Have you ever done a video on explaining when and why you switch blades and when you would use a guard to cover a blade? I am a beginner and trying to understand the whole basics of using the razor.

You should really title your video "Tips on how to maintain dog clippers" and not "Which clippers should I use." It's misleading! Having said that, your video is very informative and helpful. Now, how come your site is offline?!

07-09-2020: I thought this video was about which blades to use, which is why I visited your tutorial 'cause I needed to know, but to my surprise, this has more to do with maintenance than anything else. Very misleading, but I did learn some things otherwise. However, I guess I'll have to mosey on elsewhere to find out which clippers are good for grooming which body parts of my pups.

I love how good of a teacher you are. I have 4 cats and 3 goldendoodles. My doodles are super hard on my clippers. My Oster A5 won't even cut anymore. But anyhow thank you for you videos. I do shave 2 of my cats every spring. Are there blades specific to cats?

Hi DeDe, I have a brand new ceramic 10 blade. It was working beautifully until I used a guard on it. Now the blade pulls the hair instead of cutting. Could I have messed the tension up? And if so, what do I do to fix it? Thank You so much, Jill

Your video clearly explained how to replace the clipper blade. I couldn't get it on, no matter how many other blade changing videos I watched. You clearly showed how to open the hinge, which was the problem. There is no way in hell you can get that blade back on if that hinge has closed. Thank you. Love your videos. Hey Dede, is the scotch tape not working for the hair splinters? Weird, it works for me. (I suggested it recently) Or at the least, the tape will keep the splinter from irritating your skin until you can get to the sink or use tweezers to pull it out.

Hi Dede , love your grooming video's ...although I have been been professionaly grooming for 17 years I still learn a lot ( of clever stuff from you...) I specialise SCWTerriers (and when I have time, a few other terrier breeds, ) and i am sure you know how difficult Wheatens can be... I usually get them after owners have gone thru a lot of groomers after finally being banned, generally it can take me many groomings before the dog considers me as safe and pain free ! I have just finished watching your "blade and clipper" video and I have a question regarding which blade you normally use with a guard....... I use an Andis AGR+cordless clipper and Oster metal Guards, In error a few times, I have used something other than a #30 blade with a guard, and presto ! major disaster, and usually a broked blade !!!! I am wondering if I have missed out on a essential step or info from your video or perhaps I am missing a step in my own MO ! Keep up the great work, I wish all groomers had your skills , I wouldn't be inheriting so many so many canine persona non gratis............. :)

I have an Oster 5A that I purchased about 5 years ago. It came with a 10 blade and I also ordered a 7 blade. Out of the box the clippers would not cut the fur on either of my two boarder collies. The blades just skipped over the fur. I got it out again during COVID closures to trim my wife's American Standard Poodle and it wouldn't begin to cut through his matted hair. I have watched several videos about sharpening the blade and it is sharp. I am using blade oil and it just will not cut dog hair with either blade. I finally gave up on it today and used scissors which had to be sharpened about 5 times. What is wrong with my Oster clippers? A Google search reveals that this is a common complaint with the Oster brand.

Have you tried cordless clippers? I was just wondering if they cut the same. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, if you cook with ceramic knifes, you know how super brittle they are. But, they are so so sharp for so long.

I groom my animals but I rescued a dog and it was so the little guy was so matted he had to be taken to the vet to sedate him and the vet cut his little lag 12 stitches I was WTH !! He was sedated but he was so matted they couldn't find his foot ...But I thought he was a puppy and a med size dog but to my surprise he was 13 years old and little poodle ..But the vet said he has never had a bath or groomed and he will be DIFFICULT ! Man he wasn't kidding ! But I do it he don't pretty like I would like but he clean and not matted that was 9 years ago and he is going strong..Still horrible for grooming but ! I do it.Good information..thank you.

Video does not match the title. Nice to know how to clean the blade and a lot of bla,bla,bla about monkey cord. While it clearly shows you have a wealth of experience, consider the audience experience level from beginner to intermediate to experts. Slow your roll and let your message sink in. I would also suggest to match the video to the title. This is great stuff but not for a beginner who wants to learn “how to”
