Now that i think about it, sword of damnation couldve been a light greatsword with the elagence of Midra's moveset, movement and stance during the fight
This would've been cool, but when you see Midra use the weapon, its absolutely fucking massive and its honestly suprising that the weapon isn't a colossal sword when we use it. So I think making it a greatsword and giving it the moveset it has was probably the best choice, but obviosly likewise with how all boss weapons should be handled, it should have a unique moveset similar to one of Midra's combos
I agree but if you take a step back and look, he's only able to wield the great sword with such elegance because he's fucking huge. He's like 7ft while we're only 5'7.
@@Krakain however, you can RUN and JUMP with both the giant crusher and fingerprint shield equipped why wouldn't we be able to wield an elongated spine like the dude... who's spine we took Also the sword is shrunken to about the same size of the one that you see in his first phase
It doesn’t even need a unique moveset, just give it the sexy light attack combo and the claymore heavy and rolling attacks, instant best greatsword in the game
The Radahn greatswords are such a missed opportunity. Like i genuinely got mad when i deafeated the boss after 100+ tries and got 2 worse copies of an already existing weapon which is much better and you can get way earlier. What a tragedy of a weapon.

@@kim-xo No, as I clearly said, I meant the 90% of weapons in DS3 with terrible special moves no one ever uses, but of course you'd take one of the 10% good ones to pretend it wasn't the case as usual. DS3 was known for having an extremely limited meta but sure keep your nostalgia tinted glass pretending that they had no bad weapons. Heck there's a video in this very channel that shows how half the boss weapons in DS3 were terrible and barely usable. You just didn't pay attention back then and now you joined the "If I can't use it to crush the game easily it's unusable" crew. Also last time I checked the ringed city had 18 new weapons, half of those I almost never saw anyone use be it in game, pvp or streams Meanwhile SOTE has 98, so even if 80 of those were bad (which is far from the case) it would still be more good weapons. Heck literally every weapon on this list exept the Radhan sword with the jump attack is great and perfectly usable. Honestly, the Radahn Greatswords were the perfect opportunity for a stance weapon: You hold your hands up in the Pontiff stance, and light attack uses the light skill while strong attack does the lord skill. Lol, just got to the part of the video when you talk about turning it into a stance.
Even better, make us hold them opened and to the side like the stance Radahn is usually portrayed in. Sure it's a bit basic but it's a unique stance compared to what's available to us.
@@lmtalpha6382 It would've been super cool too if during the stance, one blade had golden rays coming off of it for lightspeed dash, and one had sparkles that drifted down for Promised Consort. They've shown us they can make a stance weapon with two different effects, as evident from Relanna's swords
Imagine you’re a hero who has squired the status of Demi-god and you are lording in your land somberly as no one dares to challenge you but then a new foe a man who is rather small compared to you but is battle hardened you watch him run at you dodge all your strikes like a blur just to realize you are getting the shit kicked out of you with a giant sunflower
In case you were curious, the spinning gravity thrust isn't exclusive to Radahn. It's just that Gaius and Radahn both had the same Gravity spell teacher so they both know the same arts.
I want(ed) another heavy thrusting sword of the wing talon that Bayle lost, could've just been that instead of the spell, with that spell as its ash of war. That way it could be powerstanced with Dragon King Cragblade for thematic purposes, too. Bayle's Nail.
Yeah that's such an stupid choice. It prevents you from blocking with the weapon. Literally every paired weapon allows blocking except for Rellana's twin blades
@@Scorchlettegod forbid a weapon uniqueness being a stupid left handed straight sword r1 that you cant even do a crouch attack with (which is the best attack for straightswords). The weapon is already unique with the unique AOW.
There's absolutely no reason at all to make Radahn's swords two separate weapons. I'm just... so confused by that. You pointed out, rightly so, that they could have, and SHOULD have just made them curved greatswords with a stance. Not only would that set them apart from the Starscourge Greatswords, but it wouldn't break their pattern of having two unlocks per remembrance. I mean, why the FUCK would they do it that way when they already had a mechanism in place that would perfectly combine the two skills and makes perfect sense in the context of the game? Fromsoft games are just littered with these tiny instances of absolutely pointless and baffling limitations imposed by the devs. WHY????
There’s basically no reason to fight PCR after your first playthrough. You definitely don’t need the runes, the rewards are unappealing at best, and the fight itself is pretty bad. Such a letdown for the final boss ER will ever have.
@Scowleasy wait what? Since when did ppl think this fight was bad? I just recently beat him for the first time, and while extremely hard, I thought it was great, with lots of callbacks to the first Radahn fight. Plus the music matched the fight perfectly

Messmers sphere is all right but for the reasons that were said in the video it's not perfect I agree it should be a bit higher remember this video is on opinions not fact besides I think great sword of damnation is probably at the spot where the spear was
@@BLP04 it's kinda ass tbh. Your never gonna stagger a boss because it does 9 stance dmg. If you want a throwing weapon I'd prefer using the spectral lance. It does more dmg, the skill is not bad tho
I'm flabbergasted at how a huge chunk of Messmer's moveset was outright ruined by the decision to turn all the R2's into throwing moves. It really should have been a stance; R2 throws it quickly, R1 does his normal combo. As it stands, both Messmer's Soldier Spear and Queelign's Greatsword are better spears than their boss.
Seems to be a very you love it or hate it boss, personally I really like it. It does very high danmage and is very fast but makes up for it with how much damage it takes. Truly underrated boss
@@eddisonwilde4699 I just love its design, the way it moves, its theme, and I'm also a big fan of faith-related builds and stuff in the game, especially with holy damage, so perhaps I'm a bit biased too
I wish Consort Radahn kept his two weapons, but one was str/fth with a holy damage weapon art, and the other would be str/int with a gravity magic weapon art. Would’ve made significantly more sense. All the other changes you made would’ve been perfect though. Powerstanced Curved-Greatswords would’ve made these weapons like 5x better.
I would've loved a str/arc cgs as the other option, with the blood flame from the bossfight as the skill or something more intricate. Then we would have a str/int, a str/fth and a str/arc
Not only we didn't get any of his new gravity moves, we have to spend a remembrance duplication on the exact same weapon when the skills could just have been a stance with two moves...
My biggest problem with it is its just a basic smithing heavy thrusting sword, so what you can change about it, you can also change on 3 other heavy thrusting swords. And the skill is just a massive missed opportunity. I mean, not only is the skill not even one of Gaius's attacks, its not even an attack from the DLC. Fromsoft couldn't even bother putting the AOW somewhere else in the DLC and then give this weapon a proper unique skill like Gaius's phase transition. All this weapon does is just further my point that the DLC had a deadline that was set far to early for the amount of content they wanted to add, and it shows with Messmer's terrible R2, both of Radahn's swords and this weapons being turned into a basic smithing weapon.
@@snuppet Correct me if im wrong but Gaius quite literally does the ash of war spin attack when hes in his second phase, the lore behind him being able to do it is because him and radahn learnt it together or something like that
Personally I enjoyed the fight against Rahdan, thought it was really cool but given how hard it was and how much shit he pulled out of his ass I agree, the weapons should have been way better.
Messmer’s spear is good for pvp, since the jump from the first cast counts as a hitbox, meaning that if you can hit the initial jump, first cast will be a true combo (from what I can tell) and the running R2 is good for preventing flask heals, since the thrown spear will close the distance. On PVE, though, it makes sense why it’s on the lower half
@@Bayle-the-Dread-Dragon that could work but there are already 2 colossal remembrance weapons for metyr and the scadutree avatar. but you are bayle so i don't judge what weapon would be made out of you
I agree that the radhan greatsword should have been stance based, and that they should have been faith or even hear me out, int based but doing full holy damage which would have made them way more unique. I still think that like the boss they are cool as hell tho, but hey opinions. As for the rest I seriously think the DLC gave us some of the sickest weapons in fromsoft history, I've been having so much fun trying as many of them as possible.
This is a good video. I like how you are not just theory crafting the viability of the weapons, by using them on a run and also using good builds with them.
Another cool idea for the greatswords would be to, again, combine them into one weapon with a stance skill. However, replace one of the holy light skills with one of his new gravity attacks. Make it scale primarily with strength but also have int and faith as secondary scalings. The damage would be split between slash physical, magic, and holy making it a one of a kind weapon and a sort of sister weapon to Rellanas.
How to fix the Radahn Weapons 1. Give them unique R1 movesets, or at the very least make them Curved Greatswords 2. Combine them both into a holy based/faith scaling pair of swords with a stance skill 3. Make the second set of swords a magic based/int scaling pair of swords with gravity based skill(s) 4. Add a cool option to combine the two of them with Enya like in DS3 with the Twin Princes Greatswords, which would make them both Int and Faith scaling, and create an even cooler Stance Skill Lol, just watched the part where you made you're own changes, glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought of the curved-greatsword idea, especially since powerstancing CGS's looks a lot like Radahn's actual combos
I seriously did not expect messmers weapon to be so low. It was such a great weapon to use in PvP. I also didn’t expect midras sword not to be in the top three. I think it’s my favourite dlc remembrance weapon.
I love the idea of making them curves great swords. But i think they should've kept the whole 2-of-the-almost-same-thing. They could've made one holy with a stance like you said, and the other arcane and blood flame which i wish they had more in the bossfight.
Can’t help but feel like fromsoft half assed so many of the weapons in this dlc. many of the remembrance weapons are outclassed by things you can just find on the ground. And while they did fulfill the promise of 8 new weapons types, most only have three or less weapons per new category, while they poured a bunch of new weapons into existing categories.
Half of the boss weapons were always kinda trash in previous souls games i honestly feel like its much better in elden ring and sote though there are still some weaker boss weapons. And yeah i definitely agree that there aren't enough weapons in the new categories but the exciting thing is that whenever fromsoft makes their next souls game all of these weapon types will be in the game from the start with a lot more weapons which is honestly crazy to think about specially if they add even more weapon types on top of the already existing ones in elden ring and its dlc that would be a crazy amount of weapons.
Also i feel like the weapons getting outclassed problem is the consequence of weapon types in souls games. like if there are multiple weapons that have the exact same moveset and diffrent scalings and damge numbers, some of them are definitely going to be weaker than others, but in a game like bloodborne or monster hunter every weapon is its own unique thing and you can't really compare them with each other and which one of them is better really comes down to your playstyle and prefrence.
@@satjotsagoo for PvE it's alright I guess, it's balanced and unlike RoB or Moonveil where you can L2'ing all over the place and mashing it like rabid monkey without caring anything to the point it's broken. @@mohammedbaig9569 so far only dragon attacks can stagger you. And big attacks like fire giant etc. But you won't budge at tarnished attack it can even tank Radahn's cross slash attack
The problem with giving Arcane the ability to boost Rot buildup is that it would also boost the Rot buildup of Rotten Breath and there's nothing that you can do to avoid that from happening because of how the Dragon Communion Seal works. Trust me when I say that you really don't want Rotten Breath having 40% more Scarlet Rot Buildup per tick (If Frenzied Burst's Madness boost is accurate to what it would do to Rotten Breath), it would have like 90 Rot Buildup per tick. Back before they nerfed the Rot buildup of Rotten Breath and Ekzyke's Decay It would have been even worse. That and Scarlet Aeonia as well would have downright obscene Rot buildup. From really put themselves into a corner with those three spells making it impossible to allow Scarlet Rot buildup to get boosted by Arcane as it would completely break those spells otherwise.
after hearing the gaius weapons part i was seriously surprised that it isnt the 1st place, even after watching the rest of the video it really seems like the best thing out of them
If i had remembrance weapons "tail weapon of Bayle the Dread, this large club was the sole crutch that the great Dragon Bayle used to move around when his leg was torn into shreds by the Dragonlord Deals both Fire and Lightning damage The Jagged peak was once the base of the royal city of Farum Azula, before Bayle's treason Dragons and Ancient Dragons lived in peace together signified by the existence of Bayle's homeland, Dragonbarrow." Hence how his Consort, Greyoll, is dying there, without his knowledge Unique skill: Bayle's Ruin Unleases the power of Dragons, Granting the user large wings and slamming the spear into the ground, creating a gigantic eruption of magma in the process."
I agree with all of your changes to Radahn's greatswords except for the switch from int to faith. Every other final boss remembrance reward is already a faith item, and the DLC already adds twice the amount of faith weapons as it does int (excluding all the weapons that ask for both) *and* what is canonically a holy damage sorcery and makes it an incantation when we use it (spira). Having the ultimate version of Radahn's Greatswords be taken by faith builds and blocking int weapons out of their last chance to get anything other than a physical/magic damage split on top of that would just be unnecessary. Faith is already the kid being held up in that drowning in the pool meme. It doesn't need to get Radahn's Greatswords as well. Also someone, for the love of god, save arcane (the dead person at the bottom of the pool). But don't do it by giving them what should have been an int weapon this time (Meteoric Ore Greatsword).
Felt so weird that both putrescent cleaver and meteoric ore greatsword are strength/arcane but feel like they should have been strength/int. I was really unhappy about that since I took a str/int to the DLC on my first time lol, respecced just cause I wanted to use both so bad
Rellanas twin blades would be my favorite weapon in the game by far if it had a B scaling in faith and int. It would give me a real reason to do a fairh int build.
Yeah faith int hybrids are kinda trash in elden ring i was hoping they add some new spells, weapons or even a new affinty for faith/int scaling to make them a little bit better but sadly that didn't happen.
I'm literally watching this right now and was thinking exactly the same solution for the weapon art of radahn's greatsword. Fromsoft literally did the exact same thing with the Twin Princes Greatsword from DS3. They had the blueprint- and could've made it even better by making it easier to obtain (in DS3 you couldn't get the Twin Princes Greatsword until NG+1 since you had to have each princes' sword to combine together) I don't get how they could've fumbled so badly on this boss weapon.
While the video is very high quality and very well made, I disagree with some of your placements so I'll leave here my ranking. (it's my opinion not factual) 1. Blasphemous Blade. After the nerf of Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear and with the introduction of the Bloodsucking Cracked Tear and Talisman of the Dread I think this is the best weapon in the game and it isn't close. 2. Sword Lance. You don't need to use it with Spinning Gravity Thrust only. Combine it with Royal Knight's Resolve or Cragblade and and Deflecting Hardtear and it's insane how much damage it does. But this is kinda biased because I just love the weapon so it might actually be not as good as I say. 3. Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear. While it's not a weapon I really like I acknowledge that it's still insanely powerful, although I don't have a lot to say about it. 4. Maliketh's Black Blade. Nothing really has changed about it except of the addition of the Sword of Light to make it even stronger. 5. Sacred Relic Sword. It's not for farming only, it still has very good AR, 110 Crit Multiplier and demolishes anything in the open world with the AoW. 6. Starscourge Greatsword. Nothing really changed about it. 7. Morgott's Cursed Sword. I don't know why you have it so low on the list, it's an amazing weapon. 8. Lord Radahn's Greatsword. I also hate it but it still has a very good AoW and good for R1 jump attacks as you said. 9. Axe of Godfrey. It's a shame it doesn't have an S scaling in Strength but it's still a very good weapon especially for PvP against dumbasses. 10. Spear of the Impaler. The R2 might be bad but it still hits like a truck. 11. Bastard's Stars. It might be outclassed by Wing of Astel but the AoW is still very good. moveset kinda sucks though. 12. Dragon King's Cragblade. After the nerf to its stance damage it's not that good IMO. 13. Marika's Hammer. The AoW hits very hard and the hammer moveset is still good. 14. Hand of Malenia. Nothing really changed about this weapon, except if you want to use Godskin Swaddling Cloth with Bloodsucking Tear for even more damage. 15. Gazing Finger. It's basically what you said but I don't think it's that good. 16. Putrescence Cleaver. It's good but the AoW is kinda bad, just use a cold infused greataxe with wild strikes and it's outclassed. 17. Greatsword of Damnation. While it's insane in PvP, I don't really enjoy it in PvE. 18. Rellana's Twin Blades. I just wish it had better scalings, maybe B or A in everything and and that the neutral moveset was the LGS moveset and not a powerstanced LGS moveset as I don't really like it. 19. Shadow Sunflower Blossom. It's ok but not that good, I prefer my AoW to compliment the weapon I use someway, not be just like R2 because you can use 2 charged R2s in the time it takes to use the full AoW combo. 20. Axe of Godrick. It's just mid. 21. Giant's Red Braid. I just with you could roll out of the AoW whenever you wanted. 22. Poleblade of the Bud. It has a good R1, that's about it. 23. Winged Greathorn. It's mid at best, 15% damage increase on enemies is pointless because at the time it takes to use it you could just attack again. 24. Grafted Dragon. It's shit, I wish it worked like godrick uses it where if you have it on your offhand it also adds extra fire damage on storm AoWs (except zamor ice storm because it's already insane). The AoW is kinda shit also. 25. Radahn's Greatsword of Light.

@@threeplanker yes, the reason i commented this is because of the list he included at the end which I disagree with, so I decided to include my opinion
16:15 D->C scaling is the usual for ranged projectile type weapon skills, unlike sorceries they get a base damage boost by upgrading the weapon which results in an overally similar damage curve even tho sorcery staffs end up with S scaling.
@somersaultinggiraffe1901 that has literally always been the case, in demon's souls, excluding the meat cleaver, all boss weapons are heavily outclassed by things you can find on the ground or buy from a merchant, in Dark Souls 1, you can grab the Zweihander in 4 minutes and play the game on easy mode, or try to get the Black Knight Halberd and play on super easy mode. In Dark Souls 2, most of the best weapons are just found on the ground somewhere and most boss weapons are subpar. In Dark Souls 3, the boss weapons are, on average, much better than in previous games, but you can grab the Lothric Knight Greatsword before long and it's in the top 5 best weapons in the game. This has ALWAYS been a thing for Souls games
Kinda want to, but obviously only with the new custom remembrance weapons, the problem is, the mod is nowhere near finished and I already know they have plenty of remembrance bosses to add
I just wish the Putrescent Cleaver’s hilt was rotated ninety degrees so the blade lines up more like a traditional axe-head, instead of slamming the hilt into the ground while the blade sticks up and curves back awkwardly
Pretty sure the radahn swords are meant to be purely thematic tbh. They are the same because One sword is when he is Radahn fighting and the other is when he has miquella’s help. I do agree having one of them just be kinda trash in terms of dmg and scaling is just a missed opportunity but I also believe thematic weapons that aren’t great to use regularly are fine to exist.
Yeah that’s fair. But when I get a weapon from arguably the hardest boss in the game I expect it to be good. Not thematic, but a great weapon. If I spend a lot of time to get a boss weapon it has to be somewhat worth it
@@Idiotic_Fire Personally, I think, having weapons be just good and not amazing just because the boss it came from is hard is okay. I don't get much enjoyment out of a weapon, if it goes to far in the other direction. Something like the Blasphemous Blade is undoubtedly good, but I would shy away from using it less, if it was just a bit more balanced and I can enjoy more of a challenge. Now, despite their problems the weapons are actually not bad, they just don't destroy like the Blasphemous Blade.
Save that for something like the Euporia, a hidden weapon that’s gotten for free. Not the Boss Soul weapon of the hardest boss in the game that isn’t optional.
Is usually the norm that these final boss weapons are underwhelming and purely thematic, like gwyn's sword in ds3, i like them and promised consort is a fun weapon skill to use
I constantly found myself scrolling down multiple times throughout the video to like it, because the editing, writing etc. was so good that i genuinely kept forgetting i already liked the video, this actually happens with a lot of your videos, one of the best Elden Ring creators for sure, and yet one of the most underrated.
The way Radahn's weapons are held just looks so awkward and rubbish. Makes potentially cool weapons look so below mid. Just have us hold them like Radahn does, that'd be way cooler, regardless of power.
I deadass wanted radahns swords to be the most broken shit in the game just because. Like why not??? Shit would’ve been so sick if they just made them good or had them as ONE AOW and not 2 items. Like makes the heavy do the slam and the light attack do the sequence of swings
Would've been way cooler if we just got some sort of Unalloyed weapon that nulified certain status build ups or something, but instead, the reward for our work is a worse, more expensive version of the GOAT Starscourge Swords
That beautiful sunflower is my favorite DLC weapon. Had some jerk repeatedly invading, running around Midra's Manor with Consort Radahn weapons (it wasn't even 48 hours after the DLC launched, so just a massive spoiler weapon). Dude would hide behind enemies and spam the weapon art while the Hunters killed him a few times. Eventually I killed everything and had him cornered. Bastard thought he could beat me in the weapon art poise duel. The sunflower flattened him, threw poop on his corpse, and he stopped invading me (who knows if he actually ragequit though)
Just gotta say good job on the editing. I'm trying to edit my own video and it is surprisingly hard, so props to you for absolutely killing it here! I didn't see anyone mention this so I had too. Good job man!
Tarnished when swinging Radahn swords: ahhh, too heavy. Tarnished when using Radahn swords AoW: they are feathers! Radahn's Greatswords could've been unique by being only Paired Curved Greatswords in the game.
They went above and beyond for this DLC, I loved it. I've typically hated the Dark Souls DLCs because they are so short that it kinda feels like what's the point the entire time/who cares to craft a build when you're only going to use it for another hour and a half ever. SOTE had lots of great, memorable fights, memorable environments like Shadow Keep, good weapons, cool armor, tuned appropriately, and above all just way more content than I ever expected too. A+.
I think Radahn's swords should have gone even further than you suggest: make it a stance weapon, but, instead of just making it's light and heavy attacks both of these skills, give it a _third_ stance attack by double clicking the skill button. Most likely some gravity attack. If From wanted the Remembrance to give three rewards, then this is how they should have done it.
One of my gripes with this game is how they feel the need to scale everything so it’s not too overpowered, which just ends up with stuff like radahns swords that are literally the most end game shit you can find but still suck
I agree with the Sunflower being #1. It's doing like 8,800 charged R2s for me with a few easy buffs. I'm killing main bosses in like 2 to 3 hits lol. And It's super unique with a really cool design. Great video btw!
I been getting so much bad ER content in my reccomended lately but this video had me pleasently surprised, really well put together list and presesntation! I'll be checking out whatever you make in the future :)
Feel like Messmer’s spear got underrated too. In going about the game, having that range option against minor enemies can be really helpful for players who are less confident. Makes playing through dungeons a lot easier. And then the damage being so high on the ash is just very nice.
I totally was the confused cat when watching the end of the video - "And now for the first place the sunflower blossom" : O_o huh? - "Its charge deals a monstrous 45.7 stance damage" : O_o huh?? - "The skill is so absurd it utterly blast everything in it's path" : O_o huh??? (Like, if it was the spear of a conqueror or the greatswords of a god's consort i kinda would've understand. But a goddamn flower??? Ha! Classic FromSoftware
I'll be honest, I did NOT expect what number 1 was going to be. I know that people love to crap on the element (of which I feel like people overhate it) so I'm definitely taking it
Greatsword of Damnation is an absolute monster in PvP, the amount of hyper armor you get during the grab and the size of the hitbox is actually ridiculous. i have command grabbed players out of Bayle's Tyranny :D
I don't know how you have the sword lance ranked so low, it's one of the best weapons in the game period. Huge damage, large stance damage, massive status build-up, the single best and 2nd most damaging guard counter in the game, a mechanic that was already ridiculous before the deflecting hardtear, which you can further boost the already great stance damage of with cragblade, it should be number 2 AT MINIMUM
