I. likes to Ukemi _too_ much which makes it too easy to punish them).

There was this Raphael who used to beat me hard every single time I met him. Didn't know what to do. Fought him over 100 times I think and only won once.

h e h e all of the characters I'm decent with are in the top two tiers I used to be good with Talim but I got rusty and I haven't tried to remedy that- also with Setsuka I have the concept down but not the execution

Im a half newbie myself but I have been practicing a lot since I started on 2021, and also watched a bunch of guides. Here's my 2 cents on the "Help Me" ones 😹: With Astaroth what always worked for me with any character is just going the fast as f*** way. Rushdown on him like if there's no tomorrow. He has a massive range and grappling can be a headache but his weakness is that he's among the slowest chars and while close range is his strenght for the grapples, is also his weakness cause just like Nightmare, on short range his toolset is very poor. Another thing is to avoid high attacks if you can cause his hitbox for dodging high attacks is just BS XD Raphael's kryptonite for what I heard and noticed so far is 8way-ing since most of his core attacks are very vertical relyant so if you sidestep a lot you limit him to use a weaker toolset, and while he can still be a hastle, most of his power tools are linear. Which kinda surprise me cause at times he almost strikes me more of a Guilty Gear or 2D weapon based fighter character than a 3D one. Seong Mina I never had particularly major issues against but that's cause I always try against her to do what I do with Ivy, try to get in, and when I go in try to rush down. With "Mina" is easier than with Ivy cause the latter can be dangerous on close range too but at the same time I feel like while Ivy's game is more range based, she's not as quick as SM. Which she pays for it on close range, something that Ivy doesn't strugle as much. With Voldo I say, fight randomite with randomite lmao No kidding that's what worked with me.... Kinda lol, I never know what stupid things he's gonna come up with so I end up pseudo-button mashing, which kiiiinda works? Sadly on this one I could use some help as well I admit XD Xiangua..... Hmmmm, can we ban that character out of existance? 🤣 No wait. BAN CASSANDRA OUT OF EXISTANCE! Phew, that felt good to say XD Hilde is a tricky case. She depends a lot of her charged attacks and think that she's a "keep X button pressed" kind of character, so anything that forces her to release that button so she has to "charge it up" again is very effective. The thing with her is that she can be as linear as Raphael but on long range, however on short range she's just as dangerous as even Talim cause that's where her horizontals with her smol sword shine. So I would say that you have to somehow keep a mid horizontal range against her, or force her to use verticals on short range somehow? The key is.... Spear = B attacks, Sword = A attacks and from there practice accordingly. That's not a rule but a tendency tho. And a bonus one. With Inferno.... You're 200% allowed to use cheats. Fight broken with broken as it should be lmao
