Thanks. I have 3 machines. 1. Cricut Expression. Love this machine. Yes, you can still get cartridges. Paid $20. 2. Cricut Joy. Great for making cards. It’s very portable. Bought mine on Mercari for $129. Free shipping. Came with machine, cords, mini press, tools, markers, blades and three rolls of vinyl and two mats. 3. Maker 2. Just purchased it at the beginning of May. $60. Came with cords, 20 rolls of vinyl and tools. Each machine has its own capabilities. I have them set for certain projects.
I have 3 cricuts, Joy, cartridge Expression and the Bluetooth Expression. My Joy and blue tooth Expression cuts the smart vinyl great. The Joy is handy for element cuts and small quick projects. I don’t do much print & cut.
@@rd-gi6jw Yes, Explore 2 (sorry). But I have tried the smart vinyl on my Expression and it cut fine. It's not something I would do very often, as I had to fuss with the cutting speed and pressure, but I don't use that machine very often. Just wondered if it would work.
I have a Cricut Joy Xtra. I am brand new. I’d like to make cards using fabric; is it possible to use the Xtra to cut fabric? I’m hoping to not need a different machine.
Original Maker has Fast Mode for many commonly used materials like vinyl, cardstock, glitter cardstock etc. Fast Mode speed and Maker 3 standard speed are the same. This fact is not well known, nor it's advertised by Cricut.
Do you know if the refurbished machines from Cricut’s website are any good? I have a hot/cold relationship with buying refurbished items but I think I want the Explore Air 2. And at the moment they have some for the price of the Joy machine. But I don’t know if they check their refurbished machines or not.
My husband bought me a Cricut Mini from a garage sale. The machine is in excellent shape. I noticed you did not mention this machine in your video. Is this an obsolete Cricut machine? I am hoping I can still download what I need to get started.
This is probably one of the most informative video I've been thus far about the Cricut machines. It is put together very well and gives you loads of information in order to make a very good decision on which machine to buy. Great job and thank you for taking the time to put this together. I'm sure it was a lot of work. So....thank you. 😁🥰
I appreciate your clear and percise explanation of these Cricut Machines! I'm new to this (as of two days ago 😊) and trying to figure out which one to buy. You're totally awesome!! Thx so much for the explanation..I now know which one I'm ordering. Thx!!
The Cricut Maker has a hold on me. I just got 2 Maker 3. My cousin just got gifted a Cricut from her daughter. We’re about to do all kinds of things for the family.
Thank you for this great video. If one purchased the Explore Air 2, which is an older model (released in 2016 I think), is there a possibility that Cricut could discontinue support for it? Once Cricut discontinues a machine, does that mean it will no longer work with Design Space? I'm considering the Explore Air 2 because of its lower price point, but I don't want to get it if I have to replace it in a year!
Thank u for the information.. it's great . I do hav a quick question. Our daughter is turning 15 and she's extremely crafty she loves to do everything d.i.y . She loves everything hand made I really love that she's so crafty . I would really appreciate ur help with getting the right cricut so I'm basically wondering if I should keep it small to start or just go full blown. And only because I'm hoping she doesn't loose interest?!?! Please please help us!!
Thank you for this video. I have the explorer air 2 and had it for years but was afraid to use it. Lately I have been using it a lot. Your video has enlightened me, I thought I needed to upgrade my machine but it does everything that I need. You explained the differences very well. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to share. I haven’t bought a cricket machine yet but I’d like to get one before Christmas. I want to do T-shirts and personalized mugs and water bottles.
I'm so excited, I just ordered a Maker 3, does anyone know of any good card stock that looks like canvas? Or any cardstock that has texture? I'm specifically looking for a brand, I do not have a lot of art stores in my area.
I wish to do some kids busybook, which i should buy? I use 250gsm cards and laminate film. And, we need to install cricut software in order to use the machine , right?
Hi! I'm just an elementary school teacher who would like to print my own personalized stickers, any suggestion? (I've bought letter size sticker paper, just need the cutter machine)
There are plenty of videos on RU-vid on how to print and cut stickers with Cricut. You need a printer to print stickers and then you cut a printed sheet using Cricut. If the stickers will be your main point of interest, avoid Explore Air 2 for its poor sensor.
Hi…I’m considering buying a cricket machine for my daughter who will be getting married next year. She is very creative and crafty and I know would like to use this for making everything from invitations and signs to wedding favors. I’m wondering which machine would be best for her? I watched one video for the Explore where they said it could only print and cut on white paper. I would definitely want it to print and cut on colored paper as well. Thank you for any advice!
I'm in Australia, mums a quilter, so she wouldn't use this, but I mod and repaint action figures which one would be for me ( I just really want to create custom decals ) The figures are 7 inch 1/10 scale, so they won't be huge decals
It's a matter of personal preference but Cameos have better program and work offline. Cricut is the only brand that works only online. Also, consider Siser Juliet.
Have a quick question for you or anyone else who reads this and can answer, lol. I'm starting a little sneaker customization side business and need something that can cut vinyl stencils for me...essentially cutting a sticky paper or vinyl sheet with release backing that I can then peel the release paper from, then stick it on the shoe to airbrush over the top of, and ultimately peeling it off leaving the painted image on the sneaker. Quite honestly, this is PROBABLY the ONLY thing I will use the machine for, 😆. So whichever machine makes the most sense for that would be great! Obviously with it being on a sneaker, I'd say that a thinner piece (say 8"-12") would all I'd ever need and then the length of the shoe...which it sounds like ALL of these machines could handle. So, ANY recommendations?
I personally think you should try the cricut explore air or cricut explore 3. I personally have the maker 3 regret not getting the explore 3 for simplicity I'm just using it as a hobby.
I want to paint a custom helmet with unique designs, so I know I need a machine like the Cricut to cut the shapes, but I also need a material I can stick to the helmet to block the paint while I'm painting, but I also need to easily remove the material after painting. Can I do that with vinyl? Does anyone know what material I need to accomplish this?
Which cricut is best for cutting the glitter foam sheets with clean lines. I make homecoming mums and have been deciding on a machine for a while but still unsure of which one.
Explore machines can cut foam with Deep Point blade. Maker models can cut with both Deep Point and the Knife Blede. From the experience, your blades must be sharp and the mats must have decent grip.
I have had a bunch of ideas for projects and needed a way to cut things, and it only just occurred to me to use a cricut. This video has been a big help for informing me. Is there any difference to precision between models, or are all of them equally as precise? It would be a neat video to see what the limits of precision are for each machine
When it comes to basic cut, they are all pretty accurate. When it comes to Print Then Cut, Explore Air 2 has the worst sensor and many users experience issues with the sensor not being able to read the registration marks on glossy materials but there are known hacks to circumvent the issue.
Yes, I have a scan n cut from brother. I love the scan feature to be able tp accurately place my image on a scrap piece of paper for example. But everything else seems so archaic. Their stock images are awful (greek mythology, really?) And I have to use a USB to transfer. Looking at the cricut.
Only the original Maker comes with the Fine Point Blade and the Rotary Blade. Other models come with the Fine Point Blade only. Blades for Joy and Joy Xtra are different. All other blades and housings are sold separately.
You send your design, like a sticker sheet from the Design Space (the program that runs Cricut) to a printer. Following that, you put the printed sheet on the mat and cut printed images.
I've had my Cricut Explore Air 2 for 6 1/2 years and I LOVE IT! I've never felt limited - I've made literally hundred of things with it and it's been awesome. However, I am considering upgrading now, probably to the Maker, but I have a question: I know you can cut on that without a mat, using Cricut smart vinyl. But I don't care for any of Cricut's vinyl, either permanent or HTV. Can I use another brand of vinyl in the Maker without a mat? Thanks so much for this video - it was VERY VERY helpful! I truly love all your work!
