As an Ethiopian i think Peru is one of the most interesting country in Latin America specially the people are so calm and friendly it seems like we Ethiopians have something common with Peruvians. 🇵🇪❣️🇪🇹
Ethiopia is like the grandaddy of Africa and the world, and Peru is basically the grandaddy of South America. The oldest civilization recorded in the Americas came from Peru. The Caral.
Ethiopia has a huge population, 120 million and young, a train was built in the capital, its economy was growing 8% per year and although there was a minor problem in Tigre, I think that Ethiopia is a future giant!!! It has the potential to be a manufacturing hub!!! Greetings from Lima, Peru
Peru is probably my favorite country in the world! I visited the country at the age of 17, I love Peru! a country that has it all! jungle, mountain, beach and food! Peruvian food is the best in the world. Like lomo saltado! yummy

Latin Americans seem very direct. But what did Chile do to the Peruvians? Maybe there is beef between Peru and Chile? Haha Here in South Korea and Japan, we also have beef, but in these open interviews, we usually refer to mention our common adversaries, China or NK in front of the camera. This is probably the easiest way for us to avoid answering.😄
It is precisely that and you hit the nail on the head in that it is something similar to that of Japan and South Korea, (I am not referring to meat xD) since both got along badly for many years due to the issue of war. The same thing happens with Peru and Chile, in older generations of Peruvians they were taught to hate Chile because of the saltpeter war in the late 1870s and early 1880s, although now due to globalization, to the internet and due to the Haya resolution, the intensity has decreased.
3:35 to refute what the man in the video says, Chile is not all desert. Although it has the driest desert in the world, which is the Atacama desert, the Arid zone of Chile is not even 15% of the Chilean territory, by the way, it is only the Chilean north from the Arica region to the north of Atacama. . why from Coquimbo to the south there is a lot of vegetation and everything is green, especially Patagonia, which is mostly made up of lakes, rivers, fjords, islands, glaciers, etc.
and apparently he still doesn't know to : capilla de mármol, valle de la luna, la laguna roja in Camiña, isla de pascua, torres del paine, selva Valdiviana,Pucón ,ruinas de huanchaca, geysers del tatio, valle de elqui (Gabriela Mistral was born there),punta arenas, isla de chiloe, cajón del maipo, etc
It also made me laugh, also in the other video a Chilean said that Peru was just a desert when my country is among the 10 most megadiverse in the world, sure they both only saw Chile and Peru on Google maps,😵💫

You will like to know this: In 1879 there was a war between Chile and Perú. Peru and Bolivia were allies in this war but Chile ended up as the winner taking some territory from Peru and the Bolivian sea coast. Unfortunately until today many people have a grudge against Chile because of this historical event. Chilean people are also more nosy. But it is only the typical rivalry between neighbouring countries.
They say Chile, but I think they don't want to tell you why exactly, because it would be unpolite and politically incorrect to say the truth. I believe it's in part because of a past war, the Pacific War, when Chile declared war on Peru. An old grievance. But I'm not peruvian and I'm not chilean, so I can't say for sure.

Adoro mucho a Perú.
My dad worked in Peru, so I lived in Lima from age 5 to 10 and in Piura from age 11 to 15. If you had asked the people in Piura (northern part of the country) the same question, they would have said "Ecuador" because Peru fought and won a war with that nation. Further south the answer will be Chile because Peru lost a war (and territory). We came back to the US in 1967 so the Peru I knew and loved is not the same as today. I still use Ahi Amarillo in a lot of my cooking - it has its own flavor that no other pepper exactly duplicates. I am retired now and hope to travel some, and a return trip to Peru is on my bucket list.

I have to disagree that us Americans don't have a culture. It's just that our culture has spread all over the world due to US dominance. I'd love to go to peru one day though, the culture and landscapes look great!
A mí tampoco me gusta Russia.
Peru is my favorite country in the world, so beautifully! a country with so much diversity, heritage. Not to talk of wildlife, deserts, snow laden mountains, lakes, ancient temples, largest chaotic cities , serene valleys. Can’t think if any other country has all. NO. Have seen most of South America except Venezuela. It,s pity , so much to see there. Peru in on the top of my list though.
American here. There is actually a lot of culture in the US. Probably more so than many countries because we are a nation of immigrants. She is right though, that the people can be cold. They are less trusting here and probably for good reason. In smaller towns though, they are friendlier.
Personally I love the US culture, I've been watching american series and movies for years but I feel it won't be safe for me to travel there .. some people there are really violent and guns are not banned unfortunately
Latin Americans don’t hate Spain because our Colonization was also a process of race and culture mixing, not like elsewhere where the Colonizers literally got rid of 100% of the local people and culture, that’s why we also feel as part of the Western Civilization.
That Peruvian girl's answer about the US is ignorant. To say that the United States "doesn't have" culture is most likely from a person who has never visited here. If you do come to visit here, you realize that every single state here is very different from one other. Even then, American Culture is very dominant worldwide and in ways or forms has influenced the world. To respond to her saying that people here are "not warm," well it depends on which city, town, and sometimes state you're staying in. If she was referring to New Yorkers, then I don't blame her but again, NOT everyone in the US acts like New Yorkers! I know I'm going off a rant on her but it's sad that's her perspective on the United States and I hope she in future does come over here and is more open-minded.
Maybe she was talking about an ancient culture, similar to the Inca or the Aztec ones. I'm Peruvian btw. Personally, I'd like to travel to southern states in the US. I've read some novels like Blood Meridian and Faulkner's which deal with this part of the country. I mean, the Japanese have got the samurai, we the Incas, and Americans these wild west gunslingers walking on the plains and deserts. That's something very unique and quite epic. P.S: I'm quite aware that gunslingers don't exist anymore but still, I'd love to visit just to imagine how it was life back then and how much has changed.
@camiloberaun8931 No, she was dissing on the US saying that we don't have "much culture" or we're not "warm or friendly," which isn't true but the second she said that she's not interested in visiting the US makes her answer look stupid, ignorant, and close minded. If I were to have a similar awnser like hers regarding on Peru, you would also be a bit pissed off too. The US is diverse in many aspects, and each state has their own identity, beliefs and culture. There's a huge difference between someone living the East Coast to someone living in the South. You don't have to visit the big known cities like Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Miami, Houston, etc, but there are a lot of underrated cities and places you can visit. and if you come to visit, I hope you enjoy your trip and see the beauty that the US has to offer! And yeah, we don't have "Gunslingers" anymore, but we still have a lot of cowboys living on expensive ranches.
I don't know why there are people from Chile in the comments saying that they are hated here because of the war, I've seen the full video and the people who say they don't like Chile is because of the food or the weather, one last guy He even said that he liked Chile, but he added that in earlier times, more than 100 years ago, there was resentment towards Chile, which is something quite obvious because in those times the war was a recent issue. Good Video 👍
Even if they didn't tell it in this video, there is a huge link between the history classes in Peru and what people think about Chile in this video. Peruvian people don't see Chilean people and Chile country with good eyes. "Their food is not good, the weather is cold and the people are not welcoming". C'mon! Santiago is not Chile, there are a lot of places to visit in Chile. The Chileans who visit Peru they go to Lima, Machu Pichu, Arequipa, the jungle, Tacna, etc. In the other hand, Peruvians only go to Santiago, maybe somebody to Arica and Iquique (the lands took during the war) and that's all. However, it's absolutely natural to "avoid" visiting the country that teachers tought you to hate, or don't judge correctly the culture and people from the country they tought you to hate.
if you go to Chilean food videos, you will see quite a few Peruvians hating on Chilean food, but not only that. there are Peruvians also hating on our music, dance, etc. The hatred is real and you can't deny it.
