The main issue I see is people that have used the same internet provider for years are afraid of trying new internet. The systems we use today almost require fast internet speed. At least 200mbs for gaming. My parents don't understand internet needs to be faster and they stick with the old 28mbs trash. I keep telling them that they are paying for overpriced trash internet when they could be paying the same for one of the best internet speeds available right here in town. My parents keep telling my brother and I "Well we are good with what we have" hard headed talk as they complain about it everyday. It honestly makes me laugh. They ignore my smarter financial suggestions thinking they know better. Everyone just get better internet and make smarter choices so your not financially struggling and complaining.

@DaFuzZ7
@DaFuzZ7 3 года назад
You seem to not understand internet speed, and that's fine. 150Mbps is actually 18.75MBPS. Notice how the letters are capitalized differently? That's because BITS are different than BYTES. So in order to find you ACTUAL download speed you see on your computer, you take your product speed (150Mbps)( notice the b isn't capitalized, this stands for BITS) and divide it by 8 to get 18.75MBPS (a capital B stands for BYTES), and the reason why is because there are 8 bits in a byte. Life is easier when you educate yourself.
@demonheart13
@demonheart13 Год назад
@@DaFuzZ7 as someone who also doesn't know anything about bytes and bits, is this a good speed. It seems 18Mbps (and yes it's spelled like that on my statement) is the highest internet speed I'm capable of having with ATT in my area. I've looked at other internet providers but it seems ATT has a chokehold of this area.

I had spectrum...it's great 500mbps down/20mbps up. I switch to frontier 500mbps down/500 Mbps up. It's awesome. I switch for the more upload and cheaper. Had spectrum for close to 30 yrs...didn't have any other to choose. Their service is consistence, when there is a hurricane; I lose it. Beside that it is good. Frontier finally available. All their equipment is generator backup. I have battery backup at my house...so I shouldn't lose my service even in a hurricane. Let's see when that times come.

Well my family uses windstream as we live out in the country so we have to pay like $30 to have pretty good internet; like I’m sitting here and I have a full wifi signal. And we two different channels, one is for most utilities and the second one is for the use of recreational or being online. And the two channels come from a WiFi router 6 feet away from me that is attached to a disk with an underground durable cable.

I actually live in one of the few places in America where internet just straight up doesn’t f-ing work. And it’s just my small neighborhood that deals with this. If I drive like, less than a mile away from my house, I could get good internet. It really REALLY sucks. I can’t do anything, including online homework. I can’t have Netflix. I can’t Google stuff. I can hardly even watch RU-vid videos without it loading every 5 seconds. All y’all with even half-decent wifi should be on your hands and knees thanking whatever deity you believe in right now, because you are incredibly lucky to be able to do the things you can do online. Half of the stuff you probably do daily is absolutely impossible and unheard of for me. The only way I can get serviceable internet connection is by paying for expensive a$$ data on my phone bc I luckily live close to a cell tower. I remember when my family found out about unlimited data being accessible for us being a fcking godsend, and even then our data is pretty garbage for how much we’re paying for it.

Oh and before anyone tries to come at me with your dopey “solutions”, trust me, I’ve heard it all. Don’t try to tell me a certain internet provider will reach where I live, because none of them do. Not a single one. And they will never reach here because there aren’t enough people living where I live for it to be worth the money for a company to install a satellite or whatever to reach over here. I basically just live in an eternal dead zone. Idk who’s idea it was for us to live here specifically and not literally ANYWHERE else, but with the housing market the way it is, there’s no way in hell I’ll ever escape. It’s basically just a neverending nightmare.

I have Sparklight with Cable One. Never really had an issue. I game online so I use a lot of internet. I have the package over the gaming package $80 a month. Plus, if the company has TRUE fiber optics advertising then it will most likely be good. Always read the fine print for a internet company. They may advertise in the big words about being reliable but that fine print will always have limits that will affect your service. Also, it depends on location and what modem plus a VPN router you have too. Cheap is usually crap. You get what you pay for. If learn how to change settings on your modem and router can change a lot! It's easy to learn too. Time and patience. I don't need cable since everything is online and if the internet ever goes out I got my blu-rays, books and table top games to keep me occupied.

You have to have spectrum run a diagnostic test on your line and see if there's any anomalies. They can also see if your modem is having uncorrected errors. Finally, get yourself an aftermarket router like I did going with the asus Axe16000 and kept the factory modem. It may take many calls of reporting issues but once you get everything fixed you'll be coasting everyday on the wifi. I never have issues with spectrum unless there's an outage. Everything else is fine

I hate to be that guy but this video captures perfectly why people complain about all these companies. The reason isn’t because they are bad, Verizon for example provides excellent fiber via their FIOS branded product. The problem is most people don’t understand how the internet works. This guy complains about 1 bar but that’s his home network(the WiFi) which a ISP never takes ownership of or really has any control over. Wi-Fi is going to inherently be less reliable than hardwired for a myriad of reasons and Wi-Fi is not the same as the internet itself. Lots of resources online that are just a few keystrokes away for setting up a home to be well connected and also explaining the basics about what an end consumer needs to know. From bandwidth needs, to latency for gamers, etc etc
